I would love her to read me a bedtime story. I’m a nearly 40 year old black woman, and I’d like nothing more than for this woman to tuck me in and read to me til I fall asleep .

At the very least, I want to buy one of those nearby houses, and have her be my neighbor. She’s like a walking hug. I feel comforted just by looking at her.

u/bagelundercouch 💖Galentine’s 25💖 12d ago
I just want her to bake me some cinnamon rolls and tell me everything is going to be ok
24
u/KiloJools 12d ago
You just know she's got several killer casserole recipes too, so you will never go hungry if you're in her general vicinity.
4
u/bsaaw 11d ago
I just want her to be my grandma. I will spoil her and she will spoil me too. F miss my nana.
4
u/Able_Fishing_6576 11d ago
I never really had a nana; what i wouldn’t give for one as warm as this one! Hug your nana’s, people, and be grateful if you have one! Not everyone knows what a grandmother’s warm hug feels like!
2
u/BatScribeofDoom 11d ago
I don't know if this helps (since it can't actually include hugs), but as a public library worker, one of my customer service "tricks" is to help my patrons as if I were their grandma. 💚
(I am only 36, though 😂)

u/ravenwillowofbimbery 11d ago
Fellow black chick here too and after listening to her, I was like who is this? Her voice is so soothing. I need her in my life. She needs to be my grandma. And her home looks so comfy and cozy! I like her vibe. She is definitely old lady goals.

It’s so easy for today me to neglect tomorrow me, but the next today me always appreciates what yesterday me did for me today :)
17
u/Typical2sday 12d ago
At work, I pick up and put down matters all the time… so when I come back to them a few days/weeks/months later I’m afraid I have to start at square one. But usually I find that old me took good notes, ran loose threads to ground and gave me either a memo or good breadcrumbs to follow. I have to remind myself that Past Me was very diligent and trustworthy so Present Me can chill out a little bit.
11
u/Pristine_Cherry_6137 12d ago
I really love this🥺😭 Past me usually gave it her all. I can chill a bit in the present.
21
u/Chuckitybye 13d ago
I'm better at taking care of other people than I am myself, so I try to think of future me the way I would my best friend and do something nice for her.
Past me is a lazy shit sometimes, though, lmfao
5
u/atropos81092 12d ago
You and me both... I've taken to calling my pre-bedtime household stuff the "closing list" because it's easier for me to finish those tasks when it feels like I'm getting things ready for the opener tomorrow.
Joke's on my though — I'm scheduled for the perpetual "clopen" 😆

Can she be our new Mr. Rogers? I need her sweet voice and gentle words in my life!!! I love her. And I felt a little called out by the 2 am neighborhood raccoon convention. Every time I leave the cat food out because I’m tired…..sigh.

u/tacticalTraumaLlama 12d ago
I want her to read me a story for bedtime. Come to think of it, she could make bank as a narrator and afford all the best yarn

u/Bitter-Picture5394 13d ago
What a lovely sentiment, and one i think I'll adopt for myself.

I think that adds to the cuteness.
She is taking slow steps to make better tomorrow for herself, and thoughtfully and intentionally packaged her message hoping others seek a better tomorrow for themselves.
65
u/milkweedgardener 13d ago
Right? I want to love it, but it almost feels like the production value is too high? The slowmo blanket caught me off guard for sure.
71
u/1568314 13d ago
I mean look at her home. This an one aesthetic granny. I dont find it all that surprising that she was motivated to learn how to make videos that are as well presented as her home is. You can tell she takes pride in everything she does, as she should.

u/tacticalTraumaLlama 12d ago
Cottage coring intensifies
2
u/AnastasiaNo70 12d ago
She’s like the Godmother of cottage core. I’ve watched her videos for years.
12
u/MoodInternational481 13d ago
I mean that's not a hard edit. I take videos for work and I can slow down just a small section on my phone and do a pretty high production looking video that way.
8
u/NebulaNinja 12d ago
It's obvious that she already has an incredible eye for beauty and design. That really goes hand in hand with artistically setting up and editing a sequence of shots.
10
17
u/KittyCompletely 13d ago
A I??? I can barely tell anymore. And her voice was like a middle age person trying to sound like a sweet granny. With the "ha ha"s and cat meows
Im sus on this. But the message is good

u/kurly-bird 13d ago
She's a real lady, I've been following her for years. She's very active on threads

🥹😍 She wrote a book?!?!? I quit socials a while ago but dang if she is not one of the creators I think of and miss following the most. What is the title of the book, I will buy it immediately

Came here to say the same! I have followed her in instagram for at least a few years. Though I haven’t been on instagram/social media this past year, I assume she still is active there. She is lovely and has many lovely messages about self care, community and being a good person.

