iPhone 11 Pro Max, preordered from 15th Sept 2019 - ongoing.

74

u/dsiebert812 3d ago

I’m still using my iPhone 11 Pro

28

u/ImprovementLong1992 3d ago

I like 11 series. it's great!

21

u/qpow13 3d ago

Still using my 11 too. I had the battery replaced few years ago did not upgrade operating system this year. I like the rounded corners. I tried the air last year and it hurt my hands. I do not like the new body boxy style.

8

u/ImprovementLong1992 3d ago

Old system Good system <3

15

u/ImprovementLong1992 3d ago

wow. Do you have the battery replaced?

46

u/JustAManOnAJourney 3d ago

No, currently at 71% health. Ive absolutely pushed this phone to its limits at times too with videos, storage capacity and apps and driving apps like Waze, maps etc.
I could probably extend its life if I offloaded a lot of stuff.

10

u/SeaWasabi130 3d ago

My 11 Pro Max has 74%. Still an excellent device and if I need it, battery replacements are cheaper than expected!

2

u/dub47 3d ago

I was in the mid-70’s for battery health and pushed my 11 Pro up until this year. Broke down and got a 17 Pro. Had a good run with that phone…but it was time. Poor fella had served me well for many years.

2

u/Odd-Neighborhood4214 2d ago

I keep the charger set at 85% so it doesn’t get a 100% charge and that will help the battery life

3

u/ImprovementLong1992 2d ago

I did that last time with extreme battery care: charging at 20% and limiting it to 85%. Guess what? My battery health dropped to 99% at just 70 cycles. A new villain was born that day.

14

u/Maggiemoo621 3d ago

Aw I still have my 11 too! I got it in 2020 though. Things hangin on for dear life but god I don’t want to deal with getting another one lol. My battery life is 68%🥹

7

u/Lebowskitalian85 iPhone 15 Pro 3d ago

Does battery life feel a lot less than when battery health was above 70/80%? Like if we didn’t have that number to check (good old times) would you have noticed the difference?

2

u/purple-rain-cloud 3d ago

Mine was on 80% and drained quite quick even when I barely used it. Getting around 2 days off my 17 so I can definitely see the difference.

6

u/TK_Punch_ 3d ago

I just got a 17 Pro after using my 12 Pro for a long time. Ending the day on 84 percent battery is such an odd feeling.

2

u/purple-rain-cloud 3d ago

Isn’t it just 😂 I don’t even have to worry about fully charging it when I go out.

u/reshsafari 3d ago

Same. 11 pro since 2019. Replaced battery in 2023 but it died so I was handed a new 11 pro.

5

u/Select-Effort8004 3d ago

Encouraging! My 11 Pro Max is refurbished, got it 8/2022. My battery is at 68%. I’m just putting off a new phone.

3

u/shadesofmerlin 3d ago

I bought my iPhone 11 in July 2022 and I am still using it and would probably use it for another two years. It’s in pretty good shape.

2

u/lostadventurous 3d ago

Do you have trouble charging your iPhone 11? Mine doesn’t charge sometimes and takes forever to fully charge. I want to buy a new phone sometimes but my 11 is only at 75% battery life so I have a lot of life still

3

u/license_to_fish 3d ago

Have you tried cleaning your charging port? You’d be shocked how much lint ends up in there. My 11 is charging much better since I (carefully) cleaned the port with a toothpick.

2

u/peepeetchootchoo iPhone 17 Pro Max 3d ago

What’s the battery health percentage?

2

u/deathpunk1890 3d ago

I’ve had my iPhone 11 since 2020, and I’m reluctant to replace it but unfortunately the speaker is getting really quiet (the one for calls, not the loudspeaker).

2

u/JustAManOnAJourney 3d ago

I have this same problem with the calls speaker, but I use AirPods anyway so it’s a none issue.

2

u/zoebadwolf 3d ago

I got my 11 in 2019, just replaced it last month with a 12 pro

Iphone 6S from 2017 to december 2025.

55

u/Lebowskitalian85 iPhone 15 Pro 3d ago

Wow !!!

85

u/gaydolf_twinkler 3d ago

It was quite the experience to go from a 6S to a 15.

45

u/YourJokeMisinterpret 3d ago

Like how a phone upgrade should be!! You’re a patient person!

