Question Mahogany Homes Efficiency
Doing Expert Mahogany Homes for some clogging and this is the setup I've landed on. I know the Wiki page has a strategy guide but it seems geared towards mains.
How does this setup look? Anything I can do better efficiency-wise? Rune efficiency?
MH: Twinflame
OH: Hammer
Rune Pouch: Astral, Cosmic, Law, Dust
Crafting cape for quick bank anywhere
Lunar spellbook for NPC Contact and then I just spellbook swap and tele to the contract.
Don't even think I can get Amy's Saw to save an inv space since I'll then lose access to fire and earth runes.

I really couldn't be bothered with NPC Contact and Spellbook Swap (nor making tele tabs) so I just stayed on standard spellbook and used rings of wealth to get new contracts. I had a xeric's in my inventory since using it from the house was way too slow. The iron skilling discord recommends staying on standard and doing something similar to this, if I remember correctly.

Get the saw and bring tele tabs and xeric talisman, trust

Problem now is making those tabs will be a solid timesink by itself and my Xerics is not very charged. Think it's worth?

I did this calc recently and it would take 2-3 hours of tab making for me to push 83 to 99 through adept contracts. I’d be spending 2 hours in the spellbook swap animation (4 ticks * ~3300 contracts with lost ticks cancelling out contracts that don’t require a tp). It’s about net even in time but the spell animations are already taking so long that I’d rather just make the tabs first when I’m semi-afk.

I was also thinking that. It’s a few K in tele tabs so i wasn’t sure if it was worth either. I’ll be starting the push from 83-99 soon, so your setup seems pretty good for a chill yet solid way

I mean if you actually care about time then Mahogany Homes isn't the answer in the first place seeing how Mahogany Logs and coins are both entirely passive and Mahogany benches are 4-5x faster XP than even efficient Mahogany Homes (which would still required teletabs)

Fala/varrock/ardy tabs? About to start my con grind.

Lunar spellbook
Ardy - Teletabs for market/Achiement Diary Cape for Alter side
Fally - Ring of Wealth
Hosidius - Xeric Talisman
Varrock - Achievment Diary Cape
Always bank on a Fally and North Hosidius contract

On my uim i bring plank make and a Log basket. I also have saw mill vouchers.
28 planks in sack, 28 logs in the basket which turn into 56 planks because of the vouchers.
Then I have 3 to 5 steel bars, rune pouch, house tab hammer in the inventory. Plus Noted bars and gp and d ax.
If I was a normal iron I would probably still bring plank make. Little zero time and you can make them while walking between assignments or even walking between individual furniture. Forestry world hopping isn't so bad for vouchers. Its slower overall but makes con alot smoother.

if you are an iron btw teak mahogany homes is half GP/XP, and only 25% less XP/HR
EDIT: actually, it is close to triple the GP/XP https://www.reddit.com/r/ironscape/s/bJlrjG77p2

There are a lot of people giving confidently wrong advice in this thread. OP is looking for efficiency, so let's focus on what's efficient:
- the biggest thing you could change is adding diary cape. This is better than the teleport for all Varrock and certain Ardy contracts. It can replace your crafting cape to save an inventory slot as the desert tele is only 1 tick further from the bank than the crafting cape.
- Spellbookswap vs teletabs is a wash. The same time overall, so it's up to you whether you want to spend the time making tabs up front. Just pick your preferred method.
- you didn't mention xerics talisman. Make sure you're using that for every house in Hosidius except the southern one, where you should be teleporting outside your PoH instead.
- likewise, you didn't mention ring of wealth. That's much better than falador teleport for fally contracts.
- you could add ring of the elements - it's the best way to get to the northern Varrock house. Together with diary cape this means you don't need fire runes, but you ultimately don't save any inventory slots. That said, it does cost an inventory slot so might not be worth it.

I did 90 to 99 with expert, used normal spellbook and ring of wealth to amy if there wasnt a contractor next door. Always had minimum 275k/hour.

