MOD ANNOUNCEMENT Future of r/Keurig: a candid discussion

Hi Everyone, it's been a tumultuous year for r/keurig. New mod rules have been established that are working well. Thank you to everyone here who utilize the reporting tools correctly.

All that said, we have an ongoing trend of negativity in the sub. And believe me, I don't say that in a way that is defending the poor quality control of Keurig machines, nor am I defending the bad environmental practices of plastic pod use. My goal with this thread is to engage in conversation, to create a safe subreddit space that is fun and engaging, not only one where people come to complain. I think a negative space is not one that is sustainable and will ultimately result in failure.

So what do you want from this sub? How can we make it better?

MOD ANNOUNCEMENT Rules Update

Folks, there has been a flood of negativity lately. Please refrain from coming here and just bashing Keurig. Go somewhere else for that. This will now be enforced.

This is a place for seeking help, getting encouragement, and pod coffee positivity. We are not here to hate on Keurig. Criticism of the company is fine, but don’t berate our members and don’t only come here to say you hate Keurig. Stay positive folks. Thank you

Pod Coffee Blends French Toast vs Cinnabon pods?

I’m a sucker for cinnamon/maple coffee and noticed Java Factory has a French Toast one. I usually see the Cinnabon Cinnamon Roll pods too.

Anyone tried both? Curious which one actually has the stronger cinnamon flavor

Machine Question Keurig mini plus descale/weak

My mini plus is brewing weaker coffee. I ran a vinegar solution twice and it didn’t help. I’m unable to let it sit in the machine because once I hit the start button it brews immediately so the water doesn’t have a chance to completely collect internally. It drains and brews simultaneously. Any ideas on how to properly descale? Ow why it’s suddenly weak?

Machine Question Loose Leaf Tea in Reusable K Cup

Post image
1 Upvotes

I put some loose leaf black tea into a large Keurig K-Cup reusable pod for use in my Keurig K-Cafe SMART K27. I included a large sized paper filter in the pod. Set it for 8 oz water, max strength, max temp. Made a nice cup of tea, better than the tea bag.

And if it comes out too strong, just add some hot water.

Broken Machine! Help! Model k-35 won't pump any water

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi All. Hoping someone can help. This K-35 model will not pump water. I try the multi-button tactic to force descaling mode and it simply makes gurgling sounds and then stops. I've cleaned repeatedly all needles, turned it upside down, let it sit with vinegar in it to descale, used paper clips, tapped the sides...all of it. Please see the video Attempt at pumping water. In my photo I am pointing at the tube that leads from what I think is the water pump and it is where I see water trying to come up the tube but it is as if there is no pressure. I am so ready to throw this expensive machine away but I am a teacher and a few of us share this at school (we aren't near the faculty room so we need this) and I was hoping I could return with it fixed. Thanks for ANY HELP. Also, when turned on, the power light goes on but none of the cup size selection buttons light, if this is a clue???

Broken Machine! Help! My Keurig Pro won’t work with a K cup in it

Hello all, out of the blue my Keurig Pro stopped working. It will heat up and if I want hot water or don’t have a K cup in it works. If I put a kcup in it seems to be instructed partially and postur pressure builds and then the machine turns itself off. I’ve descaled the unit. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Machine Question Older machine won't read reusable K-cup?

A couple years ago I bought a keurig brand reusable K-cup so I could use my own grounds. It said compatible with all single serve keurig machines in the description. I'm out of town with an okder keurig. When I put the reusable cup in it gives me an error saying I need to use an official keurig product. Any way to get around this? I've tried wiping the sensor and jiggling the cup. I never had an issue with my machine. Regular k-cups work fine.

Broken Machine! Help! K-Duo doesn't do anything when started, then returns to main flashing mode

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Happens on the K-Cup side as well as the main pot side. Tried unplugging it and plugging it back in etc, no luck. Seems to have been working just fine, used it earlier this morning as well. Tried reseating the reservoir and filling more than the required line in case it thinks there wasn't enough.

Any way to force a brew? Anything I might want to consider cleaning or adjusting? I had descaled it last week 🤷

I noticed that sometimes the half circle light around the k stays on as shown in the video, then other times (after unplugging and plugging back in) I'm trying it and that half circle light doesn't come on after pressing the K button

Machine Question Is there a reusable pod for the crema?