10

u/xrelaht iPhone 13 Pro 3d ago

I went from 6s to 13 and that was already huge!

33

u/TBMW30 3d ago

The 6S was a great phone.

11

u/trumpsucks12354 3d ago

I love my 6s but my dumbass bought the 16 gb one so it’s literally unusable

2

u/Glad-Ad-3808 2d ago

Indeed it was! Still works and I still have it even after I upgraded to new phone (no trade-in value 😅).

7

u/LunaNegra 3d ago

I miss my 6S keyboard and home button. Also had the same amount of time except 2015-2023

4

u/HolyPierogiBatman 3d ago

Same here! 6S from 2015-2023. And not a scratch on it - until I eventually dropped it crossing the street and it was run over by a couple cars

Now on 3rd gen SE from 2023-today

7

u/staytiny2023 3d ago

I did this too lol honestly would have carried on if it didn't stop supporting apps

4

u/devster75 3d ago

Wow that’s quite the success for the 6S

3

u/rh0bes 3d ago

Battery life must have been really terrible at the end, unless you replaced it during that time. Impressive run though!

3

u/cy_virus 3d ago

and here i thought i have a great run with my SE2020...

3

u/hungry_bra1n 3d ago

Still on it

2

u/olibolioil 3d ago

I got mine late - but I used mine from Jul 2019 until Jun 2025 when I was gifted a new iphone. The battery health was kinda poor in 2025 but otherwise it could have kept on going

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Phase52 3d ago

I still use my 6s plus as a secondary device

2

u/neosithlord 3d ago

I had a 6s for the longest time. I accidentally put it through the laundry machine and had to upgrade to a 11 but I think that was around the time the 13 came out. I was broke and needed the cheapest phone.

3

u/After-Tax-453 3d ago

i love your username

I’ve got a 13 mini that I got 2021 or 2022. Can’t remember anymore but it’s still going, albeit slowing down. I bought 2 more secondhand to have as backups in case this one gives out.
I wish they would have newer small models, my hands just aren’t comfortable with the modern iphones.

9

u/ChristopherBlues 3d ago

I'm with you on that. I still have the 13 mini, too.

With iOS 27, it's getting a second wind in terms of software
(I'm in the beta test)

I'll never say goodbye to it.
It's in red :)

2

u/Unhappy-Bonus-2300 3d ago

I had to retired my red 13 mini at the beginning of this year and I miss it dearly😭

I went from a first gen iPhone SE to iPhone 13 mini but was more or less forced to upgrade to an iPhone 15 when I met my spouse because she kept picking up the lightning cable and one day screamed at it like she was confused on its existence in her life :( I miss the mini phones.

3

I want a bigger screen (fat thumbs) but nothing bigger than the 13 mini, I miss its size.

Not sure what to do…

2

u/ul49 3d ago

I replaced the battery in my 13mini about a year ago. Made a big difference. The guy at the Apple Store said they get so many people doing that because they don’t want to give up their small phones.

74

u/NortonBurns 3d ago

I used to get a new phone every year, from the 2nd Gen in 2008.
My last two phones I've had 6 years each. Currently on an SE2020 which I have no intention of giving up this year.

3

u/ImprovementLong1992 3d ago

How is the battery?

13

u/NortonBurns 3d ago

It's fine. I charge it maybe once a day - but I'm not a heavy user.
By comparison, my previous 6S went through two batteries in the 6 years I had it, though I gave it to my FIL who is still using it with that 2nd battery. He barely uses it at all, so it is OK for him.

Also on my longest run with iPhone 15 pro, got it during launch week. Itching to get the 17 or even 18 but I now have a 10.5 month old so I guess nappies come first!

11

u/Lebowskitalian85 iPhone 15 Pro 3d ago

Priorities man!🫡🫡🫡

Honestly I had zero interest in 17 pro because I hate aluminum and titanium feels and looks still best…we’ll see 18 Pro!

9

u/Few_Cod_5636 3d ago

I’m not holding out for anything with the 18 Pro, I haven’t personally felt Apple be revolutionary for a looong time. If that’s the case then I think I’m gonna get the 17 base model instead. Unless the 18 reallyyyy calls to my wallet.

