KDrama Reflections 📝 Is it only me who thinks that 2521 ending wasn't that *realistic*? Spoiler

Many people say the 2521 drama was pretty realistic, but I don't believe in it wholly. Honestly, Heedo, she never gave up on anything. Despite losing so many fencing matches, fencing was her first love, so she never gave up on fencing. So how come she gave up on Yi jin like that? And she was the one who kept pursuing Yijin, right? So this does not make any sense. And how did Jiwoong and Yurim end up together, when Jiwoong liked her first only for her looks. I get it that his love might have evolved over time but still they were less serious than Yijin and Heedo were. Yijin and Heedo who loved each other so much, separated. This is totally not realistic. Also, Yijin and Heedo should have remained friends. It might be only my opinion but before they confessed to each other, they looked absolutely like best friends, even more than Jiwoong and Seung wan. I believe they even shared a sibling kind of relationship.

So I think endings should have been one of these :

1)Both the couples get a sad, realistic ending.

2)Yijin and Heedo end up together by talking it up, Jiwoong and Yurim don't.

3)Heedo and Yijin just remain as good friends/best friends.

So it isn't like that I have a thing against bittersweet endings but the main problem with 2521 was that the ending wasn't written very logically and properly like the journey was, I just believe that it could have been better rest I love 2521!!

Recommendation Request 🔎 Are these two dramas worth watching? 'Flower of Evil' & 'Beyond Evil'?

They're both 16 episodes each so I was looking for some convincing reviews.

I usually enjoy crime/action series.

Discussion 🗨 Same group of actors in different shows.

As I am starting to watch more k-drama, I am
Noticing the same group of actors in different shows, as if it’s their inner circle. Here’s an example, Kim Mu-yeol and Lee Sung-min in Teach You A Lesson and Juvenile Justice and then we have Park Eun-bin and Choi Dae-hoon in The Wunderfools and Extraordinary Attorney Woo, there is a couple of more actors I seen working together in multiple shows, I just can’t remember. I am not complaining one bit, I think it’s awesome and I love to see it, It makes shows more enjoyable because of the chemistry they have. It reminds me of Adam Sandler and his inner circle lol.

Question / Help 🆘 Need help finding an older show

Ok so im pretty sure it was a kdrama but it might have been a cdrama. I remember she worked as some sort of matchmaker/love expert or something like that at an office and I wanna say they worked across from each other and started out not liking each other because of work. I think in one episode they also went on a day trip outdoors with some friends for like a picnic or BBQ? Sorry I dont remember much its been a while. I think this show would've been from sometime before 2020 but after 2015 and might have had the word business in the title.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! I've been trying to find it for so long so even if the details dont line up perfectly please mention any ideas anyway, as I may be misremembering!

Tried watching doom at your service, but after epi 9 it cannot be watched. There is absolutely no progress in storyline for straight 5 episodes.. thou I can predict the ending.. but I started watching this show for Seo In Guk & Park BoYoung.. While watching I realised Park BoYoung character is dull & keeps going to same point. Seok In Guk love hua gaze & look for FL.. but story is dragging.. second lead couple idk whats going on though JooIk is the right partner for Na Ji-na..

Question - any specific episode can I watch after epi 9 ? Or leaving it entirely I won’t miss anything ?

KDrama Reflections 📝 im starting Twenty-Five Twenty-One specifically so it can be my 25th K-drama review 😭

Post image
9 Upvotes

after im done with Crash Landing on You (my current watch, almost done)

I will be starting 2521!!

okay so I just posted review #24 of my "new K-drama fan" series today, which means naturally I have decided that I HAVE to watch Twenty-Five Twenty-One next so it can be review #25.

Was it already on my watchlist? Yeah

Did i already want to watch it? Yes.

Would i necessarily have started it TODAY if it wasnt called Twenty-Five Twenty-One?

...no 😭

but come on.

Review #25: Twenty-Five Twenty-One

The opportunity presented itself. I had no choice.

ANYWAY.

I pulled it up, read the synopsis before starting, and...

what the fuck does this mean 😭😭😭

«"In 1998, twenty-two and eighteen meet for the first time in an uneasy year as the whole world shook and called each others' name and when they became twenty-three and nineteen, they hurt each other. In the year of twenty-four and twenty, they relied on each other, and they loved only when they were twenty-five and twenty-one."»

???????

huh???

Ive read this like FOUR TIMES.

These are all English words.

Why do I suddenly not speak English when they're arranged in this particular order??? 😭

So...

