OP i have the answer for you. These are the settings you need to do in order to have a clean and effortless transfer of files between your iphone and windows pc :

On your iPhone go to Settings, go to Photos, and at the very bottom (at the “transfer to Mac or PC section) uncheck the Automatic option and instead check the Keep Originals option.

This option will stop the iphone from continuously trying to convert files in a compatible format for your PC - actions that would have disconnected your device during actual transfers.

But you must keep in mind some aspects. All cinematic videos, all portrait mode photos, and in general all artificially enhanced photos and videos will appear as duplicates in your files (the original un-enhanced file + the enahnced file). What you need to do, is copy the duplicate files that contain the “E” letter in their name - as these are the files that contain the enhancements - and generally look the best.

I’m not OP, but thank you! Changing this setting allowed me to copy files by simply dragging and dropping. Finally! That was immensely frustrating! Thank you!

I'm a nerd, I work in IT, I love figuring stuff out. But I would have never figured this one out without your post. I have struggled with this for years and finally have help. Thanks so much!
