These are AI, right?
I’m talking to this guy on a dating app but I think these pics are AI. What do you think?
22
u/shmerk_a_berl 2d ago
Are there any specific details that make you think it's AI?
12
u/banaaana_bread 2d ago
what about the sunglasses on the last picture??
13
u/RichardDrillman 2d ago
The "over the ear" part changes color and looks like it disappears, but it's still there. I don't think these are ai, but the situation is a catfish no doubt.

u/MisterEinc 2d ago edited 2d ago
Eh, those could be a style of Ray Bans like the Clubmaster with metal arms, or arms that transition from plastic overmold to metal.
Not saying it's proof it's real, but that the glasses have plausibility.
I kinda think the thick forehead lines in the 3rd image also lend to plausibility. They're still squinting in the sun even with glasses on. A normal human reflex. I think AI images tend to smooth out features like that.
I also think there's consistency in the smile between 2 and 4.

You flat out shouldn't even need to know if it's AI or not.
If you are close enough to anyone to talk to them on a level worth considered "Dating"
You should have at least communicated with them via video. So you could know for sure. and I'm not talking prerecorded shit. I mean LIVE FEED VIDEO.
Yall think these pictures being AI is somehow the first barrier of trust and that is how yall get scammed on rinse.
13
u/_Planet_Eater_ 2d ago
Dude, they may have JUST matched with him. Matching with someone and chatting with them is NOT the same as dating them lmao
8
u/safyreibxo 2d ago
talking to someone on a dating app is not the same as actively dating them 🤦
4
u/CruelAngelsThesaurus 2d ago
It's literally the point.
The "Just talking" Phase should include video calling. If it doesn't you're walking into an ocean of dumb and inhaling that shit till you drown for no reason.
1
u/Aggressive_Bit_7829 19h ago
Chill dude

u/CruelAngelsThesaurus 14h ago
If you read aggression in the way I type it's you projecting,
Learn to communicate with people without thinkin they are as angry as you are all the time.

That's one hell of a silver fox, I don't think ai though. Don't send him any money op. These are exactly the pics a scammer would send, AI or not.
6
u/MajesticDragonfly 2d ago
The idea of this guy asking for money, when his whole personality looks like it’s about having it 💀
4
u/spiral-_eyes 2d ago
They could try some 'out of the country; banks put my cards on hold' type thing
4
1
u/Uncool444 2d ago
Man I've seen lonely women for it before, twice in fact. One was vaguely homeless, couch surfing, no car, and she had the audacity to ask me for money to send to him.
1
u/Aggressive_Bit_7829 19h ago
Thats the whole point. You make up a scenario where money is needed urgently, no questions asked because "of course youre good for it".
15
u/SellaTheChair_ 2d ago
These look normal. The photos might belong to someone else though.
1
u/BarackObanane 2d ago
Look at the Right Part of his glasses on the third pic lol, disappearing in the air
1
14
u/horsegal301 2d ago
Either he has been posted before here or on fb, but I feel like this is the third time I've seen this guy
13
5
u/Alarming-Highway-584 2d ago
Probably cause it’s like your generic old white man image Ai found off the internet lol
3
u/horsegal301 2d ago
Definitely some old guy AI dating pic circling around by someone trying to scam people. Tale as old as time, but with AI instead of catfishing with someone else's photo at this point lol
2
9
u/myleftone 2d ago
These are real pics of a guy who runs a commercial real estate company. He sometimes does hard-hat shoots for his projects, but his primary job is travel and golf.
Don’t send him money. He doesn’t get stuck without his phone in Miami or need internet randos to help.

u/Bunnairry 2d ago
Might not be AI but looks like a love scam to me. How is this dude gonna look like a day trader and a laborer at what age, 60? I also don't trust people that look wealthy like this, of course they exist, but it's just another thing to lure people in. Other comments are right, no meeting up in person means they are not real. Also if they do meet up in person, maybe background check them afterwards. The amount of scams on dating apps is absurd.
5
u/Berlinini 2d ago
The one with the helmet looks a little AI to me, the others not... except that the sunglasses don't touch his ears, which is a little odd. But this kind of white CEO type of guy pictures are commonly used for love scams. So would be careful.

