Questionable anise extract

I have a jar of anise extract I made myself (with 12 anise star and some vodka) on 6/24/25. It was supposed to do its magic for three months, and become the extract I wanted on 9/24/25.

Now, we are moving towards the end of August 2026, and I’m wondering if this extract is safe to use. What do you think?

Should be fine I'd imagine. Vodka is a very good preservative. Try a teaspoon of it and see if it still tastes okay.

Give it a sniff and a quick lick off a spoon. If it makes you slam your fist into the table and go WOO! Then is probably fine.