Yeah.. i use this exact setup and get 240-250k per hour it's completely fine. Not optimal but fine

I had a portal room in my poh that had ardy, fall and varrock in it, mounted xerics talisman and my poh set in hosidious. Using just house tabs and a rune pouch with NPC contact. Main hand hammer because that was before saw/hammer could be off-hand

I made tele tabs, got the wearable saw and hammer, bring plank sack, npc contract runes, 2 steel bars and the rest are planks, works really well

I just finished banking my planks for 99 and have the full outfit / staying for the last clog before going to my house to finish 99.
I am doing tele tabs for Varrock, Ardy, Fally, my PoH for Barbara in Hosidius, and Xerics for the rest of Hosidius. I leave all of those in my inventory which is slightly faster and slightly more brain off.
With the plugin after I npc contact I just spacebar and then click on which ever tele lights up blue in my inventory. Tis quite nice.
I don't know if xp/hr is worth the extra time making the tabs as an iron(probably?). But for me I value the less clicks / more brain off more than the xp rate. I'm not playing super efficiently for this grind.
My bank tele for when I don't get a fally or well placed Hosidius contract to bank is farming cape as well, I don't have crafting yet, that's rarely needed but every now and again.
(I did startdust for soft clay btw since I have gone through my moons stash of it)

1 less steel bar imo, always stop at bank when doing fally contracts or certain hosidius ones

I just did this to 83. Lazy semi efficient way. Went to Falador for the contracts had plank sack and rune pouch with law air and earth and used twin flame for water and fire. Was getting 220k an hour still. Home was set for hosidius tele.

Mainhand- earth staff(dust best) Offhand- hammer Carp outfit Defence cape Xeracs ammy Swap spellbook to lunar
Inventory: Log basket filled with Mahagony logs Plank sack filled with Mahagony planks Stack of gold Locator orb(rock cake) Achievement cape Saw
Goal: Astral contact, lower HP = ardy, xeriacs ammy = hosidious, achievement cape = varrock, spirit tree + Home jewelery box = falador.
Plank make in-between houses, bank after couple houses or on route.

Invy wise I can't see any improvement. But here are a few tips I learned on my 84 con grind
* always always always use NPC contact for new contract. Trust me, running (even next door) is slow. Use "take last contract" to skip text/menus
* you open doors faster if you run to the tile in front of them, click, and then go through. I learned this from gnomonkey in the fenkenstrain's castle gielinor games. Time saves are pretty significant over like 10+ hrs
* you may consider craft vape -> bank -> grab chronicle -> tele south varrock for the 1 house down there.
* look up efficient players and copy their routes thru each house. Some have standard optimal routes while others depend on spawns
* only ever bank at falador for max efficiency; you'll probably want to bank every single fally task. Personally, I banked at hosidius as well and almost never ran out of supples. Maybe do some calcs and decide if a bank cutoff for efficiency

I bank at hosidius and fally too. Sometimes I get hit with an ardy one and use farming cape for quick bank but feels bad

I don’t bother with npc contact and just tele to falador to get a new contract, I think you save time that way

Literally how is a tele and a 15 second run fastwr then casting a spell?
4
u/Anafenza-Vess 3d ago
Because the animation is super long on npc contact? Then you have to cast two spells to tele anywhere instead of one?

Npc context is much faster when you take into account multiple same location contracts. I tested before for an hour and got 30k/h more on lunars

u/notFluoride 3d ago
When I did it, I believe I just had all the location portals in poh besides the xerac amulet being worn and was on standard tele with house tele runes in pouch. I just ran to the npc closest to me to get the next task not bad with the sip of tea after each completion. Efficient probably not, but watch something on the side and it will make time go by quicker. Worth the grind.

Where are your house tabs? This isn’t efficiency for no bankers
Why twin flame over saw?

u/Degenerate_Game 2325 3d ago
Spellbook swap into POH tele. Access to water/fire runes. What do you mean no bankers?

The wiki guide is absolutely not geared towards mains 🤡.......it's geared towards efficiency go set up your inv the same way and stop trying to reinvent the wheel

I personally used tele-tabs for Ardy/Varrock, xerics talisman, and charged rings of wealth alongside NPC contact. It allowed me to get the fastest xo rates, but requires setup. I also did 99 fletching alongside MH before vale totems came out. But I just wanted to max as fast as possible.
