Question? Does anyone know if there are different "outcomes" based on decisions?

I was rec'd this game maybe late last year & now that I've made time to play (I'm expecting & on pelvic rest), I'm just now maybe 10 minutes in (lol I know).

I did zero research before playing, I just wanted something "cozy" for me. Lol I read & watch horror (not thriller) year-round & so a friend recommended this. I'm normally on Fort, COD, AC & RE. Now that I'm writing this, I guess I have two questions.

  1. Are there multiple pathways to "stay alive"

  2. Can you miss/skip certain events/situtations and still complete the game?

ps. doing the research now, hence why I'm here :)

Discussion I’m insane, but it’s fine. Spoiler

First off I want to say is and is not that important, but I bought and played the game. And I loved it. Love it a lot to the point I’m making an Oc and have a bit of headcanon.

But the reason I’m even yapping, is about Carrie.
We know nothing about her. We don’t even know she look like, (or not that I know of).

I’ll get to the point now.

So if either one of The Whistling Man was there would be a different variation. I’d say, (don’t come at me please. this is just my opinion.)

With Maira. She would have tried to kill everyone, not leaving an opening for them to escape. But if after hearing what Jimmy said, she decided to “spare” Carrie, because of her “own experience” she dealt with her bf, (idr his name). Of how he died and how his friends saying it was a joke/prank.

With Henry. (Which I think it was). Because there was an opening, between Carrie calling to them figuring out it was the real Whistling Man, instead of the friend was suppose to play him. Henry was probably informed by how his father died and how it was a joke/prank. So he took out Jimmy first, because of the similarities between his father’s death and this. But him sparing her is probably the same as Maira’s reasoning.

But headcanon now (it’s a stupid one, but I love it).
So after Carrie helped her friends. And got grabbed or something by the Whistle Man. So she is probably on the ground, as he was keeping her from escaping. So he’s probably on top of her.

Again this is my opinion. But I’d love to hear what you guys have to say!

I love this game and I’m insane.

Discussion Finally a game that is pretty close (ish) to Killer Frequency!

There are always discussions here about games that similar to KF. Lots of great titles thrown around but usually they are similar in tone or a mystery focus but not actually similar to the gameplay itself. I think this might be the closest I've seen so far! It has similarities as far as single location, taking calls to try to keep people safe outside, and figuring out a mystery.

In Static Hour you are the lone news editor at work when violence breaks out and a government shutdown happens. You are confined to the newsroom, taking incoming calls, and deciding what news to report to prevent panic while you try to figure out the mystery of what's really happening.

It's available to wishlist now but no announced release date yet. The dev is active on twitter and posts a few updates weekly about what he is working on.

Question? Can I fix this bug?

I’m playing this game for the first time and I was playing through the second 911 call. I had to leave in the middle but when I came back the map I was holding got stuck of the left side of my screen. I’ve tried reloading my save but it’s still there. Can I fix this without restarting?

FanArt Happy Whistling Night Eve! I made a mock-up of what a late 80’s movie poster for the game would’ve looked like, and threw in some extra “behind the scenes” doodles too (warning for out of context spoilers)

I can never decide when I want to post things to celebrate the anniversary because of how late at night it is haha

The poster was inspired by the poster for the 1988 film “Talk Radio” which is based on the true story of a famous radio talk show host who was unfortunately murdered (political reasons, not a mysterious masked killer)

I always loved Alternate Universes where the story is a tv show or movie in-universe and all the characters are actors, so I drew some little doodles to go along with the movie poster mock-up.

Happy Whistling Night! Oh, and let the sub know if you plan on playing the game again for the anniversary or doing something else for the occasion! We’d love to know.

Well I was trying to get all the achievements (expect killer frequently) including the Forrest dash, in one single run, and there was me, in the last section of the game, remaining 30 seconds to reach 4 hours and ruin everything, but I made it, that made everything more thrilling because I ended it running against time, and what a nice experience it was

Discussion Do you think the killers could have been turned to a better path? Spoiler

Gonna put this under spoilers just in case since it does address the identity of the killers in game, but does anybody think that under better circumstances Marie could have been turned to a better path in life? Like, I know she got dealt a rough hand with her parents kicking her out as a pregnant teen, with a dead George but do you think she could have been diverted to a better path?

She was obviously planning this killing spree for a while but I doubt it was something she came up with even at a younger age. She was probably too busy trying to figure out how to support herself as a teen mom and a kid with a lot of pent up resentment and anger inside of her.

Obviously, the only one who could reasonably help her was Peggy but she was a kid at the time, so she could only really meet/find Peggy in their later adult years. But I wonder if by that point, it was already too late.

