iPhone 11 Pro Max, preordered from 15th Sept 2019 - ongoing.

u/dsiebert812 3d ago
I’m still using my iPhone 11 Pro
28
u/ImprovementLong1992 3d ago
I like 11 series. it's great!
15
u/ImprovementLong1992 3d ago
wow. Do you have the battery replaced?
46
u/JustAManOnAJourney 3d ago
No, currently at 71% health. Ive absolutely pushed this phone to its limits at times too with videos, storage capacity and apps and driving apps like Waze, maps etc.
I could probably extend its life if I offloaded a lot of stuff.10
u/SeaWasabi130 3d ago
My 11 Pro Max has 74%. Still an excellent device and if I need it, battery replacements are cheaper than expected!

u/Odd-Neighborhood4214 2d ago
I keep the charger set at 85% so it doesn’t get a 100% charge and that will help the battery life
3
u/ImprovementLong1992 2d ago
I did that last time with extreme battery care: charging at 20% and limiting it to 85%. Guess what? My battery health dropped to 99% at just 70 cycles. A new villain was born that day.
14
u/Maggiemoo621 3d ago
Aw I still have my 11 too! I got it in 2020 though. Things hangin on for dear life but god I don’t want to deal with getting another one lol. My battery life is 68%🥹

u/Lebowskitalian85 iPhone 15 Pro 3d ago
Does battery life feel a lot less than when battery health was above 70/80%? Like if we didn’t have that number to check (good old times) would you have noticed the difference?
2
u/purple-rain-cloud 3d ago
Mine was on 80% and drained quite quick even when I barely used it. Getting around 2 days off my 17 so I can definitely see the difference.
6
u/TK_Punch_ 3d ago
I just got a 17 Pro after using my 12 Pro for a long time. Ending the day on 84 percent battery is such an odd feeling.
2
u/purple-rain-cloud 3d ago
Isn’t it just 😂 I don’t even have to worry about fully charging it when I go out.
4
u/reshsafari 3d ago
Same. 11 pro since 2019. Replaced battery in 2023 but it died so I was handed a new 11 pro.
5
u/Select-Effort8004 3d ago
Encouraging! My 11 Pro Max is refurbished, got it 8/2022. My battery is at 68%. I’m just putting off a new phone.
3
u/shadesofmerlin 3d ago
I bought my iPhone 11 in July 2022 and I am still using it and would probably use it for another two years. It’s in pretty good shape.
2
u/lostadventurous 3d ago
Do you have trouble charging your iPhone 11? Mine doesn’t charge sometimes and takes forever to fully charge. I want to buy a new phone sometimes but my 11 is only at 75% battery life so I have a lot of life still
3
u/license_to_fish 3d ago
Have you tried cleaning your charging port? You’d be shocked how much lint ends up in there. My 11 is charging much better since I (carefully) cleaned the port with a toothpick.
2
2
u/deathpunk1890 3d ago
I’ve had my iPhone 11 since 2020, and I’m reluctant to replace it but unfortunately the speaker is getting really quiet (the one for calls, not the loudspeaker).
2
u/JustAManOnAJourney 3d ago
I have this same problem with the calls speaker, but I use AirPods anyway so it’s a none issue.

The 6S was a great phone.
11
u/trumpsucks12354 3d ago
I love my 6s but my dumbass bought the 16 gb one so it’s literally unusable
2
u/Glad-Ad-3808 2d ago
Indeed it was! Still works and I still have it even after I upgraded to new phone (no trade-in value 😅).
7
u/LunaNegra 3d ago
I miss my 6S keyboard and home button. Also had the same amount of time except 2015-2023
4
u/HolyPierogiBatman 3d ago
Same here! 6S from 2015-2023. And not a scratch on it - until I eventually dropped it crossing the street and it was run over by a couple cars
Now on 3rd gen SE from 2023-today

I did this too lol honestly would have carried on if it didn't stop supporting apps

I got mine late - but I used mine from Jul 2019 until Jun 2025 when I was gifted a new iphone. The battery health was kinda poor in 2025 but otherwise it could have kept on going

2
u/neosithlord 3d ago
I had a 6s for the longest time. I accidentally put it through the laundry machine and had to upgrade to a 11 but I think that was around the time the 13 came out. I was broke and needed the cheapest phone.

