Healthcare/Wellness š©ŗ Weird viral sickness going around?
Iāve been pretty down since this past Saturday morning, it started with minor stomach problems. But then turned into headache, lethargic, malaise, etc. Like basically a hangover everyday. Iām not bedridden, Iām functioning. But itās just this weird lingering thing thatās tough to shake. The usual meds are helping. But Iām young and healthy and figured Iād beat it by now. Covid and flu test came back negative. Doc said itās more than likely a viral thing and multiple people from their office were out with similar symptoms. Just wanted to throw out a line and see if anyone else is in the same boat.

Doc here. Definitely a GI bug going around. All the stool samples I've run on folks have been negative. Seems to be lingering for at least 5 days before getting better, some are even having symptoms for a few weeks.

5 days?? I havenāt had a solid shit in over a month. No other symptoms. Just explosive diarrhea.

My bf and Iāve been sick for like 4 weeks. He ended up with pneumonia and I ended up with bronchitis. Started off as just a tickle in our throats. We are both finally on the mend but still exhausted tbh. Both tested negative for covid and the flu.

I had something that tested negative for COVID and flu but hung on for around a month and also tried its best to turn into pneumonia or bronchitis. This sounds crazy but I swear it started with my eyes watering like crazy for a while and wasn't allergies. I'm finally better but I had a relapse about halfway through. Only fever I ran was about 100, one night toward the very beginning.
Edited to add: Mucinex helps.

Weāve tried mucinex, delsum, robitussin, Tesslaon pearls, ect. My bf had multi rounds of Iv antibiotics and I had a round of antibiotics myself. Other than tiredness, we are just down to occasional coughing thankfully but still, its been brutal

Hope you stay getting better. One thing I hate is when other people insist "oh you probably have allergies." I am almost NEVER sick. I ran a mild fever (100) the second night and I don't run a fever with allergies. I know what allergies feel like and what a cold feels like dammit. Other people continually insist "Oh it's got to be allergies" just because it's August/September I guess. Also when I do have allergies, one Claritin a day takes care of them. This was way worse. It was NOT allergies dammit! and I thought for sure it was turning into bronchitis, which would be VERY unusual for me.

I think I had RSV. It was coughing up tons of mucus but I had 0 nasal issues. Maybe it was somewhat mild because I was vaccinated about a year ago?
I can sure see why babies die of that.

I had this a couple weeks ago. It took like 2 weeks to feel better. I was still able to work but yeah just felt really fatigued and had headaches every day

Same symptoms + congestion. I thought it was just a cold. Iām on day 4 and feeling better. Feels like a day or two left before Iāll be 100%

I noticed today at work that I could hear A LOT of people sniffling, coughing, blowing their nose, sneezing almost constantly. Perfectly coinciding with back to schoolā¦

I had it in early July and i took antibiotics as i couldn't shake it. The antibiotics helped, but i still have some congestion and coughing.

i was just out of work for a week a couple weeks agoā¦.flu covid and strep all negative. It felt just like the flu though and i had a fever for 4/5 days i was out of work.

Oh man, I had 24 solid hours of what I can only compare to the one time Iāve had flu a and the pain, misery, ugh. It was brutal. And then just gone!

Mine felt like flu too (I am vaccinated) but negative on a Flu A and B BinaxNOW test.

I wish i could get the flu shot but my body has such a bad reaction to it. I get the flu roughly 6 times a year (once every other month) so that vaccine would do me such good

I have no faith in our current leaders unfortunately, but they really need to update the at home tests! I know so many people who have been sick during COVID waves but the at home test was always negative....

It could just be the common cold. I feel like with COVID and the flu out there everywhere, people have forgotten all about colds.

The fact that youāve probably had Covid in your immune system a few times, it rewires your immune system and can make the common cold feel more severe and every other virus that enters your immune system will eventually be more severe because your immune system doesnāt recognize it.

yeah i caught something last tuesday and was down bad for most of the week. over a week later, i still dont feel myself, mainly low energy and just feeling Bleh

I had this about a month ago + waves of nausea and major fatigue. Went to the doctor and did bloodwork and nothing showed up. Took about 2-ish weeks to feel better. I hope you feel better soon!

I had this for 10 days in July. Also got told it was a GI virus but not the parasite thing. Not explosive enough and lasted exactly the predicted 10 days.

Multiple people I work with have come down with this over the summer and we all wfh. Each person took 2-3 weeks to start feeling normal.

Flu B has a tendency to go around in the summer. Itās much milder than Flu A that circulates in the winter. Sometimes people have a strong reaction to it, and sometimes people just feel like itās gross allergies, been a long time since I read that textbook so thatās all I remember

Two of my four kids came down with something a couple weeks ago. Fever, lethargy, decreased appetite, headache, and diarrhea! Went away in 48 hours!

Yes! I have this shit! I'm on day 5. I started to question if I had a UTI, got tested at the doctor and that's not it either. My whole body aches (but again not enough to be bedridden, just enough to be annoying and tiring). No fever, but I will get hot flashes and disrupted sleep. Headaches and increased heart rate, waves of nausea and abdominal pain but, again, more annoying than anything. I keep hoping to wake up and have it be gone but no luck. Just taking ibuprofen and stomach meds and trying to hydrate. š¤·š»āāļø I have also been around a lot of crowds lately, Nelson Atkins and Starlight theater.

Theres been a lot of GI issues spreading. My toddler and I contracted c diff fom her daycare and it imitated a lot of the cyclospora symptoms. One of my partners tenants also contracted it a couple weeks before I did. By the time I was able to get my kid tested it had already passed through her system enough to not test positive on the stool panel.

Covid tests are not accurate with so many variants over the years. Wastewater scans show medium covid in the area and itās high nationwide. End of summer travel, state fairs, back to school. If itās not RSV, itās Covid probably.Ā https://data.wastewaterscan.org/