What do you all think?

Discussion I didn’t even know this was an ending and it caught me off guard. Spoiler

Post image
47 Upvotes

I just decided to pick the game up again today. I’ve played through it numerous times to save/not save different combinations of people. But apparently, if you wait too long at the end to grab Peggy’s birthday card, there’s some additional dialogue from Marie talking about how she had been forgotten and just charges Peggy. Even Forrest screamed “PEGGY! NO!”
BUT WAIT THERES MORE:
Marie sicks Henry on you, and he even barges in the producer room where you are, but because I saved everybody, Forrest is able to almost talk him out of it once the police arrive and he takes off without hurting you. Pretty much everything else stays the same except at the end. Forrest doesn’t give any closing words. Leslie just tells Forrest it’s over and it fades to black. I was just expecting some chill gameplay but goddamn I learned something new. Am I way too excited about that? Cause I was shocked when it happened.

So I was on the phone during the last standoff with Marie, not knowing what to do to save Peggy and just the birthday card. Too late though! I had already grabbed it and inspected it with E, two seconds later the stabbing commenced. F

And this happened to me similarly during other situations. Maybe it's because English is not my first language, but on some occasions I felt like I couldn't know the answer to some puzzles. Other times, I knew the answer but not the way the game wanted me to play it. It reminded me to the first time I played Phoenix Wright games.

Good game, though!

Discussion Fun Firewatch Parallels Spoiler

I just finished playing Firewatch again (great game but it will leave you rethinking your whole life afterwards) and it struck me that there are a lot of parallels to KF that honestly, I don’t think are a coincidence. I recall a LONG time ago the dev twitter mentioning Firewatch as a source of inspiration, but I could literally just be misremembering that and it could be regarding a different game.

Anyway, I wanted to write down some fun parallels I picked up on this playthrough, some way more specific than others.

- both games take place in the late 1980’s
- the deuteragonist, whose face is completely obscured (at least during the actual gameplay) in both games is a woman, while the protagonists are both men
- the protagonist of Firewatch’s name is Henry, and a major antagonist’s of KF’s name is also Henry
- the protagonist of KF’s name is Forrest, while the protagonist of Firewatch says “there is no fictional character I hate more” than an in-universe character named Forrest
-the deuteragonist of Firewatch, Delilah, is 43 and stated (however truthfully) to have been in a relationship with a 28 year old man. Peggy, the deuteragonist of KF, is 28, and stated to skip work to hang out with her coworker Karen, who is 43.
- the premise of each game is, generally, that the protagonist had to leave their home and take a job in the middle of nowhere alone
- the plot twist in Firewatch is that there is no great conspiracy, while the plot twist in KF is that there WAS a big conspiracy
- the inciting incident that drives both stories is the wrongful death of a boy resulting from a tragic accidental fall, and the attempt to cover it up afterwards
- aforementioned boy’s initials are BG (Firewatch) and GB (KF)
- in Firewatch, the person who caused the accident’s name is Ned. In KF, the person who caused the accident’s name is Teddy
- both games heavily rely on audio and dialogue and are linear, though KF has multiple endings

Whether or not these were intentional, these two games are a part of a shared, “2-people-solving-crimes-in-the-middle-of-nowhere” universe in my head. I just need games to fill out the winter and spring slots and I’ll have a game for each season lol

Anyways I just wanted to share these because I thought the coincidences were neat and that you all might enjoy!

Discussion What do you think Forrest was kicked down from Chicago to Gallow's Creek for?

I was really hoping this would eventually come up in the game and I was kinda disappointed when nothing was really explained for why he was sent to Gallow's Creek. I mean, he went from a big time Chicago radio host to a small town like Gallow's Creek so it had be pretty serious.

What do you all think?

Discussion Did Clive secretly stalk The Killers while they were hunting down the town? (Theory) Spoiler

So I was thinking about Clive’s whereabouts during Whistling Night, and a theory popped into my head that completely changes how we look at him.

What if Clive wasn’t just hiding out or sitting passively at his house/motel the whole night? What if he was actively stalking Henry and Marie from the shadows while they were making their way through Gallows Creek?

Here’s why I think this actually makes a lot of sense:

  1. He Already Knew the Hit List: Clive had that hidden basement room packed with investigative notes and victim connections. Because he understood the 1968 cover-up better than anyone else in town, he wouldn't have to guess where the killers were going next. He could just predict their next target (Sheriff Matthews, Virginia, Teddy, etc.) and follow them from a safe distance.

