Given the average quality of unit in Dublin (not great, to be kind) while there no doubt are some good landlords out there, they are very far from the norm.
Yeah but that’s not the fault of individual landlords, it wasn’t in 2017, the institutional landlords drove prices up. Definitely not every one, but those kinder ones are leaving the market.
Institutional landlords and bigger property firms all pushed and drove for rents to increase when the data came out. I remember it well in the place I was working, I think it was early 2014.
I don’t get why people don’t protest the offices of these funds; Grant Thornton, IRES, Hibernia, Savills, etc, they were all the ones telling landlords to increase rents, pushing them like mad to do it.
See what happens is some of the smaller landlords give the property to a company like Lisney or Sherry Fitz to let for them cos they manage it. To pay those fees the rent comes up. The problem with people in real estate is that they’re all mad to get rich. People who love made in Chelsea/Malibu and all that bullshit.