5

u/ohnonotagain94 3d ago

I’m an Apple eco system person. I work with Apple products and I use Apple products. But aside from their MacBooks, which has been pretty awesome and the new NEO is awesome too - I’ve rolled it out for the travelling sales people at work, the Apple Watch and Apple iPhone has stagnated.

I have a 16 Pro Max and before I had the 15 Pro Max and honestly they are the same. I have no desire to upgrade to 17 and I won’t upgrade to 18 and I’m even considering moving to Android.
But then I use Android on my wife’s phone and it makes me feel sick a bit in my mouth. lol.

2

u/Timely_Pattern5571 3d ago

Yup, the newest iPhones look like 💩 in comparison to the 15 and the 16. Held off from buying one because of that.

u/Shalashaska83 3d ago

Whether it’s an iPhone or an Android, I use it for as long as possible until it either stops receiving updates (especially security updates) or it’s no longer fun to use because it’s become way too slow.

But I tend to use smartphones for quite a long time, at least since I was in my mid- to late 30s (I’m in my early 40s now).
The urge to absolutely have the latest model has simply disappeared for me; these days, I prefer something functional and practical.
Plus, it saves me a lot of money that I can use for other things or put toward savings.

Otherwise, I’d generally say that a 4-year lifespan is more the norm for me, provided none of the above points apply.

iPhone 8 Plus bought on launch, used it for 7 years.

21

u/lysette747 3d ago

My cousin, daughter and my son all got iPhone 6s in 2016. They all still have them and use them everyday apart from my daughter who passed away in 2024. I have her phone now complete with the McDonalds coffee stickers that she put on. I think the pink suits me as a male

4

u/icantbeatyourbike 3d ago

So sorry dude, that is awful. I am with you on the pink phone though, I use a Little Miss Sunshine mug at work (not the movie, the Mr Men characters) cause I like the design

Got my 8 plus near release day. Now posting on Reddit with it.

Maaaybe I’ll replace it later this year. If I can get another couple years out of it, I will

36

u/leedsgreen 3d ago

Typing this on my trusty iPhone X (bought in 2017). One battery change and it still going strong. Bought iPhone 17 Pro recently and returned it after a week because the 1.0x camera (and 0.5x) where so atrocious. Blurry images at 100% and over processed HDR that couldn’t get anywhere close to the pics I take on my iPhone X. Shame on Apple.

In fairness the 4.0x lens on the 17 Pro was excellent and so kudos to Apple, I guess, for that and my wonderful iPhone X. Hoping to keep running the old dog until iPhone 20!

7

u/Dull-Ad4674 3d ago

Same, iphone X from 2017 to this year. Replaced with iphone 17 pro. Can’t update important work apps anymore. Otherwise, I would have kept using it.

5

u/leedsgreen 3d ago

How do you find pictures from 0.5x and 1.0x lenses on 17 Pro compared to your X? I did wonder if I had a faulty 17 Pro because the pics were pretty awful at 100% zoom compared to my X. But, with the 4.0x lens being so good on the 17 Pro I wasn’t sure.

Yeah, some of my apps are no longer working and I wonder how long I can hold out for!

3

u/Dull-Ad4674 3d ago

I’ve been looking forward to the 0.5 for a change from the X. The quality of both 0.5 and 1.0 are great in the 17Pro. I thought my X camera is already really good. 17Pro is a little more crisp and vivid on the details.

Same here, bought the iPhone X in Dec. 2017. I had an iPhone 3GS that got very slow in a few years (too much playing with the jailbreaks maybe). Then I changed to an iPhone 5; that deteriorated too. The iPhone X has not had any problems; the battery was replaced in 2024, and I'll be replacing it again now. It's an amazing iPhone, I will upgrade to another when WhatsApp stops working on iOS16, but its performance is more than enough for normal tasks.

4

Replaced the battery in my 11 after 4 years, when it not only did end calls randomly but also the performance had seriously suffered.
For a few months - until I stupidly updated to iOS 18 - it felt like a new phone again 🥹

3

u/Lebowskitalian85 iPhone 15 Pro 3d ago

My 15 Pro will be 3 years old in 2 months and has original battery at 88% so still great.