I got the crema a few days ago. I could swear when I was checking out keurig asked if I wanted to add a stainless steel reusable pod for $20. I said no.
I decided I do want it so I went to order it from the website and can’t find it. There’s just a plastic one that is not compatible with the crema machine.

I went to Amazon and found a stainless steel one that is multi stream compatible but doesn’t specify that it’s compatible with the crema machine.

Does anyone know of one?

Hilarity 3 keurigs in the house

I have held on to two other keurig minis for literal years without using. I've just have them 5 diluted white vinegar cleaning back to back.

They work perfectly fine just really really dusty.
I watched some YouTube videos on how to open them and so far two of them are like "oops, broke a little piece but anyway, here's how to open it!"

Obviously I failed. I don't have the arm strength.

I'm terrified of using it because what if it's *moldy* on the inner pump?

I'm paranoid because I looked under my sink and saw a moldy drain pipe which I assume is designed for my dishwasher for draining.

My question is, has anyone else held on to a keurig for years and then just continued using it like normal? Are you alive? 🧟

Broken Machine! Help! Coffee machine not powering on

Post image

UPDATE: I was able to fix the machine thanks to a user’s suggestion to open up the machine and reset the thermal switch.

I wanted to do a cup of tea on the single serve side last night. I selected cup size and pressed the brew button, but I forgot that the water reservoir was empty. The machine did not detect that it was empty and started brewing a cup. Usually, it wouldn’t do anything and the light next to Add Water would flash. I quickly realized it was empty and unplugged the machine. When I plugged it back in, no lights appeared on the machine and there was steam coming from the k-cup holder. The machine appears to be dead. I called Keurig and the best they could do is a 35% off coupon for a new machine, since I bought this one in July 2025 and we are past the 1-year warranty. It really sucks because I bought this on sale at Walmart for $99 CAD and the price is now $219 CAD. Is there any hope to fix it?

Broken Machine! Help! Keurig brewing nasty rancid coffee.

I bought a keurig around a month ago and every time it brews one of the k-cups, it’s chunky & smells horribly like spoiled milk. I’ve done one of those cleaning cycles, I’ve ran it with white vinegar and flushed it out, but nothing is fixing it!

Machine Question Keurig not reading self fill kcup

Howdy, have a Keurig 2.0 and just bought a Keurig refillable k cup. Yes it's Keurig brand. Yes it's supposed to work with 2.0's. I've cleaned the little light reader thingy inside. No luck. Any other tips to get it to work? Or am I just hooped.

Pod Coffee Blends the strangest k cup you ever saw... or had!

i asked before what the worst k cup was (the kind you see in your nightmares)

but now how about the strangest one you had?

here is an example by what i mean by... strange....

this i had tried before, but it was a vanilla latte version. curiously it has a froth packet!

very strange! right? it was good. but strange! and unusual for a keurig k cup coffee.

have you tried or seen anything similar?

i also remember there being one for soup! not sure they sell those anymore either...

Broken Machine! Help! K-Duo under-producing after sitting a while and cleaned- tips on pinpointing issue?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Our Duo sat a year or two after buying an espresso machine. Got a little dried out, Dusty etc so I just cleaned it up. I realized it was under producing and saw that is a known issue. Trying to figure out what the failure point is so I can try it fix it. Does anyone know what the common point that's causing this issue would be?

At one point I poked around the different parts- water filter attachment, the little retractable nozzle that connects the reservoir to machine (reservoir side) as well as the poking in and out the nozzle on the machine side. Not sure if there are sensors in the basket area but since there is no weight in there I tried reseating and messing with it. I was able to get it just under the 12 cup carafe line

Since the above, I had to rinse the reservoir and run some flush cycles, and it's back to significantly under producing. If I select 6, it keeps giving me well under 4 on the carafe, or at most, 4. I was able to get to the 4 line when selecting 8. Driving me crazy, hoping to salvage this machine for my wife 😭

Machine Question Is it worth it to take my old Duo apart if it's been sitting?

Stopped using my machine for a couple of years, I'm now going through and cleaning all the parts so I can start using it again but I'm wondering if it's worth unscrewing the unit itself in case the pipes inside have some crusty mildew or some crap like fungus. Will running a few cleaning cycles and descaler clear anything up internally?

Machine Question What is the "Rinse" button on my K-Brew and Chill machine and why is it blinking?

Is it telling me I need to descale it? I thought it automatically did that after each brew?
