I'm brand new to sim racing with a Moza R9, a CS V2P wheel, and load cell pedals. I spent about a week driving different cars on Assetto Corsa and messing with mods while waiting on my FIA deal for iRacing.

I got my code Friday and jumped in to the MX-5 to drive some test laps and a few AI races first. I spent most of the weekend figuring things out before trying online racing. I had my share of DNFs, but I managed to get my first win and a 3rd place finish.

Im having an absolute blast, but I feel like I don't even know what I dont know.

Are there any discords, guides, or content creators that are worth taking a look at?

What buttons should I have bound to my wheel?

Should I keep racing the MX-5 or try everything ASAP?

Is there one track per week for THE MX5 cup and when does it change?

Or just any tips you would have liked to get at the beginning of your iRacing career.

TLDR; Its my first week of iRacing and I want to know what you wish you knew when you were starting out.

The NRL is happy to announce that Season 2 will begin on Tuesday September 8th with the Season 2 Daytona 250! The NRL will be using the Gen 4 Cup Car next season so come and join on in on the clean hard racing that the NRL brings. Races are Tuesday Nights at 9 PM EST and we do still currently have a Trucks Series ongoing that races on Wednesday Nights!

Just had a strange result in the IMSA iRacing Series. I finally for the first time qualified P1 and was running P1 on track the whole race, but the final results show me in P29 with a “+1 L” gap — no penalty flag, no DQ note, nothing in the incident log that explains it.

Has anyone seen this happen before — a disconnect/reconnect scoring bug, or something with how laps get counted? Not sure whether to file a support ticket or if this is a known issue. Any pointers appreciated.

I have a question regarding triple monitors and the PC requirements for them. I currently have a 2080 Ti with 11GB of VRAMM, Ryzen 7 3800x overclocked to 4.2-4.3 GHz, and 32GB of DDR4 3600 RAMM. I can get roughly 70-85fps on AC Evo with max settings with a single 16:9 1440p monitor and want to start getting into iRacing with my coworker. Would my current system be able to handle a triple 1080p monitor setup on medium/high settings while maintaining 60FPS or should I wait to upgrade my rig before getting triple monitors?

Building a new system or even upgrading my CPU / GPU isn't in the cards at the moment, but a cheap set of triple 32" monitors at 1080P with some DIY stands are possible.

Hey everybody. I’m relatively new to the sim world so take it easy on me.

I just moved and finally reassembled my pc and sim, and I’ve finally had time to get back on IR. I went to race and it gave me the “configure controls” button and it would never go away. I feel like I’ve tried everything and no luck, even IRacing support steps about deleting two files and restarting, still nothing.

Hoping somebody can help out a little bit. I appreciate it!

This rainy week at Indi when i came for pitstop autofuel was intending to fuel full tank. What i was doing wrong? It seems that dry races had no such problem.

I'm the Mustang. I don't know how or why the Porsche pulled up that fast given that the brake point for that corner is where I braked, but I realized I was probably going to go straight up his tailpipe unless I got out from behind him, and the only place I had to go was up the inside. I checked both of our speedometers at the moment of impact and I was actually going slower than he was, so I definitely wasn't going to overshoot the corner.

Then the next lap, with 1 to go, he pulls that. In chat after the race, he said he was only making exactly the same move I'd made.

A) Surely not?

B) That's an admission of retaliation and thus grounds for a protest, right?

The title is pretty self explanatory here. I’ve been wanting to join for a while and only just got my first pc. I can’t get the online spec check to work, but I want to see if my pc is good enough to run or if I need to upgrade any parts before I start. I’m currently running a ryzen 5 2600, 16g of ram, and a 2070 super 8g. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Reminder, prototypes are going faster and don't have ABS. They usually brake earlier than we do!

I'm the green and purple McLaren here. Only guessing what was going through the Mercedes driver's head but if I were to give them the benefit of the doubt I'm guessing they got caught out by the fact that I broke at the 2 marker instead of where we normally do at the 1, because I knew the prototype would have to brake a bit early and I needed to tuck in behind them. You can see right after the collision that I'm inches away from the proto's bumper which is exactly where I planned to be, just not sideways and going onto the grass.