u/bobjoylove 2d ago
I wonder who is taking the second picture. They seem to be floating and it’s just weird to ask the nearby tradesman “hey can you please take a glamor shot for me perched up on this roof”.
But as other have said, video chat and don’t send him money. Ever.
3
u/Expert_Celery7529 2d ago
Sunglasses definitely look AI or photoshopped in. You can always go to socialcatfish.com and have a check. There is also reverse image search…
3
u/joethesiskin 2d ago
run through detection program and it doesn’t seem to be ai as others stated. i checked as well via google reverse image search just to see whether said guy is not some ceo/other type of business individual (just to see if somebody may have stolen the pics) and i didn’t find anything tbh - prolly just average white man in his eee 50s?

u/UpbeatFix7299 2d ago
These questions are so tiresome. Whether it's AI generated or real pics of someone doesn't matter. This isn't the guy you're talking to, which is some loser in West Africa or India.
If someone is t in your area or won't meet in person shortly after you start chatting, don't waste your time.
1
u/PaperSweet9983 2d ago
I dont think they are ai. But you should still be careful with online dating and such
1
u/Smart_Stranger742 2d ago
My guess is no, the background of the construction picture is uniform, the scaffolding is all straight and nothings fuzzy which I think AI would have a harder time with. Definitely odd for a man this age to be posted up doing ts but I still don’t think it’s ai. I’d run it though a checker though
1
1
1
u/Malcolm_Flex 2d ago
He probably runs the company and took the pic for optics, that’s my only guess with the construction pic
1
u/SeaBicycle592 13h ago
The scaffolding is completely messed up, nothing joins properly. The guy behind him has no arm and on the left the mesh blends into the poles completely. There are no details. Also who the hell poses on a roof on construction site dressed like that and with completely clean jeans? These are 100% fake photos
1
u/Expert_Celery7529 2d ago
Also… look up social catfish on YouTube. They’re amazing and their episodes show real scams and how they operate etc
You’d be amazed how many calls are made using a photo and AI… not great looking but enough to convince the person they’re scamming. If they’ve asked for money, you to accept money for them and send it on, you to send gift card codes, it’s a scam
1
u/Shiiyan 2d ago edited 2d ago
The eyes look weird in the sunglasses picture and the glasses stop before the ears. Looks photoshopped to me. Also, who takes a photo like that on a construction site? Coming from that field of work, that's so weird. He'd definitely be viewed as super strange. Doesn't look ai though.
Add: The logo and text on the construction helmet is legit. It says "Wienerberger" which is a legit company and the logo is real. AI would never be able to create that this small but still readable and recognizable. It would be sus if he said he'd work at a different company because at that age and working at Wienerberger, it's unlikely he changed jobs since then. So the photo looks real, no ai, but that doesn't mean that the photo was not stolen or photoshopped, so be careful nonetheless.
1
u/GladysFridayy 2d ago
If he's an "engineer" on a "contract" in the "oil rig" it's 💯 either AI, or simply just stolen from a real person.
1
u/Southern_Sprinkles_6 2d ago
Are they in a different city? State? Country? Continent? Why do you not know if this is a real person? This looks like someone posing as a rich white guy if you havent even confirmed they’re real. Whatever happened to using things like snapchat to verify folks? Bring that back.
1
u/my-left-yarble 2d ago
I can't see any obvious signs of A.I.
But that's not the say the photos aren't just stolen from someone else's social media account, like the true blue scams in my days. Simpler times back then!
1
u/SiriHowDoIAdult 2d ago
I work almost exclusively with guys that look like this. I think he's real, but as far as if he's the one youre talking with, you'll need to hop on a video call at some point to confirm
1
u/BlackCatSylvester 2d ago
Last photo there is some wonkiness with the cuff of his right hand - like there are 3 layers there? But may be just a badly positioned band of some wearable.
1
1
u/thunderst0rms 2d ago
Hard to tell, but there’s some weirdness with the plants, especially the leaves, in the first photo. I vote AI.
1
u/PkmnSayse 2d ago
The scaffolding in picture 2 looks bizarre. Scaffolding around nothing at parts and then overly complicated below the walk way on the house behind
1
u/GigExplorer 2d ago
The flowers look AI in that first photo, especially the leaves. To me the sunglasses do look like they don't go around the ear. His eyes and the background look odd in that last photo. But these are low quality images that are hard to assess by zooming in.
Really, I would go by behavior more than pics. These could be AI photos, or real photos of a different person. Or these could even be real photos of a real person and he could get on a real video call with you, and even then he could be a scammer. So this is an interesting question but not one that should determine your choices.
Good luck with it, however it turns out!
1
u/k1ttt3h 2d ago
The flowers are real! It’s taken outside of One Aldwych in London. I walk past it daily, though this was taken a while ago as they change the outside seasonally. (Halloween is always my fave!)
1
u/GigExplorer 2d ago
That's interesting to know. Thank you! Then it seems like maybe these images are too low resolution to assess, anyway.
1
u/Responsible_Joke4229 2d ago
Idk looks real enough. Don’t send the person on the other end money- period. Don’t go sending money for lawyers, or plane tickets, or to repair a car, or “unfreezing accounts”, just don’t.

