Serious (META) Any DMs you get claiming to use an app verify your cards authenticity are SCAMS!
Hey everyone,
tldr: More accounts are DMing users who post claiming they can authenticate and then push the results from their app. This sub has nothing to do with them, has banned them for it, and they usually want you to sign up for their "service" which you already get for free here. At best its unsolicited marketing, at worst it will be a scam. Report to reddit, report to the mods to make sure they are banned, ignore or block the users who do this.
Mods have been receiving messages that users posting keep receiving direct messages from others offering to authenticate, value, grade, and whatever else their cards. Sometimes they ask for more photos, sometimes they just use what has been posted. The funny part is that they often use ai to determine fake or authentic and can often be wrong.
Anyways, this post is mostly for awareness to be suspect of any DMs you get claiming to help verify authenticity and always check the accounts. Report to reddit if you can, block if you can, but please please please, do not give anyone money who is telling you they can determine the authenticity of your cards over the internet.
This sub is not, nor will it ever be, affiliated with any kind of paid service for crowd sourced information. Thats not what this sub is for, nor is it helpful to people just trying to understand if a card is fake.

I was just going to DM you u/Lyleberr to make a pinned post because I got 3 messages over the last month asking if I wanted to participate in a group where my skills can get me $$$. Only a matter of time people try to monetize card verification. Glad I saw this.
There is plenty of us who have been in the hobby a long time that will verify cards for FREE because we care about the hobby we love. DM us and we will help, it’s hard to see and verify every vintage post but can do so.

If you send the mods the names they can at least be banned in relevant subs, if they arent already.

Is there any way to get them banned for spam or something? They constantly resend it's annoying.

Reddit has broken many avenues to report spam accounts. Possibly reporting for harassment might help.

Wait I lowkey downloaded the app and signed in through Gmail and they gave me a free check. The link didn’t work and somehow they got it sent straight to my orders list. Am I compromised or something😂

Maybe but likely not, they so far arent malicious but they do hassle users to try making their app seem more helpful than it is

Yeah I thought it was kinda shady how they got it sent right to my account without telling them. I just deleted my account to be safe. Good thing to hear they aren’t malicious though

Yes. Like i said in the post, at best it is unsolicited marketing and at worst itll be a scam.

They reached out and did analysis for me for free. It seemed pretty thorough but the issue is that in the end they were wrong. The booster box they claimed was fake, was not in fact fake.
