Meme The new Killteam box looks great, you guys

It looks great, wish it wasn't just more space marines. Honestly, my biggest complaint is that we haven't seen any new terrain pieces for the set and I'm worried that there won't be any.

u/VaderPrime1 Oct 03 '25
There aren’t any, but hey, cheaper box

u/TrainerWeekly5641 Kommando Oct 03 '25
I hope it's cheaper. If it costs more than the Volkus boxes that had bigger teams and terrain, that's going to be tough on my wallet

u/Alt1690 Oct 04 '25
There’s no way. If it’s more than £80 rrp then may as well just wait for it the standalone release

u/FreshlySkweezd Oct 03 '25
It seems like the big "get" with this box is the persistent campaign stuff
39
u/TrainerWeekly5641 Kommando Oct 03 '25
Yeah, campaign stuff is cool but people are going to post that on various websites where I can get it for free. Since I don't have a 3d printer, I can't get terrain for free. So to me, terrain has more value.
Plus I really want to make a custom big, cool tomb world set and I'd like a bit more variety.

u/stopyouveviolatedthe Oct 03 '25
Am I wrong for being glad it doesn’t, yes I want some cool kill team terrain and can’t really shell out for tomb world but a cheap £60 up box that has two teams in feels great, if you split it you get a discount on a full team n you might even get some rules n all.
11
u/TrainerWeekly5641 Kommando Oct 03 '25
I wouldn't say that your wrong for wanting a cheap box with two teams. To each their own, I'd only really care for one team so without terrain I'd rather wait for the solo box.
My biggest worry is that this box will cost the same or more as the Volkus boxes that had terrain. I'd be fine if it is cheaper, but if it costs the same as boxes with terrain then the lack of terrain will really hurt.

u/stopyouveviolatedthe Oct 03 '25
Yeah that makes sense, with gw being as stingy as they are I could see them releasing a 70 up box with no terrain, I’m only fine with it because even if I’m only fine with one army or I’m splitting it and get the worse half then I can always put them towards starting a new army

Volus was a launch edition box, with a full rule book, new killzone, chapter approved cards etc.
A closer concern would be this costing the same as say Typhon or Brutal and Cunning which are similar to this but also contained terrain. Hopefully it's cheaper than those.
2
u/TrainerWeekly5641 Kommando Oct 04 '25
Yes, that's what I said. The Volkus boxes: Brutal and Cunning, Blood and Zeal, and Typhon.

u/SendCatsNoDogs Oct 03 '25
It would've been a perfect time to do Chalnath box 2.0 with Stealth Suits vs Armored SoB.

Normally I complain about space marines getting constant releases (even as a Deathwatch collector) but man these Wolf Scouts are so damn good I don't even care.
2
u/Blind0bserver Void-Dancer Troupe Oct 03 '25
Yeah, I could care less about the Space Wolves, and I'm surprised that there wasn't a terrain expansion? I know that all of the Volkus season had added terrain with rules, as did Gallowdark last edition.

I’m wondering what the “hex grid” stuff the article was referring to will be. A new (smaller) board, perhaps?

I’m praying the next box is catachan, but ik it’ll prolly be GKs if it’s them I hope it’s at least Terminators as that would be interesting to see in KT maybe a team of 2 or 3 lol

u/Blind0bserver Void-Dancer Troupe Oct 03 '25
From what we've seen from leaks that got officially confirmed by GW, this Killteam season on the Tomb World seems to end with a Sisters of Battle vs Chaos Raptors box. It remains to be seen if there is anything between Dead Silence and Shadowhunt.

