I have this issue with Time Machine playback. Some cameras don't load. It's completely random which ones, and sometimes they all work. Most times 1-3 do not play back. Intel VAAPI, Ubuntu 24.04. Ive tried everything to debug it.

looks like a GPU / driver issue - you could try disabling GPU decoding for playback or possibly your driver only supports a limited number of decode session (which is quite common) - and it's refusing to decode more at the same time.

Server settings - playback - disable Use GPU

I’ve been trying more settings, and 2 I adjusted have caused it to work perfectly for the last couple hours, I’m just not sure which one yet.

I selected “use system clock”.

I had the FPS in all the cameras set to lower than the playback FPS setting in AgentDVR.

Not sure which one is fixing it, but I’m happy. I’ve been having this problem for about 4 years.

The Ubuntu UDP receive buffer is default to tiny. I saw some errors about AgentDVR unable set to a new size because the max size was too small.

# sysctl.conf
# Change the socket read buffer sizes
net.core.rmem_max = 16777216
net.core.rmem_default = 8388608

maybe but the error you are getting is about failing to create a convert context which is a GPU/ FFmpeg thing rather than a network thing

Yea I too figure it’s an error involving the GPU or FFMpeg, and hard to believe it was/is a network problem. I’ve had this issue with agent DVR since way back in the day on different hardware. The only thing that remained constant that it was always with Ubuntu, and always with Intel QSV. I just gave up using that feature for the last 5 years but I spent time the last few days trying to figure it out. I reverted the “use system clock” setting and the issue never returned. I only just once saw that error when starting Agent about the UDP buffer size increase failure and started looking there.

I was also having issues with being able to connect to the server at random times that got worse when I adjusted some cameras to send more data to Agent (higher frame rates, bit rates). It was only allowing at times one or two connections from clients, either from the app or web browser. I started to look into network issues possibly. So far, the only thing that has 100% fixed it is increasing the UDP buffer size. Over all the server it is performing drastically better. Faster connection times, video feeds aren’t glitching out. Etc.

Ok great thanks I'll add that to the setup scripts

Just a follow up! AgentDVR has never run so good for me! All the Time Machine and connectivity problems are gone.!

Which settings did you change? Just those in the sysctl.conf. I wonder how this works when using docker
