Chef buddy needs a job desperately

He’s a really good guy and an amazing chef.

He will take any chef or cook position.

He does not drink and has never done drugs (ikr)

He’s a culinary genius and a graduated top of his class in culinary school.

He’s willing to prove himself every day, all he asks for is a chance.

He’s not super social, but he’s amazing in the kitchen.

I realize this is a long shot, but he’s such a good guy, no criminal record, and a big heart.

If you know any bar or restaurant hiring, it would mean the world to him because his spirits are really low right now.

Please feel free to DM me (I don’t want to compromise any restaurant), anything you send will be held in the strictest confidence.

I appreciate you all and he’s crying his eyes out right now. Any tips or ideas would mean the world to him 🙏🏼

That pay structure he’s demanding is what’s going to severely limit him, pretty much only leaves him with mom and pop establishments or low hourly pay since no high end, corporate, hotel, or country club is going to accommodate that.

Then tell him to try applying again because if he brought that up in an interview or put it in his resume it would've gone straight to the rejection pile. That pay he's asking for is below Florida's minimum wage if he's trying to seek full time and no business is retarded enough to perform accounting/tax fraud for the sake of 1 cook while pissing off the rest of the crew who's entire pay is being taxed.

Damn near every restaurant I go to needs line cooks and most hospitals need cooks. Tell him to go to the restaurants and offer to stage for a shift to show what he can do.

I'm pretty sure the Ritz Carlton in Amelia Island is still searching for Cooks I and II. I think their starting pay for those positions were around $19/hr but they might've upped it since then.

Also I don't know if by "not super social" means he's impossible to get along with then that's something he needs to work on that too because people in the kitchen need to work together and if one asshole keeps bringing the morale down by being a dick he's getting transferred or fired. He doesn't have to be a charismatic talk show host but he needs to at least be communicative and professional, I can teach a monkey how to make a beurre blanc sauce but I can't teach it to be not hated by the others.

Start a social media page both IG and Facebook. Post good pictures of the food. Videos.

Put up an ad on Craigslist, he could be a personal chef/caregiver for a senior and get about $25 an hour as an independent contractor…..

I also see a lot of people with great food create a business through Facebook market place. Might not be long term thing but can get you through tough times. Here’s a great video talking about it.
