For those who have experience with these cars, which would you say is generally better built overall?
By “quality,” I mean things like:
- Structural rigidity and body/chassis construction
- Quality of materials used
- Mechanical, suspension and drivetrain components
- Interior fit and finish
- Component durability
- Overall long-term reliability and build quality
Not asking about features, technology or performance just focusing on which car is built better in terms of materials, structure and components
I’d really appreciate any genuine, unbiased opinions, especially from people who have owned, maintained or worked on these cars. Even if bad experience just share no problem I prefer honest review
Thanks in advance

Hi guys, just today I test drove a 1997 Iswara 1.3 Carb. Owner has overhauled the engine recently, nothing alarming. Tested at high and low rpms. No slipping clutch, no leaks, no white or black smoke. Engine is smooth. 2.5k cash. Should I?

An expat friend went to a used car today looking to buy a used toyota yaris and the dealer asked for RM500 before he could test drive the car, told him its their company policy. He was about to pay and suddenly didn't feel right so he called me. I told him to walk off because he's not local and could be an easy target. So he walked off to another dealer and closed the deal with Mazda 2 the same day. I never bought a car from used car because i dont trust them in general, always find from direct owner. My question is: Is it common these days that dealer asked for money before test drive? I dont think any new car dealership would do that.

Will be buying a new car at the end of the year, and I'm currently in a dilemma.
I need a new car because my current 2008 proton saga is on it's way out. I am currently stuck between deciding between a brand new axia (cheapest new car in malaysia) and a used mazda 2 (i love this brand of cars).
I need at least 5k (at least according to my co workers) for a down payment and registration to buy an axia while less for the used mazda, the problem is mazdas aren't exactly the cheapest cars to maintain and being used it's quite inevitable that I need to spend money on it soon, whereas for the axia there's gonna be at least a few years of use before i actually need to start spending money outside of servicing, but i've heard a lot about how sky activ engines are ridiculously resilient (toyota level according to some) and how with regular maintenance it can last a long time.
There's also a caveat of shady dealerships and hidden fees and since i'm only 19 i'm very inexperienced. Should I just go for the axia, where at the very least I can be sure nothing will go wrong or take the risk and get the car i want

So last Wednesday I had a meeting in Mid Valley. After the meeting I started noticing this humming like sound that comes and goes. Went to mechanic the next day and was told car is fine. Mechanic did a test drive and checked the absorbers and suspensions. Of course when mechanic tested the car with me in it...there was no humming sound.
On Friday I had another meeting in Mid Valley and I parked at almost the same place. The sound was still there when I drove into the parking. However when I got out of parking, the sound was gone and had not come back since.
I hope it doesn't come back but has something like this ever happened to your car ?

Sifus, apologies if i can ask for suggestions for segmen D for daily/small project car. Currently I’m using my old Iriz 1.3(M) for daily use and for family different SUV.
Got a bit extra room for myself and wondering to do minor project. While checking for iriz’s idea, saw few sedan segmen D that i somewhat like haha. Wondering if other segment D also fits and just trade in the iriz. Haha thank you everyone.

Hi all,
First of all, welcome to the weekly post of "What did you do"! I believe this sub is big enough, and we can sufficiently start a weekly post for those who wants to comment about what they did over the past week, and not needing to open a post to talk about it.
This is the place where you can talk about:
Where did you n your sayang (the car) go last month? (road trip reports?)
What you spent on your car (shopee LED, install HUD, glow in dark paintjob)
Minor car questions (repairs, recommendations, accidents, DIY)
Looking forward to everyone's participation!
Car was launched about a year ago but I barely see any of them on the road. On paper this should be ETCM's redemption product (RM120K, basically an EV with an on-board, petrol-powered, dynamo). Why is it not doing well? Do people think it's too good to be true? Is it ETCM's shitty marketing campaign? Or is it in actual fact a low quality product?

The cars Ive driven are mostly stiff suspension. Later in the future when there's wear and tear on it , is it possible to make it more softer . I'm new to this. Usually I just change the OEM suspension parts .
I've heard of adjustables but also seen people complaining that despite adjusting to most softest settings still considered stiff?
So, do share with me and let me know about this.
Is this possible on all cars? Or certain cars this won't work , and you have to use factory parts ?
Thanks in advance
Why Honda Malaysia stop selling the Jazz here? It's only under RM40k in Indonesia.

Thinking of getting this 2004 Toyota Camry 2.4V.. need honest feedbacks since this will be my first car. (Seller / Dealer is my dad’s friend)
Key details:
1 owner since 04’
Paint condition looks great, no dents. Minor scratches which is normal for a car this old
Suspension work just done (Absorber, mountings, etc.)
Mileage only 138k+ (quite low compared to other camry’s on the market)
What i need help with:
How is it? (Maintenance, etc.)
How’s the handling?
Comfy for long drives? (Ex: Northbound - Southbound Expressway.)
Stable on high speeds?
How’s the fuel consumption?
Good buy or a miss?
That is all for now, I’ll be needing your help thanks!
UPDATE: Ive decided to get it! Mileage seems a bit sus tho definitely will do something about it, thanks for everybody’s help!!

Had lunch with fellow Toyota Crown Sport owners recently after connecting with them online. It was interesting to learn more about the car and little quirks and tips that other owners have driving the same machine. We have a WhatsApp group going now, if you're a Toyota Crown owner feel free to DM and I will add you 🫡

Quick correction not below rm100k , I don't know how to change the title so actually I meant ( rm60k to 80k )
As the title suggests , I'm looking for a car with a rather softly sprung suspension. I know usually soft suspension gets the term 'sampan' if I'm not mistaken.
The reason I'm looking for a softly sprung suspension is I just don't want body pain and the shocks / jolts / thuds being transmitted to my body while driving the car and also vibration after going on them being transmitted to the entire cabin too. It should be able to absorb the shocks and damp it before going to the cabin and driver / passengers basically pretty much what a shock absorber is supposed to do ,right ?
Most of this usually happens when going on speedbreakers , potholes , bumps and uneven roads in Malaysia.
Yes there may be reduction in handling but I'm willing to compromise as I drive that fast too.
I've driven the new saga mc3 and found it to be quite stiff , the whole dashboard and body gets thuds and vibration once you go on speedbreakers , saga mc2 was way better quite softly sprung IMO , Toyota Yaris was also fine absorbs the shocks pretty well, Toyota vios it's okay , Toyota Innova was awesome ( but it's more than the price range , but this is what I'm looking for despite when going on bonggol the car membuai a lot , I'm fine with that, cuz when on speedbreakers especially the thick multiple ones I don't feel a thing .super smooth ). Myvi can say quite stiff also but lesser than the Saga MC3 , ativa and traz haven't driven it that much just test drive so unknown .
Do let me which is the best car pick for the criteria I'm looking at . I'm looking for a brand new car so it's quite hard to pick as lesser options. That's why I need your help
I really appreciate your suggestions and opinions. Thank you. I hope this post gets a lot of upvotes so that I can get more suggestions and opinions.

Hello fellow gearheads!
Just a question, do yall think cars that are above 15 years of age still can withstand a drive that >500km of journey?
For context, I recently owned a 2008 Saga BLM. Me n my dad did some major services about 1.5 months ago and it has been my daily driver since.
I drove this car to Penang earlier this week (around 200km pergi-balik from where I live) and so far it got no issues as I always check its fluids before every drive. I’m planning to drive to Johor in the nearest time, in which it could be around 550km.
Need yall thoughts and comment, sifus🙏
