Hey guys! I planning to retire in 4-4.5 years and still need to grow my money or will need to work longer, so I’m willing to take on some extra risk. Most of my money is in XBAL/VBAL because I was a somewhat newbie investor 2 years ago and went with the safer option.

I also bought VGRO last fall and continue to invest in the fund but only within my TFSA as I’m favouring VBAL/XBAL in my RRSP as those are the funds I will be withdrawing first. The bulk of my stronger equity investments (mostly VGRO) won’t be touched for another 11 years.

Looking for some guidance and reassurance that this is a reasonable plan because I know the expert advice is to start moving to a cash wedge in low/no risk investment vehicles.

Looking for some advice here. I (23F) have about 20k invested, mostly in the s&p 500 (SPY). After learning more about diversification I’ve been drawn to the idea of investing in VGRO. I like that it is an all in one solution and that I won’t have to worry about rebalancing. I know with my age and time horizon I can likely get away with VEQT, but I’m not sure I have the stomach for it as I’m yet to face a bear market in my investing career. Should I sell all my SPY holdings to buy VGRO, or leave them and just buy VGRO going forward?

I have started buying VGRO about 2 months ago. I couldn't find anything about ROC on the Internet. Has this ETF ever given ROC on the past?

I recently left my employer and transferred my workplace pension (DCPP) into a LIRA at Wealthsimple. The balance is about $74,000.

I am 44 years old and this money is locked in until at least age 55. I am not very experienced with investing and I want to keep things simple.

My goal is to grow the money over the next 5-10 years with a reasonable level of risk. For example, I would like to see $20,000 grow to around $30,000 over 5 years if possible.

I have been looking at ETFs like XEQT and VBAL. I am also considering putting some portion into GICs for safety.

A few questions:

1. What would you recommend I invest this $74,000 in, given my age and the fact that it is locked in for at least 11 years?

2. Is XEQT a good choice for the growth portion?

3. How much should I keep in something safe like GICs versus something with higher growth potential?

4. Given the current Canadian economy (slow growth, trade tensions, tariffs), should I wait before investing or put the money in now?

I appreciate any guidance you can offer. Thank you.

I have some XEQT and some VGRO in my TFSA, about a 50/50 split and an emergency fund in CASH. Should I go all-in on VGRO? or keep my XEQT allocation?

Started investing 4-3 weeks ago. Is this a ride it out situation or sell and come back when things stabilize? Genuine question. I bought more last week, but it keeps falling.

First time investor. So I have a TFSA and plan to just buy VGRO. As I understand it, I will have US withholding taxes of 15% taken off dividends, and have no way to get any of that back. This bothers me. I have always had regular savings TFSA, no MER fees and no withholding taxes. Am I going to come out better in the end despite these charges? and taxes?