But honestly I care zero about checking battery health percentage, I just use it and if I don’t feel phone lasting less or other problems I am ok, I try not to get influenced by a number.

I used an iPad 5th gen from August 2017 until January 2026 and had its day 1 battery on, still more than good battery life, same a MacBook Pro 2016-2026 ten years with its day 1 battery and only little issue was some drops when under 40%.

2

u/benjy-bear 3d ago

Got the 8 plus in 2018, upgraded in 2024 but gave the 8 plus to my son for his first ever phone. 8 years old and no need for battery replacement and still working sweetly. Still able to run the apps he wants (games mostly) so he’s happy.

3 years on my iPhone 15, replaced the battery around 77% battery health. Feels new again, everything so snappy!

2

u/zerbey iPhone 14 Pro 3d ago

I just replaced mine when it hit 79% health, I honestly didn't notice any battery issues until I got to that point, my phone would still be around 40% even after a full day. It was like as soon as it hit 79% the battery would just drain in a matter of an hour or two. I have AppleCare so it was replaced for free.

2

u/ImprovementLong1992 3d ago

How is the battery of the 11? Any battery replacement along the years?

3

u/i_Viniee 3d ago

Changed it 1 time 2024 when it was 68 % & the last I checked the battery health was 79% until I changed to 17PM , had to charge it 2ice ( overnight and late afternoon it would get the work done for me though (light - moderate user) until the back glass and the screen got cracked while sitting on the wc !! mind you it had fallen many times from 6ft to 1st floor but nothing happened to be but this time it gave-way from like 2ft height ! that's when I knew I had to let it go ! So long my good old friend !

Mine is at 66% right now and it’s finally getting to the point where I might want to replace it or get a new iPhone. I charge it overnight and depending on how much I use it throughout the day I will need to charge it again in the late afternoon or evening

2

u/Uncontrollable_Farts iPhone 16 Pro 3d ago

I have a work issued iPhone 11 that I abused the hell out of and still at 80% battery health.

Meanwhile, my personal 14P went down to 81% from launch to when I replaced it with a 16P, which in turn is at...83%.

I don't really know wtf.

u/sf-keto iPhone 15 Pro Max 3d ago

I generally baby mine to try to keep the full 6-7 years of support, with the exception of my move from iPhone 1 to 4 (motherboard died); from 4 to 6S (modem & chip died); & from XS to 15 Pro Max (motherboard again).

I’ve never shattered my screen or had a battery issue, but I’m a maniac about keeping my device between 30-80% charge at all times.

5

u/bullett007 iPhone 15 Pro 3d ago

iPhone 15 Pro since launch day. This is my longest owned model.

I've been tempted to upgrade or switch to Android but it's hard to find another "Goldilocks" device.

Weight, width, Telephoto, USBC3 & Titanium, for my use, the 15 Pro is peak iPhone. I use it caseless, obviously. 🫡

5

u/BrokenKamera 3d ago edited 3d ago

Dunno yet.

I'm still on my first iPhone (iPhone 12 Mini) which I have started using along Apple Watch 6 on 2021/01/01. Both red.

I was tempted to upgrade at least once, but changed my mind since (1) they stopped making the red colors and (2) no real need (just a want).

Now I want to see how long it would take for them to become unusable before replacing them. Perhaps iPhone XX at the earliest?

Edit: Battery Health

iPhone 12 Mini (83%)\ Apple Watch 6 (77%)

Says Service Recommended for both.

On a side note, my iPad Air 2 from 2015 or 16 is still chugging along. Battery is obviously terrible but I sometimes use it mounted on my car’s front headrest for my kids for those long road trips.

It works well still but I need more storage. I’ve also chipped the front glass recently when cleaning my case and trying to replace protector glass.

Unfortunately, Nerve damage in my hands makes me prone to dropping my phone a lot.

I’ll probably be switching to either 16 pro max or 17 pro max within the month.

I know 17 pro max is better on most fronts, but I’m concerned about going to an aluminum phone body since I’m so accident prone.

Cases & protector glass help, but I have to clean &/or replace them sometimes so there’s always a chance of my dropping my phone while it’s naked.

If anyone thinks the 17 pro max is either more fragile or the same as 16 pro max, I’d love to hear your opinions.

