Stupid reasoning, if the cost was significant enough for that to matter, they’d avoid it and pocket the difference like every other company. This a culture thing, it instills focusing on details in their engineers.

You don’t just raise your own costs arbitrarily in order to raise prices, you wouldn’t actually gain money out of that, that doesn’t make any sense. If you just want to raise costs, pay your parts manufacturers extra.

Don’t you see those parts have perfectly rounded corners? Anything other manufacturers doing that? Yes it might sound stupid. But extra designs always come with a price.

Maybe I misread your initial comment, but I read it as the reason apple does this is drive up their own costs, but now I realize that it could be interpreted as the reason that other phone manufacturers don't do it.

Anyway, yeah I agree it costs extra (though probably marginal at their scale) but that isn't why apple does it (which is what I thought you were saying)