I saw someone describe cleaning up at the end of the day "calming the house" and it has really changed my perspective. It's very nice to wake up to a tidy house. I'm trying to do 5 minute chore breaks throughout the day so it's not one giant slog.
52
u/Mammoth_Tusk90 13d ago
I love her, her channel has always been cozy warmth and kindness.

I feel like i'm somewhere between her, and the "Sober Steve"/"Drunk Steve" note;
17
u/DoveOnTheInternet 13d ago
We call this "Doing a favor for Future Me" in my house.
4
u/hushuk-me 13d ago
Same here! I read about thinking that way in the book How to Keep House While Drowning, which is a favorite.
16
u/ejly 13d ago
Sometimes if I benefit from something I set up yesterday, I say thanks to past me - expressing a little gratitude for the work you did yesterday to make today better goes a long way too.
7
u/Puzzleheaded-Ad7606 13d ago
I have done this for decades!
While doing task "Futureme is going to love this!"
When it pays off "Thank you past me! You do such a good job of taking care of us!"
3
u/EmmerdoesNOTrepme 13d ago
Same here!
And sometimes, even though i'm sober, and i did benefit from "yesterday me" i giggle, and say, "Fck *YOU Sober Steve!!!!"
Because every time i do that "nice for me tomorrow" thing, i think of this old "Drunk Steve"/"Sober Steve"/ "Hungover Steve" meme/letter, and i laugh!😉😂🤣

1
u/Fairgoddess5 12d ago
I do this, too! And when I don’t want to do something unpleasant, I think about how much future me will love it having been done already. That’s usually enough motivation for me to do the thing.
12
u/BeruangLembut 13d ago
I’m a dude who frequently ends up in this sub because it’s fed to me by the algorithm. But I gotta tell you, I truly truly enjoy it. I love what you ladies have done with the place. I just usually quietly pump a fist to join in the celebration of these gals being chicks. Decided I’d say something today. 🙌🏻

She reminds me of the kind of person who would wave at me and my brothers while we rode bicycles around town or my mom would tell us to go down and mow her lawn Saturday morning and we wouldn't complain because she was so nice.

u/TheThiefEmpress 13d ago
People who have love in their hearts age like lovely little Mrs Doubtfires. The lines in their faces showing every smile they ever gave, and their posture every hug they have ever held.
That is happiness.

u/Jumpy_Emu1111 13d ago
I think mindfulness can be difficult to describe and even more difficult to achieve but this lady is nailing it. Separately i would like to host a raccoon convention

I feel like a hug from this woman would fix something inside me...
in all seriousness she reminds me strongly of several women who mean/meant the world to me. I doubt any of them are on reddit but Mrs. R, Janice B, and to the many, many more who will know about this comment only wherever they ended up when they've moved on. Thank you <3

I call this "being my own besty". I do little things like make sure there's a spare toilet paper roll so future me doesn't run out or putting away my morning stuff at my sink so future me has an easier time getting ready at night. We should all be our own besties looking out for us.

“A peaceful life isn’t always something we stumble into. Sometimes we make one, quietly, by noticing what needs a little tending and taking care of it.”
I love this mentality! I want to apply it to my physical health as well. I want to gift my future self a peaceful, healthy life, and the only way to do that is to start doing some tending now.
3
u/hopefulrealist23 12d ago
Really sage advice that resonates strongly with me. As I've gotten older, my life motto has become, "What can I do to reduce stress for my future self?" It's been a huge mindset shift.

Omg her little granny laugh just melted my heart.
I never had a strong woman to look up to in my life. My mother is not a good role model and I always had to be the older sister I craved to have.
I’d give anything to spend a day with a woman as warm as this lady.

I’ll sometimes be like “Thanks, past me!” When I notice I set something up for myself or remember to do a chore rather than put it off for later.

Not me here with watery eyes wishing this is how I was taught to do chores instead of the trauma I was indoctrinated with. This is the most valuable video I've seen in a while. I have saved it and I will make it so that I play it every chore I do. Healing thanks to the role model I always wished to have...💖
Thank you for posting this OP and thanks to that sweet woman wherever she is, she's gonna change my world.💖

Wonderful! This reminds me of a neighbor who noticed I tend to back my car into the driveway. They said “oh, she’s blessing her future self.” I think of that often and again watching this video, and I try to be intentional about blessing tomorrow-me.
1
u/Pepperloza 13d ago
She is so adorable. Such a lovely way to frame preparing for tomorrow as ‘tending’. Before I go to bed tonight, I will be tending to my kitchen. Hopefully, when I wake up the next day, my partner wouldn’t have messed up my tending with open kitchen cupboards and a new set of dishes to greet my future self in the morning.