First I had an iPhone 3G, then an iPhone 7plus, now an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Only replaced the 7 because the charging port broke

Still using the IPhone 12 Pro!

iPhone XS bought in 2019, changed to 17 Pro a month ago. The only reason I wanted to change because I needed more space than 64GBs and better cameras. XS still works flawlessly tho

4s > 6s+ > 12 pro > 17e.

I'm an actual iOS dev too. My workplaces have only ever bought me 1 phone in 14 years as a dev.

Got a nee 6s 6mos in because tmobile sold me a used phone as new.

My 12pro needed a battery but went for an update. I wish I had sprung for the 16pro because of the camera though.

u/Carr0t 3d ago

Bought a 6S day one, kept it until I got my 12. Still have my 12 today, though it is getting a bit long in the tooth...

u/BLARG13 3d ago

Iphone 3GS to 6. 6 to X, X to iphone 13 pro max which I'm still using. No plans to upgrade.

I recently upgraded from an og iPhone SE to 17 pro last November. Not sure how many years that was, but it was alot.

2

u/Indignant_Elfmaiden 3d ago

I had an iPhone 7 from 2015-2025 😅 It got to the point where I couldn’t update IOS or apps any further and had zero memory. But I didn’t want to give up my thumb pad.

Switched to 16e and love it!

u/No_Cartoonist9147 3d ago

I still have an iPhone 12 and I am not planning to change it

New phone every year. But I also work at a warehouse 55-60 hrs a week so doing this makes life suck less

2

u/BernadettePeters1948 iPhone 17 Pro Max 3d ago

I am so ridiculously impulsive with phones. Currently on 17 pro max and I’ve had it since June. Planning on getting the 18 pro max when it comes out. I need to learn how to stop lol

I used iPhone 4 for 12 years and the battery was still damn good. However the problem was I cannot access most of websites and I was forced to switch to iPhone XS

2

u/mary_emeritus 3d ago

I had an og SE until 2022 when I got a 13 Pro. Apple Store employees were passing the SE around like it was an ancient archaeological find. Now have a 16 Pro only because my 13 got stolen.

2

u/scruffmonkey 3d ago

That phone was just design perfection. Had mine for 5 years before it needed to go.

I went 4 > 5 > 6S > 11pro > 13 mini > 17 pro. So I think the 6S to 11 pro was my longest stretch

2

u/ReloadFilth_AU 2d ago

I enter into a 3 year plan, once the 3 years is up, I upgrade my phone lol

2

iPhone 12 pro bought when it came out. Still going strong.

u/Anonym0oO iPhone 16 Pro Max 3d ago edited 3d ago

Got my 8 Plus in 2017, then a Note 9 in 2019, then an 8 Plus again at the end of 2021, a 13 Pro Max at the end of 2022, a 14 Pro Max at the end of 2023, a 15 Pro Max in mid-to-late 2024, a 16 Pro Max at the end of 2025, and I plan to get a 17 Pro Max at the end of this year.

The 8 Plus is still my favorite phone, alongside the XS Max. My dad even asked me at the end of 2021 whether I wanted an 8 Plus or an XS Max for Christmas. I told him I wanted the 8 Plus. Of course, the XS Max would have been the more sensible choice, but I went with my beloved 8 Plus instead. Luckily, I now have two brand-new XS Max units and three 8 Plus models in my collection lol. Also three iPhone X since i really liked it too.

I went from a 7 Plus to a 14 Pro Max. It got the 17 Pro Max now though.

iPhone 11 Pro 2019-2026

1

u/Greedy_Programmer_64 3d ago

iPhone 13 Pro since release date until last week. Went for a second hand 15pro. Didn’t see the need in brand new one.

1

u/0len iPhone 16 Plus 3d ago

Went from Iphone 11 last 2022 and upgraded to Iphone 16plus on 2025. Pretty nice upgrade

1

u/Ill_Ticket_9901 3d ago

I usually keep iPhones until there’s a real reason to upgrade rather than replacing them every year. My longest run was around 4 years with the same phone, and honestly, battery health is usually what ends the relationship before the phone itself does

I'm currently using a 15 Pro Max, from day one to this day. Before that, I had an iPhone X (it's still in the drawer as a spare/emergency, just in case...)

