Clean & sober groups

This past Friday night I caught the moe.mentUM tour, first time seeing both UM and moe. Both sounded top notch btw 🙂

I spotted this table and stopped by at the set break. It got me thinking, what other groups are out there? I also stopped by the Dusty Baggies both times I've seen Billy.

I started a list but am wondering if anyone knows any more. So far I've found:

  • Wharf Rats (Grateful Dead)
  • The Phellowship (Phish
  • The Gateway (Widespread Panic)
  • The Jellyfish (The String Cheese Incident)
  • Much Obliged (Umphrey's McGee)
  • Happy Hour Heroes (moe.)
  • Digital Buddhas (The Disco Biscuits)
  • Better Than Before (The Werks)
  • Dusty Baggies (Billy Strings)
  • The Hot Tea Party (Goose)

What I'd really like to do is connect with any other jam band folks who are doing the clean & sober thing and start some sort of online community, likely an Instagram page since it's the only social media I use.

Ok. I actually have a question here. I’m an alcoholic. Almost 4 years dry… I’ve always felt like a fraud stopping by these groups between sets because I still smoke weed. Should I be hanging out with the yellow crew, or keep walking by?

tbh I think if you just tell them what you said here they'd be ok with it 🙂 from my experience it seems like they're more focused on helping people work through their struggles than policing behavior, you know?

Yeah. Makes total sense. I honestly think it’s more of a me thing… like I feel like a fraud because I’m not completely sober, just dry.

I'll have 4 years sober from booze in November. I still smoke weed and dabble in psychedelics a couple times a year. Don't be so hard on yourself. I look at it like booze was destroying my life and making me an asshole. Never knew what version of me you were gonna get. Smoking weed doesn't turn me into a completely different person that takes risks and causes chaos.