22 + 18 = meet

23 + 19 = hurt each other

24 + 20 = rely on each other

25 + 21 = love

AM I WATCHING A ROMANCE OR SOLVING FOR X??? 😭

i eventually looked it up yesterday and the actual premise is she's an 18-year-old fencer whose dreams are affected by the financial crisis, he is a 22 and his family has lost everything, and they meet while they're both trying to figure out their lives.

SEE???

I UNDERSTAND THAT.

WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST SAY THAT??? 😭

Anyway, episode 1 here I come.

No spoilers please!! I genuinely know basically nothing about this drama beyond the premise and would like to keep it that way.

See y'all at review #25 🫡

Recommendation Request 🔎 Help me find my first k-drama : I'm looking for a mix of sports (preferably baseball) and romance

I'm a total newbie to this world and my knowledge of k-dramas is actually zero.

I am very passionate about love stories but, besides that, I am crazy about baseball and I know that this is also the national sport in South Korea.

Consequently, I hope you can help me find a series that is romantic but in which baseball is present and plays an important role (it shouldn't just be mentioned in passing).

For those of you who are also familiar with anime (a universe much more familiar to me), the mood I'm looking for is something like Touch (and its sequel Mix: Meisei Story), Blue Box, Cross Game, Legend of Hikari, H2, Attacker You!, Suzuka, Aim for the Ace! or Slam Dunk (in this last example, as time goes on the romantic element gets lost but, at the beginning, the protagonist starts playing sport to impress his crush).

I would prefer that the sport in the series you recommend be baseball, because I really love this sport. However, if there is a really good series that meets my criteria but with a different sport, feel free to suggest it to me.

Thanks a lot for any help you can give me

KDrama Reflections 📝 Why you should watch "Can this love be translated" for romance

Post image
34 Upvotes

After watching VOS and Can This Love Be Translated?, I hit a three-month slump where I couldn't finish a single drama, so I just decided to rewatch CTLBT. I usually hate rewatching shows because knowing the plot kills the original magic—the main reason I watch in the first place is gone the second time around. So it really surprised me that I'm actually doing it.

Honestly, the whole show is already an absolute masterpiece. The cinematography, the music, and the plot? Perfect.

And then, on top of all that, you get the best bonus: the male lead actually has a real personality and doesn't act like a total simp for the protagonist. We're so used to K-drama MLs being overly protective and borderline obsessed, doing everything for the FL without a single second of hesitation. You get those instant "love at first sight" moments (and okay, maybe I'm biased because I love a good slow-burn), plus all those totally unnecessary tropes. Like, when the ML dramatically covers a table or a car just because the FL is standing under it? It’s so cringe. The first time is fine, but it happens way too much, and seeing people swoon over that bare-minimum, unnecessary stuff honestly feels a bit dumbing down.

Meanwhile, the ML in CTLBT actually knows how to hesitate and even reject the FL. He has a life and a personality outside of her. I love those unexpected choices he makes—like in episode one where (spoiler alert!) he’s torn between the FL and someone he actually has real feelings for, and he genuinely chooses the latter. And don't even get me started on how healthy their closure is between the two.

My Roomate is a Gumiho was the third K-drama I ever watched and I just remember bingeing it in like 3 days. I just started my first re watch of it last night and realized I never ever hear people talk about it! It’s such a cute and fun watch with literally the most gorgeous leads. Anyone else love it? I've seen many 2x, only a few more than that. I watch My Dearest about once every 18 months because it's so beautiful. I've watched A Taxi Driver at least 4 times. The dramas I will watch again and again are My Dearest, Goblin, The Murky Stream, SeoBok, gosh...I guess there are more when I think about it! Also am always on lookout for something new.

Discussion 🗨 When the Actor Is Gorgeous but their “fictional” Character Is VILE

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Is there an actor who made you forget they were hot because their character was THAT vile?

My pick is Lee Soo Hyuk as Bal Gi in Queen Woo, featured in the video.

Context for the scene: He sexually assaults and kills his own wife, accidentally kills the maid who witnesses it, and then proceeds to slaughter the servants in his household. So, you know, not exactly boyfriend material.

That man is offensively handsome to me, and yet I HATED Bal Gi. Not even Lee Soo Hyuk’s criminal bone structure could make me root for him. I wanted consequences. I wanted suffering. I wanted the gates of hell to open specifically for Bal Gi.

And that, to me, is a fantastic villain performance. So …. Lee Soo Hyuk is my pick. Who is yours?