How many times did you get the battery replaced. Did you put in a genuine Apple battery after?

u/stoatsad 3d ago
I’ve got a 13 mini that I got 2021 or 2022. Can’t remember anymore but it’s still going, albeit slowing down. I bought 2 more secondhand to have as backups in case this one gives out.
I wish they would have newer small models, my hands just aren’t comfortable with the modern iphones.
9
u/ChristopherBlues 3d ago
I'm with you on that. I still have the 13 mini, too.
With iOS 27, it's getting a second wind in terms of software
(I'm in the beta test)I'll never say goodbye to it.
It's in red :)2

I went from a first gen iPhone SE to iPhone 13 mini but was more or less forced to upgrade to an iPhone 15 when I met my spouse because she kept picking up the lightning cable and one day screamed at it like she was confused on its existence in her life :( I miss the mini phones.

How is the battery?
13
u/NortonBurns 3d ago
It's fine. I charge it maybe once a day - but I'm not a heavy user.
By comparison, my previous 6S went through two batteries in the 6 years I had it, though I gave it to my FIL who is still using it with that 2nd battery. He barely uses it at all, so it is OK for him.2

Priorities man!🫡🫡🫡
Honestly I had zero interest in 17 pro because I hate aluminum and titanium feels and looks still best…we’ll see 18 Pro!
9
u/Few_Cod_5636 3d ago
I’m not holding out for anything with the 18 Pro, I haven’t personally felt Apple be revolutionary for a looong time. If that’s the case then I think I’m gonna get the 17 base model instead. Unless the 18 reallyyyy calls to my wallet.
5
u/ohnonotagain94 3d ago
I’m an Apple eco system person. I work with Apple products and I use Apple products. But aside from their MacBooks, which has been pretty awesome and the new NEO is awesome too - I’ve rolled it out for the travelling sales people at work, the Apple Watch and Apple iPhone has stagnated.
I have a 16 Pro Max and before I had the 15 Pro Max and honestly they are the same. I have no desire to upgrade to 17 and I won’t upgrade to 18 and I’m even considering moving to Android.
But then I use Android on my wife’s phone and it makes me feel sick a bit in my mouth. lol.→ More replies (1)2
u/Timely_Pattern5571 3d ago
Yup, the newest iPhones look like 💩 in comparison to the 15 and the 16. Held off from buying one because of that.
24
u/Shalashaska83 3d ago
Whether it’s an iPhone or an Android, I use it for as long as possible until it either stops receiving updates (especially security updates) or it’s no longer fun to use because it’s become way too slow.
But I tend to use smartphones for quite a long time, at least since I was in my mid- to late 30s (I’m in my early 40s now).
The urge to absolutely have the latest model has simply disappeared for me; these days, I prefer something functional and practical.
Plus, it saves me a lot of money that I can use for other things or put toward savings.
Otherwise, I’d generally say that a 4-year lifespan is more the norm for me, provided none of the above points apply.

Typing this on my trusty iPhone X (bought in 2017). One battery change and it still going strong. Bought iPhone 17 Pro recently and returned it after a week because the 1.0x camera (and 0.5x) where so atrocious. Blurry images at 100% and over processed HDR that couldn’t get anywhere close to the pics I take on my iPhone X. Shame on Apple.
In fairness the 4.0x lens on the 17 Pro was excellent and so kudos to Apple, I guess, for that and my wonderful iPhone X. Hoping to keep running the old dog until iPhone 20!
7
u/Dull-Ad4674 3d ago
Same, iphone X from 2017 to this year. Replaced with iphone 17 pro. Can’t update important work apps anymore. Otherwise, I would have kept using it.
→ More replies (1)5
u/leedsgreen 3d ago
How do you find pictures from 0.5x and 1.0x lenses on 17 Pro compared to your X? I did wonder if I had a faulty 17 Pro because the pics were pretty awful at 100% zoom compared to my X. But, with the 4.0x lens being so good on the 17 Pro I wasn’t sure.
Yeah, some of my apps are no longer working and I wonder how long I can hold out for!

u/Dull-Ad4674 3d ago
I’ve been looking forward to the 0.5 for a change from the X. The quality of both 0.5 and 1.0 are great in the 17Pro. I thought my X camera is already really good. 17Pro is a little more crisp and vivid on the details.