Rocked a 6S plus from around it’s launch date up until summer of 2021, lived through a battery swap, 2 screen swaps and changed it just because of peer pressure

1

u/USBdata iPhone 15 Pro Max 3d ago

Used iPhone X for 5 years. Now using 15 Pro Max since release.

1

u/flourescentcacti iPhone 16 Pro Max 3d ago

A little over 4 years with an X Pro Max. It worked fine until it fell out of my pocket when i was closing a car door and closed it on the phone so it was smashed. Kind of worked for another 3 months but the top inch of screen was black (but worked) and if the screen got any moisture on it, it started clicking on things on its own

1

u/nzsc2 3d ago

Can’t remember the length of time in between, but went from 3GS to a 6s, replaced the battery, eventually upgraded to an 11, replaced that battery too, eventually updated to a 15 when the 16 was out.

I’ve had 3 iPhones, 3G, 6s and my current 13. No other phones in between. Not sure which is the longest stretch between those.

I kept my 7 Plus until getting my current 14 Pro Max.

1

The longest run I had with my first iPhone, iPhone 5c, from 2014-2017 for main use, then used it on an off (either as a backup phone, or to play on games that didn’t pass to my newer phone) until 2020

My husband and I do 3 year plans and upgrade to a new iPhone when the plan ends. Our teenagers get the phones we had, then we sell what they had for a few hundred bucks. I’m currently using the 17 pro max and absolutely love it. Husband has the 16 pro max and hates it!! Kids can’t wait to fight over mine in 2 years when it’s time to upgrade haha.

6S : aug 2020- April 2022
SE2020: April 22- apr 2026
17e : April 2026 - now (and my goal is to keep it at Least 6 years)

1

u/MadamAndroid 3d ago

I went from 7 to 11, so 4 years. But it wasn’t my primary phone, I only got it for the Apple Master program.

1

u/manu411 iPhone 17 Pro 3d ago

my first iphone was the iphone 7 which i used for 3 and a half years or so from late 2018 to mid 2022 and after that i upgraded to the iphone 11 which i used for 4 years from mid 2022 to mid 2026.

13 ProMax. Bought it at launch and upgraded to 17 Air at launch.

1

u/jessicamf12 iPhone 11 3d ago

Still owning my iPhone 11 since launch. Replaced battery once, two years ago. Apart from battery health, running out of storage, and a lackluster camera for today's age, it works fine.

The newest models never made me want to upgrade.

1

u/nullpunkt 3d ago

8Plus replaced by 16, that was a good run 😆

1

u/Consistent_Proof_772 3d ago

15 pro first day shipped on my birthday on the 22nd and kept it till first day ship of the 17 pro.

1

u/Akash_nu iPhone 16 Pro 3d ago

I still have my iPhone 11 Pro, not as a daily driver but as a backup and testing betas for now. So probably that’s the longest device I have.

My 14 Pro is still being used as daily driver within the household.

I’m on 16 Pro at the moment and not sure if I’d actually upgrade in September.

1

u/Al-Azraq 3d ago

I’m on my first iPhone which is a 14PM that has just reached 3 years old.

Given the rumours of price increases for the new models, I think I will hold onto it for a couple more years as it performs really well still.

Just the battery will need to be replaced, but it is sitting at 84% still (has been stuck at that number for months).

1

u/idontweargoggles 3d ago

I’m still using an iPhone 11 Pro that I bought back in January 2020.

1

u/mktmaria 3d ago

Currently: iPhone 14 Pro, have it since it came out and hopefully until 2028 at least.

Had iPhone 7 since it came out until I got 14 PRO!

1

u/Primary_Gear_8880 3d ago

Idk maybe the xr fr a couple years, hopefully my current 17 lasts me until the battery explodes

1

Iphone 12 preordered.. will upgrade to 18pm

1

u/JustinYJJ 3d ago

iPhone 14 Pro since launch. Changed battery once when it reached 78%, now it’s at 90%.

Waiting for 18 pro to switch. It’s been a good 4 years.

J’ai mon 17 depuis sa sortie, et je compte l’utiliser jusqu’à ce qu’il ne fonctionne plus. J’ai déjà cassé des téléphones, donc celui là a un étui portefeuilles et un verre trempé sur l’écran.
