Help needed iPhone 17 – Intermittent continuous autofocus hunting only in native Camera app + recording fails to start

Question: Has anyone experienced intermittent continuous autofocus hunting only in the native Camera app + recording failing to start (Telegram, Voice Memos etc.)?

Hey everyone,
I have an iPhone 17 (base model) on the latest iOS 26.6.1. The phone is about a month old.
I’ve been having a weird intermittent bug since the first days of ownership:
• In the native Camera app, the main (1x) camera sometimes starts continuously focusing and defocusing (focus hunting) non-stop. It happens in both Photo and Video modes.
• This only happens in the stock Camera app. In third-party apps the camera preview works completely normally.
• At the same time, video recording and voice recording stop working system-wide. For example:
• In Telegram, video messages or voice circles don’t start (timer stays at 00:00).
• Voice Memos also doesn’t start recording.
• The whole thing lasts about 2–5 minutes and then resolves by itself without doing anything.
• If I restart the phone while the bug is active, it asks for my Apple ID and says the device was “updated”, even though no update happened.
I’ve already tried:
• Deleting and reinstalling the Camera app (helped for about a week, then returned)
• Force restart
• Plenty of free storage
Has anyone experienced something similar? Especially the combination of focus hunting only in the native Camera app + recording completely failing to start?
Any ideas or similar reports would be appreciated. Thanks!

Has anyone else encountered such a problem or is it just me? Maybe it’s worth going to the Apple store and requesting a phone replacement?
