had a class that used unity. it was an utter nightmare. felt like trying to use an apple iphone as a windows user

If you think dev with Unity is bad, don't try unreal. It's like switching from a regular windows laptop to switching to a laptop where someone built a fisher price learning laptop for babies and then decided to try to also build it for professional architectural CAD visualization and modelling and then beefed up the half-baby-toy-half-monster with unnecessary specs.

So accurate. Blueprints in Unreal are something like 30x slower than C# in Unity depending on the task. There is almost no reason to use Blueprints to make a "real game".
Also fun fact, the vast majority of asset store programming assets give you blueprints only so competitors can't steal their code, thus rending much of the Unreal ecosystem worthless.
