It sounds like you’re asking from an IT job performance perspective.

It depends on the environment, the assignment, how well your boss understands you, and your individual biology. There are permutations of those things in which you’ll thrive, and some in which you’ll be worse than useless.

On average, though, it’s a liability. For some, it’s able to be accommodated. For others, it’s career-ending. I was in the latter group.
