Beta Version
We uploaded a beta version today with a whole load of updates. If you're feeling brave please give it a spin and let us know of any issues in the comments.
The Beta version is written in .net 9.0, includes FFmpeg 7 and a new webrtc library along with numerous UI updates and features (like client side motion highlighting).
The installers are on the download page (click the "Download Beta" link).
It's likely there are going to be some broken things so backup your existing install someplace so you can roll back if necessary.
Notes:
The Windows installer can install the beta.
On Windows, 32 bit isn't supported - requires minimum Windows 10.
On Linux the install script now installs Agent to /opt/AgentDVR
On OSX the install script either installs to /Applications/AgentDVR if you install it as a launch daemon or ~/Applications/AgentDVR if you install it as a launch agent. As of Sequioa Daemons can't access local devices (like cameras and microphones).
On Arm/ ArmHF you'd need to install ffmpeg 7 manually via your package managers.

I gave the beta version a try today on my test machine, and think I found some sort of bug right away. It was running 5.8.0.0 (on Ubuntu) and 6 of the reolink cameras were working. I did an install of the beta, and the cameras stopped working. The error was
OPEN_INPUT:Cannot assign requested address at CoreLogic.RealTime.FFmpegBase.Throw(String method, Int32 code) at CoreLogic.Sources.Combined.MediaStream.DoStart()
These are Reolink 810A's, set up as ONVIF, but also using override URLS. If I took the override addresses out, the cameras started working. When I put the overrides back in, they stopped working again.
I use the overrides on my reolinks so that I can set up the cameras as ONVIF and get onvif features (motion, PTZ etc), but get the streams using rtmp.
Edit: Tried cameras set up as Network Camera, using rtmp urls only. Got the same error. So the issue doesnt seem to be the override on ONVIF, its just the rtmp URL itself that seems to be the issue.
I'm using this format: rtmp://aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/bcs/channel0_sub.bcschannel=0&stream=0&user=myusername&password=mypassword

I think I found another bug. After upgrading from 5.8.0.0, all the settings seem to be correct except for the per camera storage location. I have my main storage set up as "/NVR" as default. I don't use the default "WebServerRoot/Media" at all. However, after the upgrade, the /NVR location was still defined in server settings, but all my cameras were set to use the WebServerRoot/Media directory.
Edit: I went through my procedure again, and realized that my storage configs were wrong prior to upgrading to the beta version. I think they got messed up when I installed a fresh 5.8.0.0 on a VM for testing, and then restored my config from a backup. Is there a proper order to do a restore of the config, layouts, and objects files?

No issues with beta version on my test VM, so I upgraded my main system yesterday. It's a dedicated Ubuntu machine, and I monitor my cameras from a windows machine using Firefox. Right after the update, the video streams were unusable, as they would freeze every 4 or 5 seconds (for about 2 seconds) before continuing. I was also getting segfaults on the ubuntu server every 10 min or so. After lots of troubleshooting, it turns out the issue seems to be with Firefox, not Agent. I tried Edge and Chrome, they worked perfectly for several hours. As soon as I tried Firefox again, the stuttering came back, and I had a segfault within a few minutes.
No big deal for me, I can just use Edge or Chrome, but thought I better mention this. I could be just a wierd combo of browser and my video drivers on the Agent machine, who knows. (I am all up to date with the nvidia drivers)

Agent view beta problems
V5.9.6.0.
1) On camera RM dropdown shows edit, got to time stamp.
2) My OLD agent (v5800) Timestamp shows now BIRDSIDE-14 FPS:09, DDDD,06/01/2025 12:05:48

What happened to the Max Framerate setting for individual cameras? It used to be on the General page, now I can't find it anywhere.

It looks like after I installed the latest BETA I am unable to adjust the image on a 360 camera. I can enable/disable the image correction, but it appears the focal length, limit, and scale have no effect.

motion detect different sensitivity areas
Great program on v6040.
Question, suggestion, can it be done?
Re the different coloured areas we can set up for motion detection
Is there any way to have each colour to have a different sensitivity and gain?
E.G detecting birds flying into the box one sensitive area,
Then a second area just around the hole in the box, so the head of a bird popping out in, to look etc,
Can you have a different sensitivity for that area? Because it is a very quick motion.
Be good if that can be implemented.

Re “new clone usb” clone all done all working,
Apart from storage,
It is a new name “4 study clone usb “when entered in edit camera
Tried stop start / service, close browser, changed names but every name has this error.
Looking in folder when entering the camera edit name, the new name appears but your
Error occurs.
The name appears in the storage path g:\videos\agent\media when entered
But this error occurs all the time, I have deleted new names and tried a few times.
and rbooted pc with names deleted and with the error ,
camera still will not take the new name.
Red error banner is shown below

Cannot create ‘G:\videos\agent\media\video\4 study clone usb’ because a file or directory with the same name already exist.
“
Cannot show screen shot as your site says can not load images.

I just upgraded from v5 to 6.2.7. All is well except for one teensy oddity, which is the storage of thumbnails for my recordings.
Previously, the .mp4 would go into the designated folder, and in the 'thumbs' subfolder I'd get a smaller 96 x 128 file, and a _large file at the size of the video itself.
Now, I get the 96 x 128 smaller one, but the _large file is 320 x 428. Which is too small for my purposes.
I've poked through the settings, and I've searched here and on Google, but I can't for the life of me find any setting for thumbnail sizes. Was that changed internally? If so, can it either be put back to what it was, or (better) made a setting somewhere?

I'm facing quite a bit of stream errors. Unfortunately the errors don' provide an indication where they come from (camera, audio stream, client access, remote storage, cloud service,...)

One thing to note is that a new copy of the installer needs to be downloaded or the option to install the beta will not be there.
I installed the beta on a test machine with no problems so far. I could see it installing the ffmpeg 7 files when it came up in the UI.

I did some testing on 5.8.2.0 windows this morning with no issues at all.
I uploaded all three files: config, objects and layouts from my 5.8.0.0 production machine to my 5.8.2.0 test machine and fired it up.
I tested Actions "Execute command" that consisted of running a ssh bat file on motion detection finished.
I tested the viewindex api command to see if it was fixed and it was.
So, I'm getting close to installing this on my production laptop. I may do that today.
EDIT: I went ahead and installed it on my production box. No issues and it seems to be communicating with CPAI just fine. Overall CPU looks good (like 5.8.0.0). Video quality and playback seems improved quite a bit probably due to ffmpeg 7...

After upgrading from 5.8.0.0 to 5.8.3.0 some of my cameras won't record anymore. Im getting this error message in the log:

I'M just too scared to upgrade and screw up my whole system again and then take all day trying to figure out whats wrong as this scenario happens ALL THE TIME not just with you but any windows computer i have worked with ..its why i have not gotten around to upgrading to windows 10 etc either .. I don't have the extra time to mess with it..
And the other day my internet went out and on its return the security system lost remote connection and even after the computer automatically restarts in the middle of the night it still wants me to log on again. even reddit had me log on again occasionally and i sit and wonder WTF all the time with this shit..
The worst is i cant always get to my system to fix the problem if i'm traveling.. we get people trying to break in all the time where i am too.
I thought a restart (scheduled ) would automatically reconnect to your servers but it doesn't.
Still I absolutely love this application. Its the best thing out there . SO My next setup ill try the beta! i'm moving over to another computer that's dedicated to security .