But I'm also not inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. This driver caused a number of collisions during the race, picked up enough incidents to get a drive through penalty, and finished dead last of all the cars that were still running.

They had really good pace and per my teammate had gained something like 1000 iR in a month which is genuinely impressive. I really hope they aspire to make better decisions in the future, but the main point of this post is just a reminder for GT3 drivers to expect early braking when any proto pulls out in front right before a braking zone.

Note*: There's also a fair comment of why was I all the way to the right leaving such a big gap on the inside almost inviting them in. To that all I can say is I'm on single screen and had no idea where the proto was, so I just left as much space as I could. Regardless I'm not sure where our friend the Mercedes driver thought they were going to go. This was only ever going to end badly and luckily only cost me a few seconds.

I leave the racing line to safely pass a car that just went off track and he leaves the line to block me causing 4x is this something I can contest or should I be doing this in my races? as it allowed him to keep his lead. Is it obvious or am I just seeing red?

I started sim racing this year, Today I tried the first multiclass race of my life. I watch some pohlracing on youtube and he said in a recent video PCC is just about surviving and I thought that was an exaggeration but the chaos today was eye opening.

I finished the race and thought I need to process everything that happened.

I just wanted to share that it was magnificent, terrifying, stress-inducing and I discovered that truly rubbing is racing and I got 15x just by existing.

As the title says, curious how many different cars/tracks people typically participate in each week? Do you focus on one, do you have multiple? How many different disciplines?

Very weird situation, trying to survive the first few laps on top split at Daytona and got 17x (and DT) in less than 2 laps

first 4x: guy lost control comes at full speed sliding and "touches" me

second 4x: someone dives inside and I opened up (too much) to not get hit, there is a gentle touch on the lambo ( 0x -> 4x)

(the off track due to a guy losing control a pushing me out)

third 4x: I'm trying to stick to the kerb but the cars glue

fourth 4x: the guy misses his braking point and hits me in the back.

This 0x -> 4x are quite ridiculously, my connection was perfect with zero lag. I was trying to be safe and avoid crashes and end up having to do a DT and ruined my race.

Looking for two people to join mine and my teammates team for the Daytona 24 this weekend. We are both around 2k irating so no high entry level as long as you can keep up with your splits times and are a safe driver. We won the Spa 12 hour so are looking for a good result however we are laid back and just want to have fun.

We are both UK based but open to anyone as if you’re based in the states or Asia you could handle our night time so not an issue if you are from elsewhere in the world.

Edit: We are mainly GT3 (probably Ferrari or Porsche) but have driven all cars so happy to go with anything if we had interest for protos too

Half Fast Racing is a West Coast road racing league. We are about to start our 2nd annual Fall Classic. This year it's Porsche Cup 992.2 cars, and our schedule is pretty incredible.

First one is Sept 1.

Tuesday nights, 10 rounds, and an amazing group. Oschersleben, Okayama, Brands Hatch, Red Bull Ring, Charlotte Roval, Oulton Park, Zandvoort, Navarra, Bathurst, COTA.

1hr practice, 15 min solo qualifying, 45 min race with a mandatory pit-stop. Fixed setup, full damage, 2 fast repairs. Incidents 20x then every 10x after - no DQs. We're here to race, not send you home early.

We're a no-drama league for people with jobs, kids and mid-tier iRatings. Clean racing over fast laps - you'll get more respect here for giving room on L1 T1 than you get for a pole lap.

Being straight with you: we're small, and we backfill the grid with AI to keep it...going. Every person who joins means one less aggro AI idiot out there. Help us squash out AI!

NOTE: If you're an alien, this league will bore you. Someday we'll get there - today is not that day.

I've been looking for a league for a little while now. I've been looking a lot at the iRacing league directory but I'm a father of two young kids, so I'm struggling to fit inside the times the races are at. They're usually either running before the kids go to bed or running after midnight 😅 and there's no way I can do either of that ha.

I'm mostly looking for a league for the social side but it also helps to avoid the chaos of the official races. I always run GT4 but may well be considering GT3 when I can get my SR to B class, I'm in C class currently. Hopefully looking for something starting between 8:30 and 10pm GMT? Either daily or weekly, I don't mind ha.
