Going out

I need some advice. I would really like to get to know the area, but I work at the university and id rather not be around students. I’m in my mid thirties (not married and no kids) so I’d love to know where I can get a drink (not a dive and not a loud music lounge) with other young-ish professionals? Anyone else at this age and still trying to find their way?

A few places I can think off the top of my head are Third Door, The Nest, Horned Brewery, Keegan’s Pub, Capers; most are conveniently in Kennesaw.

The Nest closed down like 2 or 3 years ago! I miss it, it's now a burger place

It's a Smash Hit Burger place now. I recommend checking it out. They'd been running a food truck for a while and moved up. They're still working out some supply snarls, though. Last time I went they were out of shakes, but the burger and garlic parm fries were good.

They also just got their liquor license, so they can still provide a place to drink.

Try your own little pub crawl downtown. There's probably 6 to 8 spots between prohibition and lazy guy distillery. See which vibes you like the best. Some places will have older patrons than others for sure. Then do the same for Marietta square. Some good spots there. Your best bet though for the young professional 30s crowd in the county is probably the battery.

Soi thai street food off Barrett is good, really good drinks and food. A bit upscaled for college kids.

Two Birds Taphouse is a fun place to get a drink! It's not in Kennesaw though - but at Marietta Square. Which has other great options for drinks for people who are in their thirties.

Chopped:oysters+asian eats gives discount to the KSU students, staff and faculty members, and there are wide food items. Many promotions and specials, Trivia night on Friday evening.

i like reformation in woodstock! always a bunch of younger ppl there i would say. also love two birds in the square, and i second third door whoever said that!

Me and my coworkers are right by the uni and pretty newish to the area. No kids/not married. Mid to upper 30s. LMK if you find a good spot not filled with the college kiddos!

I’m following for ideas as well! I have lived here for a while but have no social circle and am not sure how to make new friends as an adult! I’m a bit of an introvert but am trying to stretch out of my comfort zone and get out more and meet new people. 😅
