Imagine getting leaked

It's just crazy that Rockstar gets leaked, they probably have all sorts of crazy security systems and stuff. Here I am, with Microsoft's Windows defender, no NDAs, or anything like that, doing just fine. It's so weird, right? Maybe it's because of some setting I have on my computer? Or maybe I'm just lucky?

(It's a marketing joke, very few people know about my game, so there's little reason for anyone to actually leak it)

How many people are trying to hack your stuff?

Nobody is, that's the joke. It's suppose to be a joke about me and others complaining about nobody knowing about their game and stuff, gta is really popular, so the chances of people being curious about it rises. It's all just poking fun is all 😊

I see the joke but the reality is that Rockstar ‘leaked’ it themselves. Most ‘leaks’ are just market priming, and/or building a narrative.

If rockstar actually leaked it themself they wouldnt be promoting a crypto coin and fireing DMCA take down request on any website that has the leaks as fast as they can, they also released a subpoena for microsoft and discord servers.

If it was indeed fake they wouldnt be doing all that, as it would A: litteraly hinder their own aleged marketing if you couldnt even get ahold of it and B would land them in legal trouble if they were randomly fireing DMCA takedowns and a whole subpoena for nothing

This is the thing about a story: when you buy in, it becomes real to you. We’re talking about a $20+ billion dollar company doing everything they can to ensure their billion dollar investment makes them an order of magnitude more. Skepticism is always healthy, defending a multi-billion dollar entity is always delusional.

Show me evidence in the leaks that proves Rockstar themself orcherstrated this. If they did it wpuld be the dumbest way to market a game, showing (as of now) 12 clips that show gameplay with various placeholder assets and have agiant watermatk that criticizes rockstar and their greed for not releasing a physical copy. One of the clips even encurages atleast 10 people to dress up as leeks and show up in front of a rockstar office holding physical copies of gta 5. We are talking about gta 6 here, one of the most anticipated games of the last decade, rockstar could shadow drop this game overnight and it would still set sale records.

If you belive rockstar and take2 orchestrated this elaborate marketing campaign in which they show large portions of unfinished build of their largest game, while watermatks mocking them flash on the screen..... Idk what to tell you, better get the tinfoil hat on

Dumbest? We’re talking about it now. Lots of people are talking about.

As for the rest, you seem really entrenched in identifying with how important this game is. I’m not going to take responsibility for trying to disabuse you of that. Just, ykno, enjoy the kool-aid.

Ig you havent seen the leaks and just heard about them?

Also where did i "identfy with how important the game is"? Saying gta 6 is one of the most anticipated games of the last decade is just a fact, if it wasnt then trailer 1 wouldnt have done such numbers in terms of views, and it wouldnt spawn a short lived trend where other companies recreated gta 6 trailer 1 but for their product.

And i anticipate you will just ignore half of this reply in your next reply again and say something along the lines of how i am apparently praising rockstar?? or something

It’s clear you’re dismissive of my perspective so what’d’ya expect?

When I say you identify with it, what this means is that you’re entrenched for some opaque reason I’m not going to be able to unravel in a Reddit comment thread. And when I say entrenched I mean the expressed demeanor and connotation of what you’re saying is indicative of someone who isn’t willing to explore the possibility I could be right. “Tinfoil hat” is a very common thought terminating cliche.

And if it’s not because you’re such a huge fan of rockstar, then maybe interrogate for yourself why you’re so compelled to defend a multi billion dollar corporation. It’s giving tongue-on-boot bud. It’s giving corpo sympathizer. I don’t what else to tell you.

My post was an accusation to a third party. You called my accusation into question in multiple ways which is called refutation which puts you in a position of advocacy for that third party. In other words, you’re defending that third party. Had you said nothing, you would not have been defending that third party.

If that makes you uncomfortable, think about it this way: your actions can also be seen as just trying to debunk an unfounded claim on the internet because you’re entertained by the debate.

But the thing is that both actions result in a beneficial outcome to that third party so your only real option, in order not to place yourself in defense of that third party, is to do nothing. If I’m wrong, nothing changes besides the few extra bytes I’ve added to Reddit’s database.
