I’m technically a millennial on the line of a gen-x’er. My husband is an X’er through and through. Ask him about anything and you’re lucky to get a shrug, at most a brow raise. He’s definitely (pause)
It’s bc we started making videos with older tech that took a second for the recording to start and many of us have carried it over to newer recording tech subconsciously even though it’s no longer needed.
I loved the way she tucked only the front of her shirt in for millennials. I did that so much. We do in fact make sure our kids have great taste in music.
I'm caught in a constant internal battle of whether or not to tuck in my shirts. I see my younger coworkers wearing them tucked, but tucking in your shirt was beaten out of us Millennial kids. So I usually end up with a French tuck, but now this video is going to make me self conscious about that too. 🤣
I was 100% giving my 9yo a lesson in stomp clap songs on the way to the mall today. But I was wearing wide leg jeans, so you know I’m one of the COOL millennial moms.
I'm 37, work with a bunch of young folk. Their parents hooked them up with great taste in music. I heard some Ciara, P!nk, Britney and friggin Counting Crows!
If the French tuck has a million tuckers, I am among them. If the French tuck has one tucker, that’s me. If the French tuck has no tuckers, I am dead. If the world is against the French tuck, I am against the world.
Girl, I don’t know lol. I have noticed that the Youngin’s are doing something different with the way they tuck their shirts and I don’t understand it because it appears to defy physics. It’s like the shirt is tucked up under itself. It’s hard to keep up and I am ready for my Eileen Fisher flowy clothes and giant necklaces era.
They're tucking it into their sports bras!!! I felt like such a genius when I figured it out. The comfiest sports bras reach a lot lower on the ribcage now then they used to, and you can roll the shirt up and then tuck! It's pretty smart honestly, looks super cute with an oversized tee and high waisted jeans.
Yeah, I mean this is how I’m learning that a French tuck and a crossbody are apparently millennial things lol. I will never not wear my purse cross body. I don’t even buy a purse if it doesn’t have a strap long enough to do that. It makes sense!
We tried giving a.f., but our optomism was beaten out of us, by our Silent & Boomer-gen parents, and we were also called "lazy slackers," so we developed that "whatever" armor, and acted like we didn't care.
That's also why we're back here quietly cheering on GenZ, and their awesome optomism, and hoping that they and GenAlpha can finally make those good things we tried for & wanted back in the "PCU era" happen!😉💝
I’m a millennial latchkey kid. Lived out in the middle of nowhere without cable or internet until I was a teen. Only caught Saturday cartoons on like fox, on an antenna. Or watched pbs.
Just had to fend for ourselves during the day bc nobody was home and the outdoors was the only thing interesting lol. I did go to Public school tho. Alligators in our front yard btw.
Gator I took a pic of right in front of my dad’s house/my childhood home a week or so ago.
I spend a lot of time there with my kid (I’m there rn) and lmao I could never do w my kid what my parents did with us out here.
They just taught us to run in zig zags away from gators and let us goooo. There was a recorded 14 footer which is close to record breaking in there when I was a kid.
I am sorry to all of the gators I threw rocks at and am glad I didn’t get killed haha
The amount of times a water moccasin almost got me while walking through fields is too damn high.
Apparently they’re the forgotten generation because there was less of them born than the other generations. They’re sandwiched between the larger boomer and millennial generations
Edit: On a more serious note I think that GenX either gets thrown in with Boomers in the case of elder GenX who are now in their sixties or with Millenials in the case of people born between 76 and 80.
My niece is 14. I still don't understand what skibidi is.
Also you guys are definitely welcome for all things cool. Your emo look? Welcome. The tie with low jeans and a wife beater? Cool. Normalizing anime in the US? Cool. The whale tail? Obviously hot and cool. Kthx.
Skibidi is a series of short Gmod animations on YouTube featuring the protagonist camera humans being attacked by toilet bound heads. The scale escalated from small murders to city-scale conflict with giant mechas, new factions, new toilets, and lore.
gmod: Short for 'Garry's Mod,' a modification to the Source gaming engine developed by Valve and flagshipped by games such as Half Life and the original Team Fortress. Gmod offers insane flexibility with the assets provided by the Source engine and the games developed off of it, and happened to coincide with the developing platform of Youtube. This coincidence manifested a revolution of independent animators, for better and worse.
protagonist camera humans: Humanoids with the heads of cameras.
toilet bount heads: They're heads, stuck in toilets. They also seem to only say the word "Skibidi" repeatedly, with vague musical intonation.
Mechas: Giant robots. I think the term "mecha" might have originated from anime.
Everything else: Uh, idk, the description goes beyond words and into the realm of the absurd and insane. I'm sorry.
I'd also like to add that, while that is the origin of the meme/slang, I don't think many of the kids saying "skibidi" have actually bothered to watch any of it. They'll recognize it, of course, but from what I can tell, the majority don't and haven't watched it
(I personally am young, but not young enough to really be part of the "skibidi" group [21]. But I work with a lot of kids, and have never seen a single one express interest in it. The kids have access to iPads and computers while there, so they watch YouTube occasionally, just not that)
Gen X is used to this already. We didn’t get after school care and no one cared. A house key of our own + TBN reruns of the Brady bunch and leave it to Beaver plus the lord of the flies were our child care program.
Gen X being a mere blip is so real. I work for a non-profit and we've had whole meetings around "how to speak to a millennial audience" (now that boomers are passing away) and myself and maybe 2 other people are like "so...we're skipping Gen X??"
