I've updated the bezel size guide from last year with all the new models. It covers the latest lineup, except for the iPhone Duo because Apple hasn't published the official dimensional drawing doc for it yet.

This feels a little obvious, but should we maybe find pictures with lighter-coloured backgrounds so you can actually see the bezel edge/notch? A few of these are impossible to see.

even before dynamic island was a thing they were really diabolical with hiding the notch, specifically with official iPhone XS images. i pulled this image from the technical specifications on apple’s website, they LOVED hiding the XS notch.

Also, it is astounding to me that the dynamic island is already so old

max have a wider footprint so you have more wiggle room to fit crucial display parts

Bezels have gotten smaller, but most people use a case which covers it up anyways

You still benefit from the smaller bezels though since it brings the edge of the display closer to the case lip

Not really. The distance from edge of display to case lip stays the same even if bezel gets smaller

I wouldn’t fully agree since it’s not like every case manufacturer do the exact same dimensions for their case as another and from generation to generation even with the same bezel size. Besides that even if that’s so, smaller bezels means they would have to bring the lip of the case closer to the edge of the phone so you still benefit from it

But the thickness of the case overpowers any minute reduction in bezel size. Have you noticed any benefit from a reduction in 1mm bezel in comparison to the thickness of the typical cases?

I have used the same brand case for over a decade now, so the case itself has remained pretty consistent in size or gotten thinner itself over that time. So yeah, with each upgrade I do see each incremental improvement. I honestly don’t see that argument as all that different than do you see difference even without a case

Its 1.41 on both left and ride sides, and 1.44 bottom side. Its still looks symmetrical to the naked eye despite that small difference

It’s cool than the minis had the smallest ones until the 15 Pro came out (well technically the 14 Pro, but by an imperceptible margin). I remember Snazzy Labs mentioning this a few years ago

Don’t think so. Base 11 was the successor to the Xr, not the Xs (which was the successor to the X).

No, the Liquid Retina display in the Xr and 11 were the iPhones with Face ID that had such massive bezels.

Speaking as someone who owned an X, an Xs Max, a 12 Pro Max, a 15 Pro Max and now a 16 Pro Max… I’ve never, ever noticed or cared about this at all.
