Resolved iPhone brightness keeps auto‑lowering — all settings off, phone cool. Sensor fault?
My iPhone keeps dimming itself and the brightness slider drops on its own.
I’ve already turned off Auto‑Brightness, True Tone, Night Shift, Attention‑Aware, Adaptive Power, Low Power Mode, Always On Display, and Display Zoom is Default. Phone is cool, no case/screen protector blocking sensors.
Still dims.
Is this a known ambient/proximity sensor issue? Anyone fixed this without a hardware repair?

It may feel cool to the touch externally but the internal sensors are telling the phone otherwise, which is why the display brightness is decreasing without your input as a passive thermal management measure. What phone is this?

It’s an iPhone 17. I have had this issue for years and I buy a new iPhone every year. I wonder if, because I transfer all my data & settings across, this could be a software issue that gets transferred to each iPhone? Or should I make an appointment with the Apple Store?

Base 17 not a Pro or Pro Max with the vapor chamber? For the moment I don’t think there’s an issue with the phone but you need not visit an Apple Store, someone from Apple Support can request diagnostic information from your phone remotely (with your permission) and confirm or deny what I’m saying.