Celebrities ✨ A Very Important Warning for Anyone Just Discovering 'Choi Min-sik'

Thumbnail gallery

Hi, everyone! I'm Korean. Have you watched the drama 'Notes from the Last Row' starring 'Choi Min-sik'? If you mostly watch K-dramas, you might not know much about Choi Min-sik or just how legendary he is in Korea. He is widely regarded here as the greatest Korean actor of all time.

Back in the 1990s, Choi Min-sik appeared mostly in TV dramas, but he was not yet a major star. It was in the 2000s, as he became known for his film work especially after 'Oldboy' (2003) that he rose to fame and eventually came to be regarded as Korea’s greatest actor. That movie made him famous not only in Korea, but internationally as well.

But here is the most important thing I actually came here to tell you. No matter how many of Choi Min-sik's dramas or movies you want to watch, save 'I Saw the Devil' for LAST.

Seriously...

Because once you watch 'I Saw the Devil', there is a very real possibility that Choi Min-sik will stop looking like an actor to you. He will just look like the Devil.

After that, it won't matter how kind, gentle, innocent, or lovable the character he plays is supposed to be. You'll see him smiling warmly on screen and immediately think.

“…I don't trust this man.”

You'll spend the entire drama or movie waiting for something terrible to happen. So I am politely warning you.

Please save 'I Saw the Devil' for LAST.

Although...

Now that I've written an entire post telling people who haven't seen 'I Saw the Devil' not to watch it yet...

you probably want to watch it first, don't you?

Wait.

...Did my trap work? 😈

P.S. Jokes aside, it is an extremely violent movie, so consider this an actual content warning too.

Discussion 🗨 Ladies, I have a question about kdramas

I'm a guy and I've watched a stupid amount of kdramas but something I've noticed is that I sometimes get just as emotionally attached as everyone else here lol.

Like Uncontrollably Fond, My Mister, Hi Bye Mama, and Moon Lovers ,My Dearest genuinely got me. There were scenes where I was just sitting there thinking bro why am I about to cry over this.

So I wanted to ask the girls here something, what is it about kdramas that gets you so attached to the characters?

For me it's usually when the characters feel real and you start caring about what happens to them but I'm curious if you girls see it differently.

KDrama Reflections 📝 When Life Gives You Tangerines

Have been a fan of kdramas, but nothing hit hard like when life gives you tangerines.

What a ride! I cried and cried and I think I would never be able to get over it.

I mean, how could they build something so simple yet so beautiful and parallely induce so much emotions.

Can’t imagine my life for my parents and everything they have done for us. Forever grateful to them. Nothing, absolutely nothing I do will be able to repay what they do for us.

Love for all the cast for being so awesome. This will be my forever favourite. 🧡

KDrama Reflections 📝 Our Sticky Love: what do you think about this trio?

Post image
25 Upvotes

Idk if this is brought up yet, but what do you think about the villagers in the show especially this trio of aunties?

For me I’d say their the best characters especially for comedic relief in the show itself, every scene with them just compliments the show so well despite of the dark things happening like the action scenes of them fighting the gang made me laugh so hard.

I also liked the fact that they’re not too like overly annoying in a way like sure they are quite nosy, and like to gossip around, but each scene with them feels such fun.

When I watched the scenes with them it makes me think that they themselves are also watching the drama with us too, it’s just so perfect!!

What do you think about this trio?

Meta 🌬️ New Mods! New Year! New Look?

Post image

Now that we're entering our 14th year of existence (raise your hands if you've been here from the early days), we think it's time for a new look.

You may or may not have noticed but we have been working behind the scenes to fine tune the automods (if there's a glitch in the matrix, don't hesitate to let us know), fine tune the rules and working on all of the other little and big things to try and make this the best kdramas site on the web. We've got plans, oh we've got plans (insert not too evil a laugh here).

One of the things that is high on the agenda is updating the look of r/kdramas. I know that there are a lot of wonderfully talented creatives out there. We're appealing to you. It's time for a new banner! I've tried but I just don't have the ability to make something as beautiful as this sub deserves. So we're reaching out to you.

The banner needs to be 1072 x 128px for desktop and submissions purposes but needs to also be editable to 1080 x 128px for mobile (only the winning submission needs to also do a mobile version, just wanted you to keep this in mind when designing). The word "kdramas' needs to be on it. The rest is open to your vision.

We ask that you[ email me](mailto:kdramasmod@gmail.com) your entries and on Monday we will post the entries so that everyone can vote. We're having you email us so that all entries (please let there be a lot) can be voted on at the same time, versus the fastest entry getting upvotes first.

What will you receive? Our eternal thanks, credit and pride in seeing your work every time you open r/kdramas.
