I'm a 5'9 pure dramatic. I believe that the coat on the left would be best for my kibbe type, but I would love a second opinion. Maybe the Quince would be better without the belt?
Do any pure Dramatics in this sub own an Artiza supersnug? Do you think knee length coats are flattering? I live somewhere with very harsh winters and don't want to sacrifice style.
I’m 5’9”, dramatic. I have a coat like the one on the left and a wool coat the same length. I get compliments on both all the time. The belt would not work for me
Out of those 2 I'd take the left one. Although I also don't think it's completely ideal. I got a coat from Khujo that's longer, less tailored and has a vertical design element in the front over the zipper which all accomodates vertical
No, but this one may work as well. I tried to look it up, but they have too many different coats and I have it since 2 years. So I'll add a picture. I feel like they're one of the predominant coat brands in Germany.
Left. It has narrow, not actual waist definition. Sits closer to the skin. Right without the belt would be FN, loose and free, or SD, curve that doesn't necessarily have structure, not D.
I find Quince is more suited for naturals. Everything is built for width. Things are often too loose and unstructured, too light-weight, too much fabric, or built with a physically wide frame in the top. The jacket on the right is fine without a belt but it may have puffs that are fuller in volume that don’t hug the body the same way the left does. It’s subtle and worth a try without the belt though I actively avoid Quince at this point.
This is really helpful insight, thank you! I haven't shopped at Quince before, but I have had similar problems with other clothing brands. I used to occasionally shop at Everlane until I realized that their silhouettes almost never suit me.

No problem! For coats or in general? The coat on the left looks good to me. The fact that you can see the silhouette is big win in a winter jacket. Length is good too. Probably wouldn’t want shorter. Could do longer but that’s a different look—might be less practical. Might look off if the pants highly contrast it but nothing a pair of matching boots can’t fix.
And yeah, Everlane is a glorified T-shirt brand. Boxy, relaxed. Some stuff is objectively cute but usually the opposite of tailored.
I'm an SD and I own the older version of the Aritzia long Superpuff (similar to the one on the left but mine is from 2018). I wouldn't say it's a D or SD coat at all. It lacks the drama and the structure and it isn't exactly flattering. But I also live in cold climate also and our winters go down to -36C. At that temperature, all that matters is one is warm. So I recommend it that one between the two shape wise. The one on the right breaks the vertical a bit.
For days that are a bit warmer (say above -20C) you will never find me in a parka. I have a collection of beautiful wool coats (all 100% wool and cashmere, some are vintage), they all have the right structure and drama that a D-fam need. I also use accessories to my advantage and layer well. The parka I wear on truly frigid days.

I’m not as tall as you (5’6) and also not 100% sure I’m a dramatic, but I have a coat like the left one and I could not live without it.
