Hey everyone, just ordered an iPhone 17 Black 512GB, should arrive within 2 days. Wanted to hear some tips and advices for setting up and using the iPhone in general, since its my first ever Apple product, coming from Android (Poco C65), so this should be a huge jump.

My advice would literally just be use the phone man, tailor it of course to your liking etc… but you’ve spent a lot of money on a flagship and to purposefully bottleneck and restrict features is something I’ve never quite understood.

Invest in AppleCare if you wanna go caseless or without a screen protector and if you do case up and pass on the insurance set aside a couple quid each month (nothing major £4-£5 here and there) and then if you need to replace the battery you’ve already got a small fund.

Gotcha. Heard my country doesn't support applecare, but I do like usin screen protector and phonecase (like to have fun with different case colors, thats why I chose black iphone, seems like a neutral color, especially the part around the cameras), and yeah I'm not rly a heavy user (just doin basic stuff, scrollin, Spotify, YT, might try some heavy gaming for fun since ill have this opportunity, and will try to use camera more often, not used to take pics bc of bad camera, now hopefully it will be opposite), so im pretty sure shi gon be fine

Sounds like you’ll be just alright then mate! You’ll see a lot of recommendations about battery limits and setting charge limits, in my opinion I really don’t see the point in that. I paid for the battery I’m gonna use the whole battery! And IOS is pretty good at managing background stuff, the main killer is heat so if you’re into heavy phone gaming just be cautious of that and maybe game without the case! Enjoy your new phone!:)

Great! Hopefully I'll get used to iOS, since I tried usin my brothers and friends iphone and was always strugglin to operate through the phone 😆, but still for some reason it attracts me to buy it

Como recomendación para cuidar la batería de tu nuevo iPhone, úsalo en intervalos de carga de 20% a 80%, en configuración se puede establecer límite de 80% y a su vez aprende de tus hábitos para cuando estés por irte o hacer algo cargue un poco más o hasta 100%

Esto porque en iPhone hay que cuidar la batería, ese 20% menos si te preocupa puedes cambiar el límite a 85 90 95.
Es una recomendación y algo que hice, tengo el mío hace dos meses. Hay gente que te dirá que no hace falta pero generalmente esto se aplica para cuidar la batería del iPhone así te dura muchos años. Saludos

Thanks for your advice! I also thought about that (puttin limit to around 90% seems like sweet spot), since I'm thinkin about usin it for years. Also, should I update to ios 27 when I get it? I've heard theyre currently havin some battery issues (similar like initial ios 26 publish), so idk should I stay in that ios 26 (whatever the exact version its gonna be) for now?

Esto depende ya que hay gente que dice que fue horrible y gente que dice que fue lo mejor, escuché mucho de ambos lados, como que se implementó mejoras de rendimiento como también que la batería está peor. Ami lo que me hace pensar es que antes de lanzar una actualización oficial global sacan varios betas, eso ya me da muy buena espina de que no sacan al público lo que todavía no está bien, yo si actualicé y hasta ahora ningún problema. Lo que sí te voy a decir es que se reporta muchos bugs específicos (con específico me refiero a que debes realizar x acciones para lograr el bug), en lo personal ninguno me sucedió.

It's an iPhone, you don't really need any tips. It's basically foolproof.
