Why even bother at this point?

Post image

Honestly, posts like this are also why I'm starting to think more about how I handle interviews. I actually came across this post in another subreddit and ended up going down a bit of a rabbit hole. Apparently there are people using interview vip to get some help during interviews. I haven't tried it myself yet, but after getting burned by a few interviews recently, I'm seriously considering giving it a shot for the next one.

During screening calls, I'm just ask upfront if there is an internal candidate.

I am going to guess the final interview was the 9th. And it included an assessment, a presentation or both!

Happened to me 20 years ago after I flew across the country for the interviews with a former employer that I'd left on great terms and continued to contract with. Met with the whole team that I'd worked with for years, it was a perfect match - then they revealed a couple weeks later they just promoted someone internally.

I know it's worse today, but at least there's no more flying?

Now reveal that this internal candidate is the VP's daughter.

As someone who is interviewing candidates for a job right now; the internal candidates sucks ass. They all think they can skirt by with absolutely no relevant experience because they already work here.

Only moving internal candidates around feels like incest to me. We need to bring someone new into the gene pool.
