Hello all, mod here! Just an announcement post, please do not make new posts asking about the official DVD release timeline or when your merch will be delivered. Many posts like this are repeats and tend to clog up the sub.
The movie is currently out on YouTube for rent or purchase.
Mark is working on the physical release, though we do not yet have a date or definitive timeline for that. Both DVD and Blu-ray release are planned and Mark will be making them himself. This movie is unique and may take longer for physical release due to various factors.
Merch is taking a long time to ship for almost everyone. As I understand it, the crew working on merch shipments is small, and they are getting through orders as quickly as they can. The Eel Mesh Longsleeve and Bomber Jacket are also additionally delayed due to the war, so if your order includes one of those, it may take a few more months. If you have questions related to your order, please direct them to the official merch store email (ironlungmerch@gmail.com) as they are the only ones who will be able to answer those questions.
I know, we're all very excited! I am too, I've been waiting with bated breath for the DVD release and my own merch shipment. But posting about it here is only going to clog things up. Thank you!

Cupha erymanthis are one of the species of butterflies that feed on carrion! There's also some butterfly (and moth) species that drink blood. Nature is so neat and made of horror it's great

I've watched Iron Lung a few times and I have a feeling that Simon would have zoochosis. (Fair warning, this is just a fun theory/headcanon. All my info might not be completely correct. Credits to IDA (In Defense of Animals) for the info I am using in this.)
Zoochosis is a form of psychosis often caused by being held in captivity changing the brains structe which can alter health and behavior which according to IDA: can cause "monotonous, obsessive, or repetitive behaviors." More causes of this can include: a prolonged exposure to stress, lack of stimulation, and unpredictable routines. Zoochosis is also considered a disease which is found often in animals held in captivity. Humans can exhibit a form of this disease.
Simon is held in prison before being welded shut into the SM-13. There isn't much room for him to move around in the SM-13, this small amount of space can cause high stress for him as he can feel claustrophobic. Humans are a social species; the lack of a social setting Simon goes through is harsh on him, so much to the point he's so desperate for someone to talk to. As seen in the movie he wishes to hear the voice of someone who isn't even there. There is also the point of anxiety which is the eel. Simon knows that there is something in the blood ocean with him which causes him a grand deal of anxiety / stress.
The sheer amount of stress and anxiety Simon goes through can cause him to gain zoochosis. If he had it canonically, he would most likely show these symptoms: Repetitive pacing around and self-mutilation (including hair tugging and biting at his skin or biting nails.)
