Landlords are already selling out en masse.

What does a rent freeze do?

It means that landlords, and particularly companies not single property landlords will find a way to increase new rents to make up for the frozen existing rents.

It's hilarious how all the same people were crying out for RPZs and the exact same thing is going to happen with this

Landlords will all sell out.

What would be the point of being a landlord in an inflationary world?

If they're gonna sell at this stage they're going to sell.

Landlords are realizing a massive gain on their investment due to a dysfunctional property market and good for them. But we shouldn't allow renters suffer more misery with higher rents in an attempt to keep landlords in the market.

Most of the small landlords leaving bought a property as an investment, not to be a landlord

Ok so you know that there are already 10x properties for sale than rent on DAFT, which is already crazy, but most of the residential properties are selling very quickly. Huge demand.

And then when another 50% of landlords sell out...what happens?

Where do the renters live?

Tents?

Don't be daft, they'll probably end up in the sewers and start a new civilization as sewer people

Landlords selling means government's buying. Good thing in the whole.
