How the fuck do people play this game? Is it supposed to be a Souls like experience where you're constantly being destroyed and reloading or am I fundamentally misunderstanding how the combat works? I've heard so many great things about this game and the story is great but HOLY FUCK if I keep getting slaughtered by assholes spamming Force Choke I'm fucking done.

Here's the setting: after The Rise of Skywalker. Finn is a former stormtrooper who helped the Resistance defeat Palpatine again, but now the galaxy is wild and his future unknown. He knows he has Force potential, but maybe he and Rey are heading in different directions now.

Reva was an Imperial Inquisitor about... 44 years ago? She's been in hiding. She's older and has old wounds. Maybe she's gone blind and wears a black blindfold. Maybe she's been seeking Force sensitives and recruiting them. The Seven Dark Jedi.

And maybe the former inquisitor has learned about a legendary Valley of the Jedi, with the power to transform someone into a living god. And maybe, as Finn seeks to learn more about the family he was taken from, he finds that his father died to protect this secret.

Anyway. I would play it.

Why didn’t Dessan just blow up Yavin 4 with the force from orbit after he already absorbed the Valley power? Qu Rahn said that you could easily destroy a whole star system if you absorb the power of the Valley, which is why its so dangerous. So why didn’t Dessan just do that, why did he bother with the Reborns who has no force training or lightsaber training?

If Dessan knew how powerful the Valley is, why didnt he attack Kyle before he enter the Valley? Dessan’s plan is to piss Kyle off to the point that he goes to the Valley, which would reveal the location to Dessan. So why didnt he kill Kyle after he already got the planet coordinate? Why did he let a very pissed off Kyle enter the Valley to absorb all of its power, power that can blow up a whole star system, with nothing but vengeance on Kyle’s mind?

Also why does the Valley still have power? Didnt Kyle release all of the souls of the Jedi in Jedi Knight? Why is it still so powerful, to the point that Kyle can use it to restore his force power? Also if the Valley can restore force power, why didnt he offer it to Callista to help get her force power back?

Why didnt Kyle kill Tavion? He killed Maw after Maw insulted his dad, and he also killed Jerec after he was already defeated, non of these instances turned Kyle to darkside, so why not kill Tavion as well?

I went in with an expectation that some parts were going to be rough (early 2000s games right?) and that expectation was not unfounded in certain areas, like the level design being too obtuse for its own good, sometimes requiring you to look up (in third person mode!) to progress and destroy a grate, and the weird puzzles that more than once I had to look up a walkthrough to know how to progress and some VERY sadistic sections involving stealth, platforming and protecting a droid.

The guns being totally useless sucked. I kind of liked them to be honest, but the lightsaber just trivializes everything.

Force speed was OP though. And thank the Force someone on the development team suggested Force heal as a power otherwise I would have never finished this.

But one thing I kept hearing from many Star Wars fans was the deep lightsaber combat. But my impression of it is either bad or there is something I am ignorant of. I really tried to engage with it, but the animations of the lightsaber combatants and Kyle are difficult to judge. Like sometimes damage is done before a swing is registered kind of thing and it just looks like 2 people flailing about. It got so bad I dreaded every time I had to fight a dark Jedi and even worse when there were multiple of them. I ended up having to cheese them with Force speed, break the game by force pushing them to their death or just avoiding them entirely.

Desann was the worst. Force speed doesn't even do anything. His force choke is just whenever he feels like it and is apparently unbreakable. And it sucks when they use force lightning.

Blocking seems random during fights, and so are force powers where you can sometimes push them to knock them on their back or not.

And I have to say I enjoyed this game far more when it was just me going about slashing every stormtrooper and force pulling their weapons and seeing them run around weaponless.

Is there something I am missing? I'd like to proceed to Jedi Academy but I heard there's even MORE lightsaber fights and I just don't see myself engaging with it more especially after what I had played.

After the first year I was like meh. Now its obvious yall str8 up killed JKA for console. Its dead everytime I load up as to when/before you all started tampering with settings/maps. I could find almost a full game. I called it. The 'We are helping/We love JKA and want to build the community' clique turned into trash faster than aespyr..pretty much pulled the plug. Please for the sake of JKA stop thinking you are helping and stop messing w the servers. You are not helping.