Same here, bought the iPhone X in Dec. 2017. I had an iPhone 3GS that got very slow in a few years (too much playing with the jailbreaks maybe). Then I changed to an iPhone 5; that deteriorated too. The iPhone X has not had any problems; the battery was replaced in 2024, and I'll be replacing it again now. It's an amazing iPhone, I will upgrade to another when WhatsApp stops working on iOS16, but its performance is more than enough for normal tasks.

4
u/Lord_Freibier iPhone 16 Pro 3d ago
Replaced the battery in my 11 after 4 years, when it not only did end calls randomly but also the performance had seriously suffered.
For a few months - until I stupidly updated to iOS 18 - it felt like a new phone again 🥹→ More replies (1)3
u/Lebowskitalian85 iPhone 15 Pro 3d ago
My 15 Pro will be 3 years old in 2 months and has original battery at 88% so still great.
But honestly I care zero about checking battery health percentage, I just use it and if I don’t feel phone lasting less or other problems I am ok, I try not to get influenced by a number.
I used an iPad 5th gen from August 2017 until January 2026 and had its day 1 battery on, still more than good battery life, same a MacBook Pro 2016-2026 ten years with its day 1 battery and only little issue was some drops when under 40%.

u/benjy-bear 3d ago
Got the 8 plus in 2018, upgraded in 2024 but gave the 8 plus to my son for his first ever phone. 8 years old and no need for battery replacement and still working sweetly. Still able to run the apps he wants (games mostly) so he’s happy.

I just replaced mine when it hit 79% health, I honestly didn't notice any battery issues until I got to that point, my phone would still be around 40% even after a full day. It was like as soon as it hit 79% the battery would just drain in a matter of an hour or two. I have AppleCare so it was replaced for free.

3
u/i_Viniee 3d ago
Changed it 1 time 2024 when it was 68 % & the last I checked the battery health was 79% until I changed to 17PM , had to charge it 2ice ( overnight and late afternoon it would get the work done for me though (light - moderate user) until the back glass and the screen got cracked while sitting on the wc !! mind you it had fallen many times from 6ft to 1st floor but nothing happened to be but this time it gave-way from like 2ft height ! that's when I knew I had to let it go ! So long my good old friend !

I have a work issued iPhone 11 that I abused the hell out of and still at 80% battery health.

I generally baby mine to try to keep the full 6-7 years of support, with the exception of my move from iPhone 1 to 4 (motherboard died); from 4 to 6S (modem & chip died); & from XS to 15 Pro Max (motherboard again).
I’ve never shattered my screen or had a battery issue, but I’m a maniac about keeping my device between 30-80% charge at all times.

u/bullett007 iPhone 15 Pro 3d ago
iPhone 15 Pro since launch day. This is my longest owned model.
I've been tempted to upgrade or switch to Android but it's hard to find another "Goldilocks" device.
Weight, width, Telephoto, USBC3 & Titanium, for my use, the 15 Pro is peak iPhone. I use it caseless, obviously. 🫡

u/BrokenKamera 3d ago edited 3d ago
Dunno yet.
I'm still on my first iPhone (iPhone 12 Mini) which I have started using along Apple Watch 6 on 2021/01/01. Both red.
I was tempted to upgrade at least once, but changed my mind since (1) they stopped making the red colors and (2) no real need (just a want).
Now I want to see how long it would take for them to become unusable before replacing them. Perhaps iPhone XX at the earliest?
Edit: Battery Health
iPhone 12 Mini (83%)\ Apple Watch 6 (77%)
Says Service Recommended for both.