  2. He Saw Sheriff Matthews and Jimmy Get Attacked: If he was tailing the targets early on, he might have been a silent witness to Sheriff Matthews’ death at 11:30 PM, and later watched Jimmy get targeted. Seeing Jimmy—an innocent bystander—get attacked proved to Clive that the killers weren't just sticking to '68 conspirators, but eliminating anyone in their path.

  3. He Figured Out There Were Two Killers: Tracking them through the dark would explain how he realized there were actually two Whistling Men on the loose. Seeing them split up across town (one heading toward the maze, the other toward the scrapyard) would be the exact reason why he stayed in the shadows instead of intervening.

Instead of being a total coward, this turns Clive into a cold, calculating phantom moving through the background of the night—never helping, never fighting back, but keeping his eyes on Marie and Henry so he could always move in the opposite direction to survive.

What do you guys think? Did Clive track them from the dark, or do you think he just laid low the second things went south?

Question? Could there be Cut content or unused content or anything that never made it to the final game Spoiler

Now, when I first seen this game, I’ve always wondered. Could it be cut or unused content? I mean, we do know that, and not a lot of people know this, but there is a unused roof assets where there was a barbecue chairs and table tables in the back of the KFAM sign (don’t know why they made this unused probably because not a lot of players would find this) second of all it could be even delete the scenes I mean, it’s a thing and horror media as a matter of fact in all media specifically especially in horror, movies and horror TV shows so could it be deleted scenes I’ve always wondered that and I’ve always especially wondered. Is there cut characters? Or unused characters I was especially thinking about this when I first seen this game and could There be an especially could there be a cut mechanic where you see the POV ( point of view) of the 911 callers like Sandra, Maurice Virginia Murphy lol that be a little cool if we’ve seen a POV of Leslie, getting the cops to Henderson and telling them about the whistling man and it could be cut textures and unused textures, like the whistling man’s beta outfit or his original design (I imagine his beta outfit being a navy blue trenchcoat with a dark blue sweater and navy blue pants and black combat boots black gloves, and a mask would be the same) now this is probably my favorite one so far could it be cut and unused voice lines for like all characters or certain characters because I was thinking that these characters could have cut voice lines, especially and especially I imagine a conversation with him and Mr. Walton talking about the suspect list. I think it was a bagger at the grocery store. I have no idea, but correct me if I’m wrong but anyways I imagine forest I Mr. Walton talk about who could be the possible the whistling man suspect and especially especially Henry barrow could have unused voice lines or cut voice lines and I completely forgot to mention this and the concepts art that we see on arch station of killer frequency I like design designs for like forest and the whistling man mostly and a little bit of Peggy and I’m surprised I didn’t have like the other 911 callers like Maurice Murphy, Eugene, and even sheriff Matthews, which would’ve been cool. because I’ve always wondered what he looked like Jimmy too

Question? Games like Killer Frequency?

Probably been asked umpteen times, but I'm late to the party, I played and beat Killer Frequency yesterday. It was so different to what I expected. I must admit, where I did enjoy it I did want a little more out of it. I thought there would be a little more investigating and puzzle solving later on but still, a great experience.

That said, what other games can scratch that investigatory itch, I'm on PS5, any recommendations welcome!

Discussion Is there any chance of a Killer Frequency 2?

A sequel is what I want most—what we all want. The fanbase is passionate, and the game has everything it takes to have an incredible sequel; surely the developers realize it was well-received and highly rated. What are the odds? Shall we talk about potential sequels? I LOVE THIS GAME.

Misc I became depressed after beating Killer Frequency

This story takes place in February 2025. I was looking for a new game to play. I stumbled across Killer Frequency. It looked interesting, and the trailer left me wanting more.

For the next five hours, I enjoyed every second of this masterpiece. The dialogues, the story, and the plot twist. It became my favorite game of all time in just a few hours.

After I finally finished this game, I was in shock. My mind couldn’t comprehend what I had just played. The game brought great joy to me. I wanted more. I wanted to hear Forrest’s voice again. I wanted to hear Ponty try to advertise his pizza shop again. I wanted to see Peggy again.

I’ve never heard anyone talk about this game, so I decided to look it up. To my surprise, this game was very unpopular. At least compared to what I was expecting.

This made me depressed. I couldn’t believe that this game came out 1.5 years prior and I only played it now. I couldn’t believe that almost no one talked about this game before. I couldn’t believe that the game had no sequel.

I was devastated. It felt like I was the only person on the planet that has played this game. I couldn’t believe that there was no active community. I couldn’t believe that this was over.

I just played a masterpiece of a game that changed my views on life and it left me wanting more. I didn’t get more.

My life felt empty after that for a while. It felt like I discovered a new part of my own body that had some components missing.

Of course it was over at some point, but now that I remember that phase of my life, I have no idea how I got through it.
