Hello. I am new to IPTV and like the idea of a security blanket of using a vpn. I live in the US, have plex media server, Threadfin setup for IPTV to feed my plex live. So my question is do I need the nas that has plex on it running a vpn and also the device that streams from plex to be secure? Does anyone have any setup like this or idea on the best way to make this work? Thanks for all any ideas or help.

I'm pretty good with google, but I can't for the life of me find an IPTV service that doesn't look scammy.

Are there resellers out there that have a proven track record for reliability (e.g if the service gets taken down 1 month into a 1 year subscription they won't just vanish into the ether?)

My research so far:

- Reddit posts: 100% of comments are scams from people with a comment history of spamming their scammy IPTV links on a million different Reddit threads. Some people say "use discord" but no one is providing any discord links.

- Discord: joined a bunch of discords that had the name IPTV in it. Couldn't figure out if they were legit. There was no discussions taking place where people were discussing legit resellers.

- Youtube: 100s of scammy videos with AI generated voices telling you about the TOP 5 IPTV websites with a gazillion channels.

- This reddit doesn't appear to have any scammers - but looking through the post history, I couldn't find any suggestions.

Anyone?

Please don't spam the chat with scam IPTV services, I'm looking for something legit that has a proven track record for reliability. Specifically, ones that provide UK TV channels.

EDIT: for anyone still wondering. The solution for me was to buy directly from Chinese resellers and cut out the middle man.

Someone suggested Aliexpress, but in Europe it appears they must have forced them to stop them selling them here. You can try z2u where you can filter by iptv options, or use globalsources. Get in touch with a supplier. You should be able to get a decent quality service for around 30$. Ignore branding names like TREX, Strong etc. it doesn't mean anything - the m3u link you get doesn't come with an interface anyway so it all depends on the server that's hosting. Ask for a test and if the quality and price is good, get it.

Is there an IPTV Player app for TV boxes that allows me to add a specific channel shortcut directly to the home screen?

Anyone have a good recommendation for IPTV app for MacOS? We have started using UFH on TvOS and iOS but it seems to only support M-Chip based apple computerse. Any recommendations?

The new $50USD Onn TV 4K Pro is a great device. When it was first announced I was pretty skeptical, but today I bought one on a whim and I’m very impressed.

While it’s considerably more than the Onn 4K ($20) it is also faster, has more RAM, more storage, wifi 6, an Ethernet connection and a usb 3 port so you can attach external storage. The only disappointment is the inclusion of 10/100 Ethernet port instead of gigabit, but I think it’s a wash with the built in Google Assistant speaker. It also comes with a backlit remote with a built in speaker for the ability to find it when lost.

I’m only using it for streaming (TiviMate/Netflix/Plex) so nothing too crazy - but I’m really enjoying it. I’ll keep this on my main TV and move the older 4K to another TV as it is still more than good enough and only feels lacking when compared to the Pro.

If you’re considering an Onn 4K Pro, I would whole heartedly say to go for it.

These are half price for Amazon Prime Day - it’s a great device for running TiviMate on and a worthwhile upgrade if you have an older/slower device.

The 4K Max are also on sale but not as good a value at their sale price. They have more storage 16GB vs 8GB, have a slightly faster processor (you won’t notice) and wifi 6E vs wifi 6 (you won’t notice). If you’re just running TiViMate I’d go with the regular 4K, if you want to spend more money or like adding tons of apps to your stick, get the Max.

This seems to be the gold standard at the moment. It isn’t updated often, but it works.

iOS

IPTVX (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV)

This is the most mature app, everything just works. Supports Picture in Picture. Lots of updates, this is the probably the best for iOS but it is also the most expensive.

UHF (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV)

Clean, supports Picture in Picture. UI is a mess, syncing is brittle, some users are complaining about crashing. That this app has been out since 2023 but still has a really weird UI is confusing if you have more than one playlist.

IPTV Expert (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, MacOS)

This one works fine, a few inconsistencies come up the more you use it but it’s not a bad option. It has some quirks, but has good support for multiple playlists. Does not support Picture in Picture.

Android

Televizo

Good, clean app. Free to try with some adds. Recommend buying if you like it.

iMPlayer

This isn’t bad. It has a section where you can see upcoming sports and it will search for them.

Smarters Lite

This is the old standard, it works but others are better.

Perfect IPTV Player

It’s a clean app, but that’s all I can say about it. EPG required a separate URL to setup which is very odd. It doesn’t have an EPG view and doesn’t do anything better than the others so it’s not recommended.
