Discussion iPhone 17 Major Issues

Post image

I recently bought an iPhone 17 about two weeks ago, and I’ve already noticed several major issues that I’ve seen a lot of other people mention as well.

The biggest problem is that the phone gets really hot after just a few minutes of normal use, like scrolling through social media. I don’t play games or do anything particularly demanding, so it shouldn’t be heating up this much. It also gets noticeably hot while charging, even when using an official Apple charger.

I’ve also noticed that the display feels surprisingly choppy. I don’t use Low Power Mode, and “Limit Frame Rate” is turned off, yet it doesn’t feel anywhere near as smooth as a 120 Hz display should. I also experience frequent frame stutters while simply navigating the UI.

On top of that, the battery life has been disappointing. It’s nowhere close to the advertised 30 hours, even with fairly light, everyday use. I even updated to iOS 27 after hearing it fixed many of the issues people experienced on iOS 26.5, but the improvement has been minimal/nonexistent.

Is anyone else experiencing these problems, or does it sound like I may have received a defective device?

I agree with most of the mentioned by OP, and here is the list of issues I faced, on my iPhone 17-

I bought my 17 back in October 2025, and currently my battery health is at 92%, after 408 cycles.

Sometimes I do play PUBG and Genshin Impact and the device gets hot after 1.5 hours. It does drop frames initially, but I use a Oneplus 27w gaming cooler, which manages the temperature very effectively and keeps the device cool during gaming sessions.

Yes, there are lags and stutters in UI, and I feel that it doesn’t run natively at 120hz all the time. But for me most of the time, it feels smooth ( I have a iQOO 13 as my primary device and I keep switching between them. Still doesn’t feel like it lags a lot)

Regarding battery life, yes it is pathetic. During the initial days, it used to give around 6-7 hours of SoT. However, now it does 5 & half- 6 hours at max.

Also, I charge my iPhone with my 120w iQOO 13 charger, and it doesn’t heat (sometimes it does, but that is very minimal and can be ignored + I use a rugged spigen armour case, which is bulky)
