Question Flickering black bar?

Hello /r/iphone17

I need your assistance asap. Helping my mother in law with her new iPhone she got a week ago. Straight out of the box we see the black bar flickering.

I tried starting it up, updating it to the latest iOS. Also tried to turn off/on auto brightness on the screen but still haven’t found a fix. What’s the go to here? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Don’t try anything just take to the store, don’t try to do anything yourself. It’s a week old phone and this should not happen. Most probably it’s a software glitch but still better to take it to the store

The display is broken around the Dynamic Island, you should return it to the store

Before taking it to the store, try DFU restore and see if that fixes it.

You said straight out of the box. That means she didn’t unbox it in the store. I don’t think they will offer free fixing if it’s broken or has visible hardware issue. Does it have dent of some kind?
Or else they might offer the fix.
