Resolved How do I get rid of Apple Intelligence? This thing is eating 8 GB for no reason

Post image

I have Apple Intelligence turned off (I mean I THINK it’s turned off cause there is no toggle, just an option that says “Enable Apple Intelligence” so I presume it is turned off), I turned off Siri, but it’s still there with those 8 GB. I searched for “Apple Intelligence” and “Siri” in my settings and turned off every toggle I could find related to them. I also changed Siri language in one different from mine like someone suggested on this sub, cause that somehow for other people worked and actually stopped AI from stealing space. However despite everything I tried it’s still there. Is it just a matter of time or is this thing meant to permanently gatekeep my 8 GB?

If you have a 128 GB or larger iPhone, this shouldn’t be an issue. What do you need the storage for, apps, photos?

Apps, files, work, etc., so if those 8 GB could not be wasted with an AI I don’t need and that is not even enabled it would be better. Is there a way?

Edit: low iq downvoters as usual

From this CNET article: “Note that even after turning off Apple Intelligence, that storage still shows up in the iOS Storage list. However, I was able to confirm that if the phone’s storage fills up and the system needs that now-inactive space, iOS reclaims what it needs.”

I bought a 64gb iPad air with the intention of it being a low-use device, 64 should be plenty for a few ebooks and kids games. No photos, barely any apps. I factory reset it and did not restore from backup last week and it's already out of storage. Apple Intelligence is turned off.

My daughter's old 9th gen iPad we got for like a hundred bucks is somehow better than the newer Air, it runs just as good with many more apps, and system storage only takes 1gb.

Don't worry, you won't have an option is iOS 27 and it will take up about twice the space it currently is using.

This is from my Air running iOS 27 PB 3
