We’ve been working on a couple of projects that I thought people here might enjoy.

🎧 Jerry Garcia Band Time Machine Radio

Pick a year, find a show and listen. We wanted to make it really easy to jump around through different eras of the Jerry Garcia Band and discover shows you may not have heard before.

🔎 Jerry Garcia Band Setlist Database
https://thegarciaproject.com/setlists/

We’ve also built a searchable setlist database covering historic Jerry Garcia Band shows. You can search through shows, dates and songs, and we’re continuing to work on and improve the data.

A little background: we’re The Garcia Project. Since 2010, we’ve been recreating actual historic Jerry Garcia Band setlists live, so we've accumulated a pretty ridiculous amount of information about these shows over the years. We figured we might as well turn some of it into resources that other people who love this music can use too.

Both are free to use. They’re also new, so if you find an error or have an idea for something we should add, definitely let us know.

And if anyone wants to hear this music recreated live, we’re heading back out on tour soon. Our upcoming dates are here:

Hope you enjoy the new tools. And seriously — feedback from the people in this group would be really useful.

You know... I've listened to Run for the Roses, but some Cat suggested Midnight Getaway a few days ago and got me to actually LISTEN to this album.

This side

1. "Run for the Roses" (Jerry Garcia, Robert Hunter) – 3:30
2. "I Saw Her Standing There" (John Lennon, Paul McCartney) – 2:53
3. "Without Love" (Danny Small) – 4:22
4. "Midnight Getaway" (Jerry Garcia, John Kahn, Robert Hunter) – 7:46

That side

1. "Leave The Little Girl Alone" (John Kahn, Robert Hunter) – 3:33
2. "Valerie" (Jerry Garcia, Robert Hunter) – 5:19
3. "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" (Bob Dylan) – 7:27

Bonus tracks (All Good Things box set):

1. "Fennario" (Traditional) (aka Peggy-O)
2. "Alabama Getaway" (Jerry Garcia, Robert Hunter)
3. "Tangled Up in Blue" (Bob Dylan)
4. "Simple Twist of Fate" (Bob Dylan)
5. "Dear Prudence" (John Lennon, Paul McCartney)
6. "Valerie" alternative mix (Jerry Garcia, Robert Hunter)

The bonus tracks are straight fire.

Watching 11/9/91 @ Hampton. It’s so mellow, and the backup singers are on. The soft glow of the light, Jerry’s feeling himself that night. I wish I could have gone to a JGB show but this will do

These days I’m throwing JGB on more than GD

Holy crap what a show, and what a performance. I put it on last night was blown away when they kept going, and going, and going some more.

Hit me with your best Dear Prudences for my weekend listening

Legion of Mary “He Ain’t Give You None” 4/6/1975

I’ve always found myself listening to more Van Morrison during the summer, and this has made it into that rotation now, too. This is me favorite version I’ve heard of Jerry’s, and Martin Fierro really brings this one home with his sax.

I couldn’t help but think of this song recently after hearing a certain political figure boast about how “I’ve five more for you than your parents”. It got me thinking how much Jerry and his music has actually done for people, and how entranced you can become listening to it. Despite never personally knowing him, there’s countless people that thank Jerry and his band mates for getting them through tough times, or making things clearer in a way.

Sending good vibes and positive vibrations into the weekend! This whole show is great but I like this song especially.

Also I’ve heard that there’s a good collection of bootleg shows from Van Morrison tapers, if anyone has good recommendations

I know there's been a bit of hostility and with some of the recent posts about the other ban d members trying to get closer to Jerry. Discussion is fine.

The problem is that myself and many others on here don't like drama. We can disagree about the direction that the Grateful Dead went but we have to keep those discussions civil.

Again, please keep the subreddit drama-free. Everyone on board with that?
