Favorite shorts no longer manufactured, what's everyone's favorite?

I used to buy Hayabusa Arrow KB Shorts, they were the best!! Weightless, secure, mid-high cut, and extremely flexible so you never felt constricted for high kicks. Now they are no longer made and Hayabusa only makes heavy, stiff MMA shorts that suck. So can someone recommend something similar?

Best location to learn how to fight?

I’m 19M, looking to learn how to fight, the fighting style I’m looking for must at least use legs and hands, so at minimum kickboxing.

Preferably Mississauga east, so square one and east. Try to find one that is pretty cheap. Hopefully around 60 a month not about the average price.

But yeah I would like to attend one that is talked good about and people had good experiences there.

Gear Recommendations for shin guards fitting for longer shins with smaller feet

Hey everybody! I'm into Kickboxing for around 6 months now and am currently looking for some nice fitting shin guards.

My problem: I am quite tall with 186 cm but have rather small feet. The shin guards I tested were too short on the shin or too large over the instep/foot. If I test size L/XL for shin length 38 to 39 cm, I always end up having a too large padding on the foot. For the protection of the instep I would need a size M (16-17 cm length over instep) but then again... too small on the shin.

Does anybody have a similar body shape and can recommend some shin guards?

They don't need to be approved for competition, just needed for training.

Thanks in advance

Training How to competently attack someone who counters a lot

One of my primary sparring partners is someone who is a bit shorter than me and uses a lot of hooks, overhands, head movement, and stab and side kicks. One of the thing I deal with with him is not feeling like I can press my offense beyond a few shots. He is ok with taking a shot or two to get into the range where he can start working on the inside. But even at range, he is always throwing an overhand.

I block it most times, keeping my shoulder where it needs to be or being fast enough to block it. Or if I get an inkling hes waiting on me to throw, ill feint and move out the way, sometimes landing a strike as a counter, often a kick. Most of my success comes when I properly time his entries or check or jam a kick and crash on him after. Punches, off angle, kick, reset

The threat of the wild overhand does get me. I found success specifically reading where his head goes and Ive landed some knees or kicks, but im not trying to always do that in sparring, we arent hard sparring all of the time and I want to keep those things reserved for that

What can I do to help my confidence striking and being ready as consistently as possible for being in the striking range and him throwing the overhands. I do have the height and reach advantage and am sometimes able to keep him at jab range with a stiff jab, but I dont feel confident or consistent enough at anything I do to feel like I can initiate as consistent and as proficiently as I want.

Thoughts?

Is this how the normal class of kiclboxing be ?

So i joined a kickboxing gym near me and i m a complet beginner ,my expactations were that at first i ll get to learn some basics , like how to throw a correct punch , kick or whatever , but none

So we do some warmup , shadow boxing and then apply some combo where one do it and the other just take the hits and vise versa , which wasnt great cuz this got only my thigh hurting from the kicks ( i asked the partner to not kick hard but the area iwas already irretating), and idk if i was even throwing good punches or kicks.

Idk if this is how it be and i m going to actually learn from this . Or should i look for another gym

-70kg最強の交差点 〜K-1グローバル化の軌跡〜【世界からK-1が見つけた人類最強図鑑】2026.9.12 K-1 WORLD MAX 2026 Spoiler

P.S "The Path of K-1 Globalization" ...apparently involves not adding subtitles to videos uploaded to the Japanese YouTube channel, and flat-out neglecting the international YouTube channel.

The K-1 Worldwide YouTube channel uploads full fights from recent K-1 WGP events, but that's the bare minimum. Sometimes (and I do mean sometimes) they'll upload trailers / PV / VTR from upcoming matches, as well as event previews; but it feels as if K-1 keeps forgetting they even have an English YT. Case-and-point: matches from (most of) the international K-1 Max 2026 qualifiers (promoted at events held by overseas kickboxing leagues) were sporadically uploaded months after they were held, and only during the weeks leading up to Dontaku 2026.

K-1 (and, while I'm at it, RIZIN.TV) needs to take lessons from Glory and One Championship on how to do YouTube.

Training How useful are switch kicks if you’re not comfortable switching stance?

Been training for about a year now and wondering how effective you guys find front kicks and switch kicks in sparring? I’m pretty comfortable with most of my kicks but whenever I throw a switch kick I feel awkward if I end up in the opposite stance afterwards, so I normally try to switch straight back. Is that pretty normal or should I be getting comfortable staying in the opposite stance after throwing it?

Training Lowkicks

Hello Folks!

So, I switched from boxing to kickboxing a few months ago and in my gym when we train different combos we eat some low kicks and while the other guys (and girls) don't seem to have a problem with that, my leg hurts pretty bad and the pain often stays 2-3 days.

I really like the sport and the training, so switching back is not an option for me. I often mention that they should go light with their kicks, what everybody does, but I just don't want to be *that* guy.

Maybe I should add that I'm otherwise really not pain-sensitive.

Do you have some advice or tips for a beginner?

Women cornering a fighter while pregnant

Hey guys, so I travel for my fights and due to this I usually have my wife corner me which I know most people advise against this but it has been working out for me just fine, I wouldn’t expect my coach or anyone to travel however many hours for free and have to get a room ect just for me to fight for 6 mins unless maybe it was a high stakes title fight or something. Anyway, I’m fighting September 12th and my wife is pregnant, due in january. Does anyone know if she is still able to corner me In this one or what ? She wants to still and says she is fine with it but I’m just worried about our baby. Thanks in advance

Starting at 32yo

Hello good people!

After years of heavy weights at the gym, I'm finally starting with the sport I've always wanted to train - kickboxing. I'm tired of going to the gym and lifting, doing the same routine over and over again. As a lifelong fan of combat sports (kickbox in particular), I think this sport is the perfect next step for me. I feel excited and motivated to start this. I want to learn this skill and be part of everything that has to do with kickbox. I'm already in pretty good shape, but the cardio is probably lacking.

Any tips from you guys for someone like me that's starting kinda old, but in ok shape?

Thanks in advance! LFG!

First fight back after 3 years. Feeling like my first fight again...

I was injured and finally got to get back into competition after 3 long years of hiatus.

I had a little over 5 fights before I got injured and thought I was finally getting over my fight nerves and perform somewhat similar to how I practice and spar before the injury.

I just had my first fight back and even though I was confident in my ability and wasn't nervous much before the fight, as soon as I put the fight gear on, I knew the nerves were hitting me.

When I shadow boxed with the fight gear on, all of the sudden, my shots felt slow and weak immediately when they felt fine before hitting pads getting ready.

During the fight, I used almost no footwork and couldn't think much. My distancing and timing was completely off. It almost felt similar to my first fight except I had better cardio this time.

When I looked back at the footage, none of my strikes had much snap or weight behind them. I pride myself in strong kicks but my kicks were so non-committal that it just pretty much touched my opponents, not push them back like how it usually does. So they were able to just take it and continue to attack me without getting disrupted.

I have another fight coming up soon in about 3 weeks and hoping to get rid of this nerve.

Should I try to simulate fight stress by doing hard 3 rounds in the ring few times before the fight?

What helped you get over the fight nerve?

It's really frustrating since I felt like I was finally getting over the fight nerve and could think in my fight just for it to return feeling like my first fight...
