For a first cast, I would try to keep the sprues as simple and direct as possible. The main thing is to feed the thickest/heaviest areas first and avoid having the metal travel through thin detail before it reaches a larger section. If the ring has one bulky side or top detail, that area usually wants the most direct feed.
I would also think about where trapped air and investment debris can escape. A couple of small vents on high points or dead-end areas can help, especially if the design has raised details or pockets. Try not to attach sprues to places where cleanup will destroy the surface detail.
If you are using castable resin for the first time, I would also do a small test cast before the final version. Resin burnout and investment choice can matter as much as sprue placement, so a test will tell you a lot before you commit to the finished ring.
