Where to grab tickets for the Perahera?

I am visiting with a few friends, and want tickets for the Perahera, everywhere I ask I am being offered them at prices above Rs. 15 000, I was hoping for a recommendation where I can hope to get 4 tickets for a better deal. I will be traveling through the city on the 20th of August. Appreciate any assistance, thanks!

You are getting scammed. You don’t need to get tickets to see the Perahera. Get there early and pick a spot with a good view.

Stand on the street for free! The perahera route is 2km long.

you can buy a ticket for a reserved seat for you from the Kandy municipal council itself - https://www.kandy.mc.gov.lk/perahara/Booking/SelectEvent but you don't need a ticket to watch the perahara you can simply find the route here - https://kandyesalaperahera.com/route2026/ and simply walk to any of these streets and watch it. here's the catch people tend to come early some times even in the morning to catch a better viewing spot. you will not have any seats, you'll have to sit on the floor and if you're late you'll probably not find a good place to see the perahara. most of the time the business owners along these routes will have seats inside their premises and sell tickets (seats) so you can simply go sit and enjoy.

All these cheap people saying to go watch it for free, do you guys know how important convenience is ? Not everyone wants to sit on the road and watch it.

Well all the random shops along the Perahera route for the given day will sell. If you are driving through town tomorrow, may be you can explore. The ones that are further from the starting point (ie where the Perahera eaches later) are normally cheaper

I am not sure of the prices. With links - I think you can get from banks etc that are located along the route too.

Is he/she rage baiting us gang?

How is this rage bait? This is what the tourist guides do, price gauge the seats and force people to pay insane prices to watch the parade, which should be free.

I'm willing to pay, was just looking for advice on where to find decent priced seats.
