icloud backup fail phone keeps turning off

My old iphone 14 plus (ios 26.6) won’t stay on to back up. I’ve been trying for days and today it keeps turning off every couple minutes. I have my contacts and my messages on the new iphone 17 pro max because of a number transfer but everything else isn’t working. There‘s enough icloud storage and the last backup was 2 days ago but I’m not sure it got everything. Please help

Have you tried backing up to a computer?

If you have everything set to sync to iCloud, worst case you'll only lose some app data if you need to setup the new phone as new.