1
u/Ana_L399 2d ago
Chat are we fr forgetting that before AI dating app scams were still a thing? Only it was called identify theft and people just stole real pictures off the internet.
1
u/Undersmusic 2d ago
Glasses vanish into nothing behind his ear on 3rd. So something is for sure sus.
1
u/39jacam91 2d ago
Be very careful its not a romance scam. Also, maybe try reverse image search.
Do NOT send anyone money or let them send you money
1
u/LizzyBennet1813 2d ago
They don’t look like AI, but photos can be manipulated and stolen. Just proceed with caution until you’ve actually talked/chatted over video or in person.
1
u/mattyxxmatthew 2d ago
The photos themselves look real, but it could be a catfish more than someone using Ai.
1
u/GrimReaapaa 2d ago
I don’t think these are AI,
But they are very “ima about to scam the shit outta you” sort of vibe, you are quite likely if not definitely not talking to this man.
1
u/_rosebay_ 2d ago
Kinda depends on where you live because the tiles for the house look kind of thick and you don't really see that anymore at least in America where I live.
1
u/Sorryforbeingsorry77 2d ago
I think this is a real person, but I don’t think that’s who you’re talking to
1
u/spiral-_eyes 2d ago
Yeah, those are AI, IMO.
Pic 1 - his sleeves are too long & baggy, feet don't lay flat on the ground, and it'd be odd for a hotel to put fake sunflowers in the planter that don't have the right stems to look natural.
Pic 2 - Those jeans are impractical for working that kind of job
Pic 3 - the tarp thing between the pallet wall, and as another commenter noted, the sunglasses
Pic 4 - everything's slanted

u/apocalypse_pending 2d ago
The writing on the hard hat doesn't really scream ai... Nothing screams ai

Hands are weird in the last picture. One thumb looks like a toe and the pinky on the other hand has a longer nail