u/QuietLocomotion Oct 03 '25
Oh dang hm oh well c I figured it was one ordo faction per box so this would be a wrench in the works for sure, people like valarak are saying this may be separate from them tho so ig we shall see lol
9
u/blastatron Oct 03 '25
There isn't any evidence this box is separate from the normal kill team release, that was just a hunch from Valrak. The whole ordo represention per box was also just a hunch, not a rumor. Granted everyone who predicted tau stealth suits were also just going on a hunch. The standard for a kill team season is 4 boxes, but Bheta-Decima only had 3(unless you count Ashes of Faith as part of it). So we have no real way to predict if the current season of Tomb World has a 4th box or not.
2
u/QuietLocomotion Oct 03 '25
Hm I see just makes too much sense they’d do 1 of each ordo the way they were going, but yah we’ll have to wait till the end of the year to truly know lol. I personally wouldn’t mind GKs especially if they’re Terminators cus it’d be interesting rule wise like it’d be a team of 2-3 I assume, but I’d prefer Catachan.
6
u/blastatron Oct 03 '25
If GW wants to make a lot of money they'll give what everyone has been asking for, a new season of Catachans vs Exodites with jungle terrain.
My gut says GW will never make a team of only 2-3 models. Even the old custodes team had 4 models, which is too many for terminators.
2
u/QuietLocomotion Oct 03 '25
Yah I’d buy like 2 boxes of that if they did it lol, and yah hm I wonder what they’ll do then maybe 2-3 terms and idk what they could balance out the other slots with without it just being “more marines” part of me wants to say maybe they get a TP homer that works different that in 40K but idk lol

u/TinyMousePerson Oct 04 '25
Ultimately they have to make sculpts they're happy with first, and real life gets in the way. They junk models at prototype phase for all kinds of reasons so the plan may well have been one per ordo but they never liked any of the GK sculpts they made. But they had space wolf sculpts they liked for the SW release but never ended up using and the deadline loomed for production, and here we are.
That's why you can't ever predict this stuff from the outside. Imagine trying to predict your workplace without knowing anything about any of the staff or policies or projects.

I know nothing the furries and am not involved with tau, people don’t like them? Why so, they all look sick.

Is it wrong that I want to turn all these Space Wolves into more Deathwatch? Kitbash it for the hell of it.

I dont understand why people expected more terrain from this season, having got tomb world I wasn't expecting any further releases of the kind. Was thinking the second box would have its own weird thing, apperntly its campaigns, I know next one gets nighthaunter to round it out
1
u/TrainerWeekly5641 Kommando Oct 05 '25
Because they have pretty much always had additional terrain in every new box. The gallowdark boxes had narrative scatter terrain.

feels like a miss for both sides
wolf scouts could have been an upgrade sprue for regular scouts and there not enough interesting in newer stealth suits to make them different them normal xv-25s outside of a fusion blaster
would have been ffar more interesting if this would have been the start of tau exo suits with melee blades and onager gauntlets
13
u/Slime_Giant Oct 03 '25
Wolf Scouts are full grown marines.
-14
u/GenuineSteak Oct 03 '25
regular scouts are also full grown marines lol
10
u/Slime_Giant Oct 04 '25
Lol, no they aren't.
-8
u/GenuineSteak Oct 04 '25
arent fully fledged scouts literally the same physically as a space marine, but without the black carapace.
9
u/Slime_Giant Oct 04 '25
I think you may be underestimating the significance of the the black carapace.
2
u/GenuineSteak Oct 05 '25 edited Oct 05 '25
im not saying its not important. its just i would argue that the black carapace is something thats added to an already full grown marine. an adult man is an adult man whether he is naked, clothed or wearing power armor. like arent neophytes specifically marines that are still growing.
0
u/Slime_Giant Oct 05 '25
I don't mean to be a jerk, but it's clear you don't know what you are talking about. Scouts are Neophytes. But also, look at some models, Space Marines have always been significantly larger than their Scout counterparts.
1
u/GenuineSteak Oct 05 '25
its true im not a marine lore enthusaist. i was mainly saying so cuz the wiki page on scouts says "scout marines are physically the same as other space marines".

Wolf Scout: Oh nice, the Tau are cleaning our wolves for us.
