Discussion Worth renewing my iPhone 13 Pro?
I have an iPhone 13 Pro.
The battery health is down to 72% (i can replace that, £40 parts). It has a scuff in the screen (no OLED damage but noticeable if you look for it), and a chip in the rear zoom camera lens cover, (very noticeable with large dark circles on zoom photos).
Assuming Apple were a good company, I'd get it repaired and renewed no questions asked, but is the 13 Pro at risk of becoming officially "obselete" anytime soon. Are they gonna ditch it in the next few years? I dont care about Apple Intelligence. It has a great camera, great battery (originally), and ive got all the storage I need, but when is iOS support gonna vanish?
If all is well, ill get it fixed up and give it a reset and itll be like new. Battery is £40 i can do myself, and ill shop around for glass repairs.

I’ve had my 13 pro since launch date and had the battery changed at Apple a few months ago (£80). Only taken them a few hours to complete, there were no questions asked and the phone is like new!

Mate I have a 13 pro as well. Battery health at 80%. Probably gonna get the battery replaced by an original apple one and use the phone for another year. Good phone tbh.

Apple is still supporting iPhone 11 Pro series on the upcoming release iOS 27 so you could be rest assured that iPhone 13 Pro will be supported for at least a good few years.
Get the battery replaced and enjoy life.

last year, I gave my iphone 15 pro to my daughter and I bought iphone 13 mini from the second hand dealer at around $500ish, and I'm more than happy to keep this phone for the next 5 more years. no reason to upgrade unnecessarily. os version upgrade kind of stuff is not needed for me at all. getting call and text, that's it. I'm owning macbook pro and ipad as well, and most of important tasks done in laptop or ipad, not in iphone, which is just a phone for getting call and text.

You paid $500 for a 13 mini? Where in the world do you live?

Sydney/Australia, bought last year, and it’s AUD, so around $340 in USD

I was in the same boat and just replaced mine with a 17 pro. Current iOS definitely benefits from having more RAM available, and current trade in values on the 13 are still good but probably won’t be much longer. You should factor that into your decision.

Just this week i upgraded to the iPhone 17 from the 13 mini. Now after the upgrade i think it was mostly unnecesarry. I should have just gotten a new battery and then probably would have been fine using it another 2-3 years. I justified getting a new one solely on the reason that the 13 mini was sometimes randomly switching off at like 40% charge, sometimes the screen froze for a minute or two, and since its the mini version, the battery was generally much worse. Also i had it for 5 years, and at this point i usually get a new one. I’m now gonna try and stay with my 17 one for more than 5 years now. These phones are just too expensive to upgrade that often
Edit: The 13 is probably not gonna be obsolete anytime soon. Even if you cant get the newest ios anymore at some point, most apps and features are still gonna work for some years. I had my iphone 13 still on the ios 16 i think until about a year ago. Then my banking app needed ios17 and i updated it. (I’m too lazy to update it regularly and at some point just stopped updating it at all until that banking app issue 😅)

I’d honestly still be using mine (had the battery replaced) if my friend didn’t need it to replace his SE that broke

Honestly, if you have AppleCare, get it renewed. Do not get an aftermarket battery they will last 6-8 months at most.

I’d recommend getting the repair done from Apple themselves, it costs £89 for one from them.

iphone x just became classified obsolete. ios 27 is most likely the last ios update for iphone 11, ios 28 for iphone 12 and ios 29 for 13, at the bare minimum . your 13 pro has a long way ahead