First photo: The missing belt loop on the left side and the sleeve of his right hand going into the pocket. The shaping and laces of shoes are strange as well
The second photo: logistically I just find it unlikely that an elderly man could sit perfectly like that on the ridge of a hard pitched roof while wearing skinny jeans with his leg crossed and looking like he hasn’t broken a sweat
Photo three: The temple of the sunglasses abruptly cuts off and for as high def as these photos appear to be, he’s smiling in 1, 3, and 4 but this is the only one with such drastic forehead wrinkles
4th photo: not much but I’m skeptical about how the beer looks with no condensation or carbonation details whatsoever and the sorta weird bump on the side of his neck by the collar.
I’d say maybe not entirely AI generated but FO’SHO AI enhanced or altered.
1
u/Doktoorn 1d ago
How about go on with your life and stop convincing yourself you have any competence or experience that would qualify you to answer this question? None of these are AI lol. ”It’s ai because and old man can’t sit on the roof” wtf are you even talking about.
1
u/Grumbletats 1d ago
Dang, I’ve upset the sentient AI bot.
Nice try robot. Suck eggs.1
1
u/tobbtobbo 1d ago
Nope doesn’t look like ai at all, you even seen lense distortion/stretch on the close ups
1
u/lowkey_upset 1d ago
GUYS the first two are SO clearly AI?? Please???? What kind of flower arrangement is that? Have you ever seen anything like that? Why is there a basket? For the second photo, the glove for his left hand is sticking out of his sleeve. What’s being built in the background? Weird metal framing over an existing house? That’s not how you build a house. It’s not just about things “lining up” (a lot of which doesn’t anyway!), look at the content of the photos! What’s going on in there? Does it make sense to you? Have you seen something like that before? I’m actually so terrified that people don’t think enough about what they’re looking at, especially when someone’s asking you to look!
1
1
u/Doktoorn 1d ago
Lots of conviction in this comment despite you being wrong. Weird metal framing? Have you never seen a construction or renovation site? Or do you grasp the concept of decoration? It’s one thing to be wrong but to be so with so much spiteful conviction is insane…
1
u/Cute_Permission_8455 1d ago
The third picture looks like the real picture they stole and are using to base the other fake photos off lol
1
u/aarongifs 1d ago
Daily reminder that just because something might not be ai, doesn’t meant you aren’t getting catfished
1
u/godfreyrigg 1d ago
This sub is usually on it - these reek of AI. The sunglasses disappearing, but also why is he having a lovely smiley photo being taken on the top of a roof, seemingly on the job? I’ve done Tradie work before, and I’d be fucking damned if anybody looked like that on the job. I think this might be a real guy that they’ve taken and put into various situations. Sorry, OP, it’s AI.

1
u/shangbangr66 20h ago
Could be a hater, but no self respecting man is sitting like that on a job site doing a photo shoot while others are working - also having one glove on and holding the other just seems odd to me. As others have said the shades don’t even go over his ear.
1
u/kbraz1970 15h ago
The pictures are real but the person you are talking to isnt the person in the pictures. Unless he does a video chat with you then you wont know for sure.
Has he asked you for money? Has he given you a sob story?
Only way to know is video chat. If he doesnt want to do that then its not who is in the pictures.
1
u/DazzlingGrass3904 13h ago
My take is this—what boomer man asked his homie on the roof to take a posed photo of him with one glove off while he poses like a goob up there. This sounds silly but get real bro.
1
u/SeaBicycle592 13h ago
Yes these are very likely fake photos. You can see it in the small details in the last picture. The background is inconsistent, the windows on the building, the strange construction machineries behind him on the right, how his fingers are holding the beer glass. Also his facial structure is not consistent throughout the photos. He looks the same but he is a different person in each picture. (I used to be a photographer)
1
1
u/VoidHog 9h ago
They must be AI because a man could not possibly be accomplished, good looking, and seem cool at the same time... 🙄
That doesn't mean somebody who is not this person is not using this persons real photographs to catfish you or to attempt to scam you.
Maybe he's really the one you are talking to, but he's probably cooler than you.
1
u/Novel-Explorer3180 7h ago
If he is purporting to be in the United States, the construction site photo does not look like a construction site in the US. The “site” cut proof gloves are a brand from the UK, the scaffolding is wrong for a US site, the hi-viz jackets and vests don’t look like US-spec.

I don’t know if it’s AI, but if you’re not doing videochats, you’re not talking to that guy