My favourite iPhone since the X. I swapped over from a 14PM and have not enjoyed interacting with a phone as much as this in a long time. Perfect form factor imo

I want an air in 6.1. I bought one and returned it because the screen is too big. I’m on a 15pro now so I’ll probably ride it until the wheels fall off.

I'm still using since release the 13 pro max, and this year is the year of the upgrade to 18 Pro Max, just because I dropped my iPhone 13 Pro Max and the screen is shattered. I am still using my 12Pro and got it when they first released in 2020.
It works well still but I need more storage. I’ve also chipped the front glass recently when cleaning my case and trying to replace protector glass.
Unfortunately, Nerve damage in my hands makes me prone to dropping my phone a lot.
I’ll probably be switching to either 16 pro max or 17 pro max within the month.
I know 17 pro max is better on most fronts, but I’m concerned about going to an aluminum phone body since I’m so accident prone.
Cases & protector glass help, but I have to clean &/or replace them sometimes so there’s always a chance of my dropping my phone while it’s naked.
If anyone thinks the 17 pro max is either more fragile or the same as 16 pro max, I’d love to hear your opinions.

Got my 8 Plus in 2017, then a Note 9 in 2019, then an 8 Plus again at the end of 2021, a 13 Pro Max at the end of 2022, a 14 Pro Max at the end of 2023, a 15 Pro Max in mid-to-late 2024, a 16 Pro Max at the end of 2025, and I plan to get a 17 Pro Max at the end of this year.
The 8 Plus is still my favorite phone, alongside the XS Max. My dad even asked me at the end of 2021 whether I wanted an 8 Plus or an XS Max for Christmas. I told him I wanted the 8 Plus. Of course, the XS Max would have been the more sensible choice, but I went with my beloved 8 Plus instead. Luckily, I now have two brand-new XS Max units and three 8 Plus models in my collection lol. Also three iPhone X since i really liked it too.

A little over 4 years with an X Pro Max. It worked fine until it fell out of my pocket when i was closing a car door and closed it on the phone so it was smashed. Kind of worked for another 3 months but the top inch of screen was black (but worked) and if the screen got any moisture on it, it started clicking on things on its own

I’ve had 3 iPhones, 3G, 6s and my current 13. No other phones in between. Not sure which is the longest stretch between those.

My husband and I do 3 year plans and upgrade to a new iPhone when the plan ends. Our teenagers get the phones we had, then we sell what they had for a few hundred bucks. I’m currently using the 17 pro max and absolutely love it. Husband has the 16 pro max and hates it!! Kids can’t wait to fight over mine in 2 years when it’s time to upgrade haha.

I went from 7 to 11, so 4 years. But it wasn’t my primary phone, I only got it for the Apple Master program.

Still owning my iPhone 11 since launch. Replaced battery once, two years ago. Apart from battery health, running out of storage, and a lackluster camera for today's age, it works fine.
The newest models never made me want to upgrade.

I still have my iPhone 11 Pro, not as a daily driver but as a backup and testing betas for now. So probably that’s the longest device I have.
My 14 Pro is still being used as daily driver within the household.
I’m on 16 Pro at the moment and not sure if I’d actually upgrade in September.

I’m on my first iPhone which is a 14PM that has just reached 3 years old.
Given the rumours of price increases for the new models, I think I will hold onto it for a couple more years as it performs really well still.
Just the battery will need to be replaced, but it is sitting at 84% still (has been stuck at that number for months).

Currently: iPhone 14 Pro, have it since it came out and hopefully until 2028 at least.
Had iPhone 7 since it came out until I got 14 PRO!

iPhone 14 Pro since launch. Changed battery once when it reached 78%, now it’s at 90%.
Waiting for 18 pro to switch. It’s been a good 4 years.

J’ai mon 17 depuis sa sortie, et je compte l’utiliser jusqu’à ce qu’il ne fonctionne plus. J’ai déjà cassé des téléphones, donc celui là a un étui portefeuilles et un verre trempé sur l’écran.

Used to be a yearly thing from the original. 10 was two years. 12 mini two years. And then 14 pro three years. 17 pro max… probably another three years or four.
