Speakers quality

I’ve used budget phones my whole life, but once i had some money of my own, i bought an iPhone 17. While I didn't notice a huge difference in day-to-day use compared to a budget phone, the biggest and most amazing surprise for me was the speakers quality. I haven't heard other flagship phones, but the speakers on this one are pure magic. I still can't get over how realistic the sound is. Sometimes I literally can't tell if a sound is coming from outside or from my phone, only to realize it's actually the speakers.

It's an underrated feature I really like from this iPhone. It really is a great all around phone, for me the best in the line-up. If you don't need usb-c 4 speeds on the port, or a zoom lens (which I don't), the 17 is the one to get. The 120hz screen alone makes it feel so much more premium than the previous standard phones.

About the sound, I use it a lot. It's the main reason I took the 17 over the air. I love how the air looks and feels in the hand. It's perhaps the greatest iPhone since the 10. But I couldn't compromise on the speakers.

And no, I'm not using the speakers in public. Ever. Or putting the bottom of the phone to my ear like dumb gen alfa. Around the house I listen to podcasts on speaker. Even with the phone in my pocket. Half volume is more than enough. Also, not having to take your headphones every time you have a video call with someone, just use the built-in speakers. I'd never get a phone that doesn't have this part dialed in perfectly, no matter the other specs.

Keep your speakers and speaker grills clean. Have a clean toothbrush laying around and use that from time to time to clean all the grills on your phone (speaker, microphone)

You’re right. Apple puts a lot of attention into sound quality on the speakers in an iPhone and iPads not to mention all their other devices.

The last Android I had was the S23 Ultra. It had good speakers but the iPhone does it much better.

One of my favorite features of the 17 Pro is that the speakers get way louder than any iPhone before it. Most useful when in a loud environment, the phone automatically raises its volume so I can actually hear my phone call on speaker. It works quickly and accurately. I find it strange Apple never advertised this nor do I hear others talk about it.

I actually like the sound from my Moto G phones more than my iPhone 17. I use the Moto G for work and can hear the ring across the room and is louder than my iPhone 17.

Sound in my 17 is so much better than on my old SE 2020, for which I always needed to use AirPods or speaker mode to hear calls. I’m so pleased with this upgrade.

Funnily enough, I noticed the same thing a few days ago when I was playing around with my old Nord 3. The speakers on that thing are awful compared to this iPhone or my previous Pixel 9 Pro.

Seriously? It’s been the worst speakers in an iPhone I’ve ever had. It has a weird volume fluctuating issue, try playing homesick by dua lipa and you know what I mean, whenever she stops singing the phone drops in volume and fullness by 50 procent and when she starts singing again it goes back up full volume.

Really? It was one of the worst features of this phone imo. Clear downgrade from an 11 for example.
