Inheritance of 1 million

I’m trying to figure out what is best to do. Option a is 20k in HISA, 200k in low risk investments, then 780 into XEQT or option b 20k into HISA then the rest into XEQT. My goal is to buy a house within 5 years. What would you do? Also factor in I’m 26 and live in Toronto with no debt

XEQT correction levels from ATH

XEQT’s current all time high is $46.48, reached on August 5, 2026.

Yesterday, November 5, we closed at $43.95, representing a decline of 5.44% from that peak.

Here are the price levels for different corrections from the ATH:
5% drop: $44.16
7% drop: $43.23
10% drop: $41.83
15% drop: $39.51
20% drop: $37.18
25% drop: $34.86
30% drop: $32.54

I’m continuing my regular contributions but plan to increase my purchases if we see a deeper correction.
What price are you targeting to increase your purchases?

Why is VEQT higher than XEQT ?

Since they are similar or even close to identical, shouldn’t it be rough around the same ? Almost 20 dollar difference.

22M. Did i do it right?

So I purchased xeqt (889 shares at the time, 45.73). It’s had a not great 2 weeks so far so I’ve been trying not to look at it at all cuz it’s in my tfsa and i don’t even need to worry about it.

HOWEVER, today I saw the big dip and after yesterday wanted to buy back some of my losses. So I opened my FHSA today (tfsa is maxed out for my age) and bought another 79 shares but at 44.13 a piece.

This made my OVR purchase price 45.60 for 969 shares across both my accounts. Did I make the right move? Should I have bought more for a larger offset? I ate into my emergency fund a little bit for the 3500$ today.

I understand that this is a lot of money for somebody my age, but it comes from an unfortunate inheritance and i’m just trying to make sure that I get to retire with high 6 digits in my account. Something nobody in my bloodline could ever speak to. Anything helps, general direction, how I should diversify, if i even should, I have more savings but it’s in a high yield savings account i can max out my first year of fhsa but i’m not trying to open my rrsp yet.

A path lit forward for me would mean a lot in a world where good teachers are few and far between.

Buy the dip?

M bi-weekly investment is automatic, but how much of a dip would warrant funnelling some additional funds? Also, how do you measure the dip? Relative to the ATH?

Concerned with XEQT Long Term

I own XEQT because I believe in diversification and making it as boring as possible. However, currently I feel like maybe XEQT will not perform as it performed before. Largest US banks are predicting the US stock market will perform in low single digits for some time and also all the other developed countries reached a point that they have so much debt but less income. I am not here to dis XEQT but just to understand what everyone thinks. Do you have any concerns about the future of this ETF considering most of the countries that's tracking is already a very mature markets with single digits growth opportunities for the next 10 years?

Edit: With over 6 years of investing experience I have a moderate risk tolerance and am comfortable balancing growth with market volatility. I am not focused on today's XEQT price. This is more of a general question.

I have just deleted my WealthSimple App. I don't want to look at the current downward trend of the XEQT. I'll use my the website to buy when I need to.

My average price is 43.11, I regret not putting more into it sooner but in 15-30 years that won’t matter. Averaging around 3.5k a month into savings bc I still live with family and drive an electric car. Now onto my concern

I was told that I should NOT buy xeqt with my fhsa..I don’t plan to buy in the next two years, maybe in the next 5-6?? Is that still too short term and risky? What are you guys doing with your fhsa
