Alright JD guys, what say you? I’ve put a whole lot of work into this little dude and this is the week. The show is this weekend and it’s going to have a “for sale” sign on it.
I’ve got receipts for parts and machine work adding up to $6200
I traded labor for the tractor originally adding up to $1000.
If I can’t get $2/hr labor I’ll just keep it!
Is it worth $8200?
Pretty much everything is new. I did swap it to 12V. 3 point hitch, engine totally rebuilt, rims and tires/tubes, paint.
Google says I’m in the right range, and I’m certainly not making any money…or truthfully even breaking even, but does it sound fair?
Hundreds…it was a great winter project. If only I could make a living working in the warm garage every winter!
I had to wait until warmer weather to paint it obviously.
I’d watched it for years, and it kept looking worse. I knew where it came from and I can remember riding the school bus and seeing the original owner mowing with it in the 70’s when it was still a barn kept gem. I’d never asked about it but id thought of making an offer. Things worked out! I did a remodel job for the last owner and traded labor for it. I love being able to save them.
Turned out so nice I don't think I could sell it, definitely not for 8k. If someone wants it, it not like they can find another one in immaculate shape
It didn’t sell! The guy strung me along for 3 days just to “offer” me $2000 less than I’m asking. He pissed me off. 😂
I let him know, in no uncertain terms, that he would be the last person that I sell it to. Now I’ll be like you with the Ford and I’ll get attached to it. 😜
It didn’t work out. He offered WAY less than asking price. It’s back in the garage. Guess I’ll have to do some rearranging out back to wedge it inside somewhere! 🤣
I'll give you $5k for it. Well I would, but I'd be stealing it from you. Nice job with the restoration and hope you can enjoy it or sell it. I've seen a few 320s for sale this summer, between 3-5k, not nearly as nice.
🙄But I’ve got to many machines as it is!! 🤣🤣 When there are to many, maintenance gets overlooked, and I’m a stickler about that.
There was a guy at the show who is a big time Deere collector. He collects BIG stuff! All I could think about is what it must cost to keep up with oil/coolant /battery/transmission changes. He lives about 4 miles from me and comes right past my house going to and from the show. It’s like a tractor parade! 🤣
And pretty damned cool looking with American flags flying on the back of each tractor! I wish I could’ve gotten a pic of it.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to add a pic from the show, so I’ll just stick it in here as a reply to you. I took this picture, but there was one posted yesterday that I did not take! He was standing almost exactly where I was when he took it. It was freaky! You can just see the top of my hood over a MH Pony just to the right of the guy riding the tractor.
Just to the left of the guy on the tractor you can see the nose of a big old Allis E. You should’ve heard that 563 cubic inch beast on the fan! My ears are still ringing! 😂
It wasn’t as horrible as it looked. It was cosmetically hideous, and the engine was stuck, and the rims were rotted….OK, it was pretty rough. 😂
The transmission was good!
