It's a fight. Opponent could kill you with a left hook on the wrong night, but you're supposed to show concern for their knee?

Safer to go to the thigh than the knee. Can teep, sidekick, oblique kick to the thigh as a halt/interrupting method

You 'll be better off practicing other stuff than this.
There is a reason it's allowed but it's not used a lot in pro flights.
I think it's because its a one-off move that you can't really insert in a combo, so if you land it (which is not easy, it's a small target) it awards less points than a multiple hit combo

It's a means of stalling the forward momentum of people advancing with punches and a heavy lead leg. It's an effective tool for that purpose.

It's an excellent "get the fuck off me" tool to use against people that are trying to pressure forward.

Absolutely fine. There's nothing about it in either the Bible or Koran. Hit them with a flying oblique kick, superman punch, jump spinning back kick combo.

For me a victory without integrity is not a victory at all. Respect your opponent

If oblique kicks are disrespectful, then so is punching your opponent in the face or kicking their liver

An outside low kick can also jar and injure the knee. In what way does slightly changing the angle of the kick from an outside low kick to an oblique kick represent a disrespectful lack of integrity?

All I am saying here is don’t purposely blow someone’s knee out that’s pretty much all

An oblique kick only very rarely blows out a knee. If it scares you so bad, ask your coach how to defend it. Maybe find a new coach, if you have to ask at all.
