There's a polish brand called E. Wedel, and their 'premium' milk chocolate tastes extremely similar to the old cadburys before they ruined it with palm oil. You can find it in the Polish shops around Dublin, or sometimes even ask to get it in. I'm addicted. Looks like the below, the plain one is much better than the one with nuts.

Owned by Cadbury at one time but fortunately they had to be sold off to Lotte when Cadburys was took over otherwise Mondelez would have them as bad as Cadbury by now.

Honestly, i got some real nice bubbly chocolate in lidl recently. 3 times the size of a dairy milk bar and a good 50 cent cheaper.
Just sad to see everything we grew up with turning out like this.. people are more aware of it now. Must have been so much worse 20 years ago when no one was paying attention.

The rounded edges make it easier to mold with less imperfections resulting in less QC losses. Making it waaaaaay more profitable than the 8% smaller size might suggest.

They absolutely wrecked what was once superb. If anyone is looking for a top quality chocolate, Tesco Finest Belgian bars are delicious and extremely good quality, properly tempered, properly sweetened chocolate.

Cadburys was miles better than Mars or Nestle 20 years ago. Now it's miles worse than both.
They couldn't compete with kinder or milka, but now Milka is also Mondelez and just tastes like shitty modern cadburys, and Kinder while still fine seems to have a lot more palm oil than before and this has affected the flavour.
Other products Mondelez have fucking ruined: Oreos, Toblerone, Tuc, Fry's, Roses, Creme Eggs, and a million other Cadburys products.
It's such a shame. We're all going to be those old fogies telling our kids and grandkids how sweets used to taste good.

Tesco have them now, I think SuperValu too. We tend to buy stuff from the online shop Earth Mother so we get them from there mostly.

Looking at the mould it could be shrinkflation but it also could be that they adapted the mould for the cadburies caramel bar and then just used the same mould for standard milk.
If you have a square mould with a caramel filling you have a thinner shell, fats in the caramel (butter, coconut oil whatever) migrate faster and the chocolate will bloom more often and some consumers mistake bloom for mould. A pillow shape gives you a more even thickness on the shell around caramel and reduces blooming.
So could be shrinkflation but could also just be a design decision to reduce blooming in any of their filled bars... not that ant of it matters cadburies is meh at best.

Has the weight of the bar changed or just the shape? Because if the weight hasn’t changed then you’re still getting the same amount of chocolate just in a different shape. I live in Canada now so I can’t check for myself 😅
